It is 'Orientalism' all over again. 'http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orientalism' I can understand if naive westerners fall for the subliminal messages of the movie, but it saddens me to see you guys admiring the movie for more than its worth. If you don't know what orientalism is, i beg you to read the wiki. Well, I certainly won't use this movie as a visual aid for a history presentation concerting the Spartans and the Persian; especially since they made the Persians like monsters and "so-pure evil". However, I do believe this was an intension from the director because he wanted it to make this historical event symbolic and stylized as much possible. Again, the movie is a major step up for art, stunt, and fight scenes direction but when it comes to other areas (i.e. acting, story) it kinda fail. So, this movie is far from perfect in my opinion so I'm glad you gave it a 4.5 = A-. “This movie brings history.”
