This new Nigerian terrorist attack on Delta Airlines has led to increased security on all flights inbound to the US. This is just some of the new unknown rules that have just popped up, expect some new streamlined FAA rules to come out soon.
Some New Rules:
- No Electronics on the Flight to the US, no laptops, gaming machines, iPods, nothing
- You have to remain in your seat when there is an hour remaining until the plane lands, no bathroom breaks, can’t reach for your bag, remain stationary
- Completely random and unexpected types of searches to be commencing at the airport
TSA Update:
2. IN FLIGHT
During flight, the aircraft operator must ensure that the following procedures are followed:
- 1. Passengers must remain in seats beginning 1 hour prior to arrival at destination.
- 2. Passenger access to carry-on baggage is prohibited beginning 1 hour prior to arrival at destination.
- 3. Disable aircraft-integrated passenger communications systems and services (phone, internet access services, live television programming, global positioning systems) prior to boarding and during all phases of flight.
- 4. While over U.S. airspace, flight crew may not make any announcement to passengers concerning flight path or position over cities or landmarks.
- 5. Passengers may not have any blankets, pillows, or personal belongings on the lap beginning 1 hour prior to arrival at destination.
From the reports, the guy had some explosives in his boxers, which will lead to some very embarrassing and disturbing searches, I don’t know what else they plan on diong to beef up security. Luckily the guy was subdued by the passengers, who I’m assuming knocked him out unconscious when they knew what he was doing.

Eh, guess I’m gonna have to find another country to fly to if I want to enjoy a long-haul flight such as Canada????

That is bad! Seriously, traveling is turning into a major nightmare now.

Rule 6: Passengers will now have to walk their way to the designated destinations…

May be one day we cannot travel with our clothes on! Unless we board the craft fully naked, to make sure there is no risk associated (like how it’s done in correction facilities).

Gimmie, Think you are taking about our final journey here when we all leave the world. You got it right on that one. We came with nothing empty handed and will go like wise…Rest is interim.

“Completely random and unexpected types of searches to be commencing at the airport” basically means if you look Arab or Muslim, you will be searched. A few months ago i was flying from Amsterdam to Canada via the US, I was tried from a long lay over and just wanted to get to my destinations. Before I got on the delta flight to the US, they had this mini interview with me. The questions are just crazy sometimes. Who are you, where do you work, where do you live, Why do you live there, who do you have there, where are you going, why are you going there, why are you traveling alone, blah, blah, blah. I know its necessary but sometimes it can get very trying. It has gotten better over the years I guess. The good thing is they had these interviews with everyone, but now, we’re back to square one.

Are you sure about the electronics restriction on the flights?
Because I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere!

Electronic devices restriction 1hr prior to arrival is true sadly.
