Senshiro Jumaro – Model...

The kids of the 80s will know who this is instantly, Senshiro and Jumaro from the robotic wrestling show of the 1980s. This is when KTV was at its finest, they had amazing animated cartoons from Japan even before Europe and North America did, we were ahead of the curve with so much types of media. And I remember it so fondly this was one of the shows that I cherished, who wouldn’t have wanted a robot as they were a kid that can kick ass. Usually I prefer watching anime in Japanese but I saw a few episodes of Jumaro a while back and watched them in both Japanese and Arabic, and by far the Arabic was much better. Surprisingly the anime had a few risque drawings in the Anime from back in the 80s, it shows that we were more open back then.

Thanks to Fewture models I was able to find the Jumaro model, and whats great about their models is that they are made from metal and molded to the perfect form. The model is fully moveable joints while made out of metal, and Jumaro looks everything like the animated series, if not better then the series. Didn’t take long to unbox and put together, I placed next to the other Japanese & Fewture models on my shelf. The only thing left to make this the perfect model is for him to have A.I. and move based on my telepathic commands.

Check out this YouTube for the intro video to Senshiro.

Review: Sacred Seven...

Plot Summary: Seventeen years ago, several meteorites carrying seven types of alien crystals landed on Earth. Given the name of Sacred Seven, these crystals withhold the power to alter DNA and cause mutations. Inheritor of overwhelming abilities from this enigmatic legacy, Alma Tandoji is an unsociable 17-year-old student feared by his schoolmates due to several rumors of his violent behavior. He is contacted by Ruri Aiba, a rich teenage girl and CEO of the powerful Aiba Foundation, who pleads him to help her fight a mysterious enemy that very recently started causing massive havoc through the land.

Tandoji has this power that he has no control over until he meets Ruri Aida, how has a power that can help him harness his. This is one of those interesting anime’s that could have gone either way, a trouble young man with uncontrollable powers and people who wanted to cause damage, and he had the power to stop them. The story was off to a nice start and I was liking the characters, its always good to have that unknown factor, not knowing whats going to happen next. The problem was that they were trying to get a dark effect but throwing in some comedy at the wrong time. If the story was longer they could have made it a bit more complex and still kept the comedy, it was a very good anime to watch and I enjoyed it but it wasn’t consistent that was its only real fault.

Review: Ao No Exorcist...

Plot Summary: Humans live in the world of Assiah, demons in Gehenna. The two dimensions are not meant to interfere with each other, but demons still possess creatures in Assiah in spite of this. The humans who can fight these demons are known as exorcists. Rin Okumura is a boy who bears the curse of being Satan’s illegitimate son. His foster father sacrificed himself to save him from demons. To avenge his foster father’s death as well as to prove himself, Rin decides to follow the path of an exorcist.

This anime had the makings of a very good story, I for one do enjoy stories with Exorcists and demons even when it is a recurring theme in Japanese Anime. With Okumura it was entertaining, he was thought to be normal only to realize he had the blood of Satan flowing through him. I enjoy the comedic aspect and serious part of the story, always leaving you guessing. I enjoyed it but I wish they added a few more episodes to build it up even more and develop a few characters but overall it was a fun anime to watch.

NEW ANIME! Space Battleship Yamato 2199...

I love when they do justice to an old anime with a new remake, and this time around its Space Battleship Yamato. I loved the series back in the 80s, used to watch it before I even knew it was anime and now its launching around April of 2012 and I’m really liking the animation, I love the mix of hand drawn and cg graphics to give it that depth and still maintaining the look of the characters, can’t wait to see it.

The basic story of Yamato 2199 is the same as the first Yamato anime set in 2199, but Yutaka Izubuchi (RahXephon), the 52-year-old animator who worked on mechanical designs and science-fiction concepts on some of the earlier projects in the franchise, is serving as chief director. Yoshinobu Nishizaki, the late producer of the franchise, is credited with the original story. Nobuteru Yuki (Escaflowne, Record of Lodoss War) is designing the characters, and the anime studios XEBEC and AIC are producing the anime. Mechanical designer Makoto Kobayashi (Giant Robo, Last Exile, Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection) revealed at Anime Expo in July that he is working on a Yamato remake for next year.

