Power Break

So after operating the PC for over months on end only restarting it and everything else in my room, it has gotten a bit hot and my PC is acting a little weird so I decided to shutdown my PC and everything else that I don’t need to have on including my Network Area Storage, and a few other things. I only kept my router on so I could surf on my laptop which is off and on at a regular basis.

Shutting my PC off with the other pieces of electronics has led my room to be a lot cooler then usual which is nice, but I honestly feel like something is missing since I got used to the hum of the PC and other items when running.
What I have connected to the four power strips:

  • 2 External Hard Drives
  • 1 Network Hard Drive
  • 1 Network Area Storage
  • 2 PCs
  • 1 Screen
  • 1 KVM
  • 1 Router
  • 1 Switch
  • 1 Access Point
  • 1 ADSL ( I dont like the combined ADSL & Router since those are crappy in my opinion)
  • 1 Phone Charger
  • 1 Sound System

When I look at my power strips I wonder what the hell I have connected to it, and when going through it I realize its a huge amount of things connected to it and I only have 2 open points. Three strips have only 4 and one has 5 for a total of 17 and I’m using 15 of them. I’m surprised the power hasn’t shorted out from the use, every modern house should have some sort of server room at this point with networking points in the apartment or house.

last week i did shut down my desktops for good, believe me the room is more quiteeeeeee and organized, no more cables all over the table, now iam using my laps only and its better.
you should think of replacing your pcs with laps :>

  3. They still don’t even build houses with enough power outlets on the walls… so I think server rooms are a little way off. Still, it made me laugh that you’d think of a server room for a house. Not at all geeky ;-)

  4. Swair: looool! Pink iron. My items all tend to do with the computer and computing! hehehe

fahad: I have one work laptop and one personel laptop. But there are things you are better off doing on a desktop and my wiring is relatively organized and I don’t see them so I’m not complaining really!

moocherx: looool! I can’t help it! I want to have rediculous computing power at my finger tips!
