Canon Powershot G1X

I try to take my DSLR with me whereever I can but sometimes I don’t have the space to carry all the Lenses then I want, so instead of that I take with me my Canon G12, it has alot of features and as much control as I need from a DSLR. Now the next iteration in the Powershot family is the G1X which is going to sell for $800. Its sporting a 1.5-inch, 14.3-megapixel CMOS sensor (the largest sensor to date for a PowerShot model), the G1 X should deliver amazing shots from a compact point-and-shoot body. The camera features an ISO range of up to 12800, a Canon lens with 4x optical zoom, an aperture of f/2.8 to f/16, and wide-angle capabilities starting at 28mm. The G1 X also has 14-bit RAW+JPEG support, HDR shooting, full HD 1080p video recording, a 3-inch vari-angle LCD, and a Mode Dial and Front Dial for precise control. So you have a lot of features packed into this camera, I can’t wait to see it in real life and maybe try it out.

A guy who is just trying to enjoy life!

good cam, but why does it have to be so ugly

  2. Hmmm not sure about it unless someone reviews it ;P

  3. The days of the bulky DSLR are numbered. I love my D300 but I don’t think I’ll be replacing it with another DSLR. Everything I read suggests smaller mirrorless models will start to take over. Their lenses will also start appearing (prime not zoom) which should make an interesting new world with much smaller bags. My only concern is how the camera being smaller will handle. If there isn’t real ‘weight’ there, how much control do we have over camera shake etc.

This camera looks good, but doesn’t seem to have anything special. I think you can probably get something better for your money.

    Whatever you decide, good luck.

  4. for me as a blogger buying canon G12 was probably one of the best things i have ever purchased. it does the job for me and specially during travel, i dont have terrible shoulder pains! i also cant wait to put my hands on that new black beauty!