7 Foot Tall Gundam – RX-178 Gundam...

GundamLesko

Those this redfines cool, doesn’t everyone want a robot of their own, well Lesko decided that he wanted one and put 6-9 months of hard work putting together is Gundam MK-II. It seriously is an exact replica of the model, and this guy knows how to design his paper. That is one amazing Gundam, wouldn’t mind having it follow me around while I’m outside or flying next to me while I’m riding my bike.

Statue Arts – Kurosaki Ichigo R...

There is no question that I am huge fan of Bleach and especially Kurosaki Ichigo, the main character from the show. I have always been looking for the perfect display piece for Ichigo only to find that Square Enix made this amazing sculpture which surpassed the usual plastic models they make, and their models are usually impressive but this one is over the top with the details.

I really haven’t been following Bleach as much I should be, so I have no clue why Ichigo has a phoenix. But in any case, it’s totally badass so I approve. The face is very detailed, even though it has no real distinct facial details, it really gives off the impression of being made of fire. If you are a fan of the show then this is a must have for your collection even though its pricey at $500 but the quality the piece is clear.

Review: Green Lantern Emerald Knights...

As the home planet of the Green Lantern Corps faces a battle with an ancient enemy, Hal Jordan prepares new recruit Arisia for the coming conflict by relating stories of the first Green Lantern and several of Hal’s comrades.

I still get chills when I hear the Green Lantern oath, there is something about that just prepares you for battle.

“In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might, Beware my power… Green Lantern’s light!“

This animated movie came out in the summer and I for one love all of them, and this is a little different then the usual Green Lantern story. You get introduced to Hal Jordan as a familiar character but not a story about him, its more about the Core and the Green Lanterns. What was entertaining is that you get introduced to a few different characters in the Green Lantern Core and see how it developed, and the story develops around their current threat that faces the Green Lanterns. The animation is simple reminds me of the animated show the Justice League and it isn’t as good as Green Lantern First Flight but still very fun to watch. Made me put my Green Lantern ring on and see if it works, doesn’t hurt to try.

Daffy Duck the Wizard HD...

Marvel at the powerful spellth and legendary ekthploith of the Wizard. Best Merrie Melodie ever made. I haven’t seen Warner Brother cartoons in a long time, Daffy Duck was hilarious in this skit.

Macross – VF 256 Armored Messiah O...

Macross is one of those Animes that I followed in the 80s when I was a kid, everyone loved Robotech from back in the day. Luckily they came up with a few more storylines over the last decade with some very impressive animes. I remember thinking it would be very cool if the Air Force had jet planes that could turn into robots but for now we have the animes to enjoy and the robots to see.

I recently got my hands on the VF 256 Armored Messiah Ozma Custom from BanDai and it looks damn good and big. Its one of those types that are semi done and you have to transform him into robot mode and add the big weaponry and pieces to him. I thought it wouldn’t take more then an hour to put it all together but I was very wrong it took me over four hours and a few pieces kept falling off which drove me nuts but at the end I have a very lovely piece to add to my collection.

Review: Break Blade...

Plot Summary: The inhabitants of the continent of Cruzon are born with the ability to freely control quartz. Technology based on this power allows them to perform a great multitude of tasks such as shoot projectiles and pilot mobile suits (called Golems in this society). Rygart Arrow is an un-sorcerer, a rare individual who is unable to levitate even the smallest crystal. Living with his brother on a farm, he receives a letter from an old friend, Hodr, the current king. Close companion of the king and queen when they were students at Assam Military School, Arrow is informed that a war is about to occur. Hodr called him because an ancient type of Golem has been found in a mining shaft. No one has been able to move it and Queen Sigyn, an expert engineer, suspects that maybe an un-sorcerer might be the key to activate it.

From the onset this anime grabs your attention with some very intriguing characters and an intense storyline with countries on their verge of war, and friends being caught in the middle of it. Rygart is non-sorcerer which is extremely rare, he doesn’t have the capability to control quartz through his mind like the rest of the population, one isn’t seen except for every 180 years. Rygart has a pecular character and is called by the king and queen who are his school friends to help them with their dilema. Rygart also steps into ancient Mecha from a time where civilization didn’t have the ability to control quartz and its surprisingly more powerful then their usual Mechs but he isn’t a soldier, he is practical man and farmer but with his friends and family on the line he also has to fight his best friend who is leading the charge. For only six episodes this is one very complex anime with so many angles to it, and extremely well done its fantastic. I’m honestly disappointed that it was only 6 50min episodes, I wanted to see a lot more and enjoy more out of it but for only 6 episodes I loved it. This is an anime that should not be missed.
