Vista Project II

Microsoft-Windows-Vista.jpg

So I have installed the OS but there is a lot of tweaking and things to work on. And after fooling around with the machine I realized there were other driver problems that I had to deal with.

Driver Issues:

  • Ethernet port (Not Recognized)
  • Sound Card (Not Recognized)
  • Linksys Wireless-G Adapter (Wasn’t Recognized even after downloading the Vista driver)

Driver Update:

  • Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT (Driver Updated)

My machine was only displaying at 1024 by 768 but after the driver update I was able to get to 1600 by 1200 which is just beautiful, and I updated the Linksys driver and after finding it, it worked flawlessly.

I have to say that I am enjoying playing around with the OS and messing around with the settings, they are taking a different approach to how things work yet you feel there is some similarity. There are some improvements, but my system isn’t the highest system and it isn’t low but you do feel its a bit on the heavy side.

Computer Stats:

  • Pentium 4 3.4 GHz
  • 2 GB Ram
  • GeForce 7800 GT
  • 74 GB 10K Raptor
  • 160 GB 7.2K WD

I completely formated the machine, but I forgot about the second hard drive so I had to format it in the Device Manager, but it was a bit different then the usual way but still familiar. Also the help files are more helpful then before which is good, since I’m always looking for different tools. Overall I think its a good OS but still needs some work regarding driver support and the way things work. I don’t think I am even scratching the surface of this OS and there still a lot to mess around with.

I installed a few more gadgets for the side bar and I installed Firefox 2.0 and a couple of plugins. I will be getting Office 2007 to install later next week. I will continue messing around with it.

Pending issues:

  • Ethernet Port
  • Sound Card

A guy who is just trying to enjoy life!

you shoulda stuck to xp, vista will give you lower framerates on the same games xp has on that same graphic card, as well as being overall lower. UNINSTALL THAT SHIT AND PUT XP BACK ON! Otherwise…good luck ;)

  2. how neat, i’d love to install it but like i said i don’t have the time or the proper resources right now
what’s up with the victoria’s secrete on the screen :p

  3. Why would u go through all this headache and look for drivers that eventually wont work ??? when all the features you’ll get are already been available on Mac OSX 3 years ago? save your self the hassle and get yourself a mac .

  4. I had few problems with the sound driver on my fujitsu notebook, but solved by getting the driver from Realtek’s site.

BTW, have you tried downloading the sidebar gadgets/widgets ?
some are really cool, simmilar to the Yahoo one.

and don’t forget to try the DreamScens, it’s not official but “preview version”, that’s only if you have the Utimate version of Vista.

  5. Mo Hat: looool! that is true for games XP is still better! I’m only using it on a test machine so no worries!

Laialy: I like that look on the screen I don’t know why! Its calming!!! hehehe

G-Funk: looooool! I’m doing this for experience purposes to know how this system works and what exactly I need to do to make things work! :) Sometimes you look for challenges! hehehe

    Cyber: hahahahaha!

لمياء الحالمة:I can’t seem to find the right driver but I will with time, I’m just too lazy to open the machine up and look inside! Yeah I like the gadgets I got some cool ones up and they are entertaining and pretty useful! The thing is I don’t have the Ultimate version of Vista, I need to look for that and install that one later!! I will check out the DreamScenes later inshalla!
