Deadpool & Suicide Squad – The Year Of The Anti- Hero

Marvel & DC are finally putting their guns behind the interesting stories they have in their line up and these are some juicy movies, they will either be a major hit or a total flop. From what I can see from the trailers they are looking to be top notch movies. Ryan Reynolds is the perfect fit for the mouthy Merc, he sounds like Deadpool is in the comics, entertaining in the most chaotic situations. Suicide Squad has been in the works for a long time and there is a comedic twist to the bad guys saving the world, seriously worst heroes ever. I do love these movies.

Lucy – 2014

A woman, accidentally caught in a dark deal, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

The concept of human brain develpment turned into a movie has been done a few times, but with the voice of Morgan Freeman and the acting and action capabilities of Scarlett Johansson it is bound to be a potent formula. It’s a movie that pulls you in and your on one hell of thrill ride as Scarlett Johansson turns from a ditzy club goer to a merciless warrior with super human capabilities. The action scenes are great and she kicks ass in them, and then there is her cold demeanor which she pulls off effortlessly. Loved the pace of the movie and the story, but then it just gets a little too weird and science-eee at the end. The conclusion should have been a bit less time travel and more ridiculous action, still a fun movie to watch.

Grimlock & Optimus Prime – Transformers Age Of Extinction – Prime 1 Studio

“Autobots, we charge together! Now, roll out!”

In the ultimate team-up, Grimlock and Optimus Prime fight together in an epic battle to save the human race from extinction.

Words can not describe how I excited I was when I saw this piece of art, bad ass has been redefined after the appearance of Grimlock in Transformers – Age Of Extinction and adding Optimus Prime to this piece just takes it to another level. The quality level of this piece is just something else, preorders are out and delivery is in May 2015 and priced at $1899. Only 500 pieces are being produced of this piece and as other Prime 1 pieces they will be flying off the shelf, the nerd in me couldn’t get more excited so I had to put my deposit down for it. The toughest Autobot & Dinobot duo in the Transformers universe.

Batman – Assault On Arkham

The film is set in the universe of the Batman: Arkham video game franchise, and occurs after the events of Batman: Arkham Origins. The story focuses primarily on theSuicide Squad, particularly Batman villains Deadshot and Harley Quinn, with Batman in a supporting role. In the film, a Suicide Squad of six criminals is dispatched byAmanda Waller to break into Arkham Asylum, where they must contend with the asylum’s inmates and Batman as they attempt to complete their mission.

This is by THE best direct to video made by DC Comics, or any other company for that matter. There are a lot of DTVs made and the creators get to have a good amount of experimentation in style and the quality of the animation itself varies drastically, but DC Comics is usually on top of their game with their Direct to Video Movies. For once they didn’t stick to your typical storyline, and the bad guys played a much deeper role then just Batman himself, the Suicide Squad had a colorful array of characters who carried the movie in a more comic book style then seen before, and that made it that much better. The combination of action, artstyle, humor, wit, voices, and characters took this movie to another level, now DC has set the bar so high it’s going to be hard to beat this movie. One thing to keep in mind this movie is not for kids, and I will leave it at that.

Chef – A Movie That Makes You Hungry

A chef who loses his restaurant job starts up a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing back together his estranged family.

One Hell Of A Cast:

  • Jon Favreau
  • Sofia Vergara
  • John Leguizamo
  • Scarlett Johansson
  • Robert Downey Jr.
  • Dustin Hoffman

You would really have to do pretty badly to screw up a movie with this cast line up, half of them from the Marvel Universe and the other half are great actors. I love any movie with Jon Favreau, one reason is because he is Iron Man’s Body Guard / Driver, and the other reason is he brought Iron Man to life and with that came all the Marvel Movies behind his success. This movie is a different kind of movie for from Jon Favreau and if you want to watch a fun movie with great characters and really good looking food then this is it, I honestly can’t recommend it enough. Its got all the pieces of a great movie with a deep and fun story, and Jon Favreau makes you want to go into the kitchen and do something crazy with the food. And don’t watch the movie hungry, you will end craving everything you see on screen.

Hercules 2014 – Why

Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail… he must again become the hero he once was… he must embrace his own myth… he must be Hercules.

Now this movie I was looking forward to, pretty much any movie with Dwayne Johnson “The Rock” is in I will watch, I even thought he added the right type of character to Fast & Furious. So for the role of Hercules there could be no one better. I wanted to like this movie very much, I really did, the only reason I didn’t walk out of it is because it was Dwayne Johnson. For a movie with so many good actors, it had such a bad story line. I hate to say this but really don’t waste your time with this movie, the story line doesn’t add up and the characters don’t have any real depth, your trying to depict reality with a bit of myth but somehow something goes really wrong in the story it keeps going from bad to worse.

Justice League: War

The world’s finest heroes found the Justice League in order to stop an alien invasion of Earth.

The one thing I love about the DC Universe is that they are always coming out with these animated movies and at very high pace. These aren’t theatrical releases but each o

What I Liked

The animation style was very clean and with the right combination of animation and CG. The story was high octave and very well put together for a short movie. We got see the characters at different stages, so you could meet them individually first except for maybe Superman. Then there was the bromance between Green Lantern & The Flash it was great and hilarious, hopefully this is eventually translated in to a live action film. Batman was great in the movie and as dark as usual, the one who puts the plans together. Cyborg & Captain Marvel had a great rythem going together, and I just wanted a bit more from Captain Marvel, he is always underplayed in these movies, Wonder Woman was of course the badass. The humor in the movie played out perfectly.

What I Disliked

It was a short movie so there were a few parts of the stories that were forced together. Darkseid’s introduction didn’t play out smoothly and he felt more like a video game villain that you reach at the end of the game.

Overall it is a good addition to DC animated library and if you do like comic movies then this is one to enjoy.

Brick Mansions – Parkor Movie?

I love parkor and I enjoyed any movie Paul Walker was in, so I was really looking forward to this movie. Especially after passing away I wanted to watch every Paul Walker movie, and I need to watch Hours and I am looking forward to the next Fast & Furious movie, but this one was a disaster. Seriously who ever was writing the story was high as a kite, there was rarely a time that I wanted to walk out of a movie but this was one of them and most of Nicholas Cage’s movies. The story was stale and as the movie progressed it went from bad to worse, time I can not get back.
