BMW R Nine T “Track Grinder”

BMW released the R Nine T which is one of the coolest Cafe Racers to date, and it’s just as cool the Ducati Sport Classic when it first came out. Now the R Nine T was given to a few designers who came out with some amazing designs, and this is one of the coolest I have seen. Urban Motors designed this machine and I love the way it looks, it came together to be a real piece of art. I would love to try this machine, I would think it handles amazingly.

The Track Grinder is the world’s first remodeling of the R nineT and already sets the bar high for the remodeling of the Boxer: with plenty of love of detail, a courageous choice of color and a lengthy list of customized and hand-made parts, the typical cross-over style of this remodeling project is the embodiment of URBAN MOTOR.

The Track Grinder at a glance:

  • Clip-ons: Gilles Tooling, Brake and clutch cylinders: Brembo, Instruments: Domino and Motogadget among others, Dashboard: Motogadget Motoscope Pro, Ignition lock: Motogadget m-Lock, Indicators: Motogadget m-Blaze Disc, Mirrors: LSL, Rear light: LED Highsider, Footrest system: Tarozzi, Tyres: Golden Tyre, Headlight: Ellipsoid 50 mm, grip tape, skateboard roller, etc.
  • Hand-made parts: “Cleaned” fuel tank, aluminium front mask, Aluminium seat, saddle cover: Alcantara and genuine leather, aluminium tank fairings, VA and aluminium number plate holder, battery holder, headlight mount, etc.

Tokyo Dirt

Speedtractor teams up with friends, Animal Boat CC and Iceblock Films to find that there is indeed dirt in Tokyo…you just have to look for it.

Japan is one of the places that I need to visit, there is so much I want to see there yet I haven’t had the chance. There are those who follow the rules to the T in Japan, and then there are those who live outside the rules and this case this is what Tokyo Dirt is, a look into the other side of motorcycling culture in Japan. There is a different feeling for those who love motorcycles, and crosses all the barriers of borders, race and language, it is its own culture.

Another Beatufiul Confederate – The X132 Hellcat Speedster – By Pierre Terblanche

The Confederate machines are known to be beautiful hand made machines from the this well known “Southern” brand. It is another sophisticated piece of machinary that I would love to get my hands on. Based around the same 132 cubic inch (2,163cc) v-twin engine as the previous Hellcat models, the Speedster is good for 121hp and 140 lbs•ft of torque. The styling is true to the Confederate canon, and the detailed touches of Pierre Terblanche can be seen on this machine.

Noticeable features include a 240mm rear tire, a carbon fiber fuel tank, and a unique solo-saddle design. Suspension is by WP, brakes by Beringer, and the carbon fiber wheels are by Blackstone Tek with proprietary hubs. I love the look of the solo saddle hanging up in the air.

“The X132 Hellcat Speedster represents a return to the tradition of the Hellcat, which is a stripped down American hot rod motorcycle,” says Matthew Chambers, Confederate’s CEO and Founder. “A dragster for the street that is powerful, beautiful and most of all, a thrill to ride.”

This is a more modern look then they have made for the Confederate line up of machines before, and this is all thanks to the lead designer, Pierre Terblanche. “The challenge was improving performance, reliability, and practicality without diluting the iconic simplicity and sensuality of the Hellcat. I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.”

65 of these works of art will be made, to get your hands on the Confederate X132 Hellcat Speedster you will have to put a $10’000 Deposit on the machine, with a cost of $65’000 I am pretty sure this beast will sell out. Production starts in September but I’m not sure how long it will take to build one.

RYNO Motors – Fun With One Wheel

This reminds me of the Segway for some reason, when it came out everyone went crazy that it was revolutionary, self balancing made it very cool and they made other versions of offroading and slightly more aggressive. Now this is another self balancing machine but this time around on one tire only so you lean forward and back to move but leaning sideways too will be a different feel.

The specifications aren’t that compelling for me it only goes up to 10 mph and gets about 10 miles per charge, when I was expecting it to be more thrilling based on the way that it looks. Its more like a personal transportation machine around a city or local area, its not meant for highways or high speed areas. For $5500 this is a revolutionary machine, but a novelty item that you must really want to justify the price. I am really curious to try this out, I wouldn’t buy it but I wouldn’t mind renting it to tour a place abroad.

2014 Ducati

2014Ducati899PanigaleSpyPhoto

There is always interest in what Ducati has lined up and in this case the leaked pictures are off the Panigale 899. Double sided swing arms, lower spec brakes and suspension from the 1199 but still going to be an interesting addition to the Ducati line up. Supposedly this is to be announced next week while they might have something else lined up for EICMA in November, that will be exciting.

Stories Of Bike – Passion For Machines

There is no question that I love two wheeled machines, it brings out someone’s character and they fall in love with their machines. These videos are about Cafe Racers, guys who love these retro machines and work on them to make their own machine, I have always loved cafe racers because they have so much character. They might not be the best at cornering or the fastest, but each rider enjoys his machine differently. Over the years I have always wanted a retro looking Ducati machine because I have loved Italian machines but are a bit more powerful then the usual Cafe Racers. In these videos each person has a different feel for their machines and rides for different reasons, but like all bikers are all of the same mindset and that is the best thing about bikers, all lines are cleared and every loves being a biker. Cafe Racers haven’t caught on in Kuwait yet, but that will happen in due time since there are different cultures growing here.

2013 BMW HP4 vs. R1200GS

For any bike rider, they would think the new BMW HP4 is unstoppable on the track since its even a more hardcore version then the S1000RR. But everyone knows its about the rider not the bike, so to prove a point BMW but two professional riders on two very different machines, the BMW HP4 & the R1200GS, the R1200GS is known for its long haul riding in difficult terrain, not hitting the track, but this video will change your mind with a few surprises. If you love bikes you should watch this.

Desert Ride – Sports Bike On Sand

Now this is a twist on machines, ICON & Triumph have teamed up to make this very cool video and they haven’t used your typical off-road motorcycle. They have turned a Triumph Speed Triple into a dune jumping machine with those ridiculous tires. The stunt rider on the desert prepped Triple is named Julien Welsch. I have seen stunting done before but not in this type of environment or the seaside. I like the videos that ICON put together and this is one of the coolest.

Friday – Out On The Town

Riding021301

A few more additions and a few old faces have joined our Friday morning ride and the group did get bigger. It’s sort of like organized chaos but with a lot of testosterone flying around. People are excited and some of these guys adore their machines, me being one of them. The thrill of riding just can’t be compared and that is what compels us to get up with only a few hours of sleep to ride in the morning.

Riding021302

We seem to be having a lot of Germans joining us these days, and they are impressive machines. We are a bit particular about who joins us on the ride because honestly it would be a bit dangerous for a novice to join us and there is a very good rythem going on with most the riders, there is a chaotic understanding that somehow works in this order. Some of the riders are extremely skilled and some of the riders are Cafe Racers like MFW, but still it’s a lot of fun and the best way to start off the day. Honestly we need more curvy roads, and I need to find them to freshen our routes a bit, change it up.
