This has been the phone a lot of people have been waiting for, the 5 megapixel phone camera from Sony Ericsson. I have been thinking about upgrading the main phone for a little while now and the K850i and W960 are the main contenders. It packs a lot of features, but its lacking Wifi which I was looking into for a bit, but supports pretty much everything else.
Features:
Price: 210 KD

Too expensive for a phone that is mostly an upgrade to K800. Also don’t let the 5MP fool you. The quality is only slightly better than K800’s 3.2MP. The only difference is that the pictures will be of bigger size (height and width).

i don’t like the green in it, if it was blue … then it would be cool
October 17th 2007 at 7:12 am
.. and that’s why SE made two versions, green and.. yes blue ;P
October 17th 2007 at 8:27 am
Well, green is currently your only option at Albarrak, you can get the blue from shops at Sharq. I prefer the green, the blue has some silver on the black case while the green is black on black with green lining.

Laialy,
there is green and blue options (only).
Marzouq,
I heard yesterday that some people were disappointed and it wasn’t as good as they expected. Something about the firmware being really bad.

The first firmware is always buggy, and every SE fan knows that

no matter how many megapixels a phone has it wont matter because of the lens. Take a normal 3 megapixel camera and a phone and compare pictures in the same lighting and place a camera would do better since it’s lens. Sure the quality becomes better with the jump but you will still see some artifacts, on the other hand if they offered a phone that would allow you to capture in RAW format thats a different story

Hey Marzouk. Where did you get the price 210KD? Albarrak sells it for 180KD.

Carlsb3rg: That is true, I was hoping for a better lens. But it does have Wifi which is great, and a few extra features!
Jacqui: Sweet!
Hasan. B: I know what you mean, the 6230i is great, the best part is the stability. But there are other improvements to phones which is good!
3baid: Nice!
Yazeed: You should see the normal Sony Ericcsson phones! lol!
Laialy: Paint it! lol!
Carlsb3rg: loool!
MYK: Thanks for the info!
N: ooohhh that is bad! Then I will wait a bit!
Carlsb3rg: That is true!
TAT: It is true, its always about the lens and not the megapixels which makes the difference!
MYK: I asked in Sharq, it seems they are putting a Mark up at first!
G-Funk: Bring on the hate! lol! I didn’t spend any money, I’m just saying its got a nice camera for a phone! And just because it isn’t an apple I don’t think my life would be miserable! lol!

I live inthe UK and am looking at either this or the w960i as well! Utlimately I think I’ll go for this, as I don’t want to wait too long – plus I think I’ll wait till Sony Ericsson develop their range of touchscreen phones before trying it out. The features list for both are impressive though!
For some obscure reason, according to the Sony Ericsson UK site, this doesn’t feature software for organising contacts (like the w810i which I own) but that’s a minor detail. I was hoping this might support WLAN as well, but alas not to be. Definitely the blue I think!

Mosey: Exactly they both have impressive feature lists, but its just a matter of waiting. In regards to the software, that is a bit annoying! The WLAN is a good feature to have for sure!

Marzouq, The k850 doesnt have wifi!!!!! ????

Carlsb3rg: Then its the W960i that does! I’m getting them confused at this point!
