New Wrangler Getting Dusty

One of the cars that I always thought had character was the Jeep Wrangler, nothing is really similar to it and each of is very different then the other one. It is one of the most interesting cars because it really reminds me of Lego, you can really take that car completely apart, drive it without doors, easy just take them off, top down, sure in 5 mins minutes the whole roof is off. You can literally upgrade every piece of that car and turn it into what ever you want, you know when you drive it with the roof off its a lot of fun.

There are a few drawbacks to the car, its very raw and basic, its 2012 and only recently did they add heated seats to it, wind is an issue when driving because of its box like structure, and until 2012 the gear box was pretty crappy. This is the new Wrangler JK Four Door with a 5 Speed automatic gear box, and I love that the whole thing is white. A small lift kit to fit those lovely Nitto Grapplers, they do make the car look that much hotter. The sound insulation has improved drastically on it as well, overall it is a much better machine then its predecessors. I was following it around with my Landcruiser and I was able to keep up pretty well in the sand dunes. Pree, the owner of the car, has a few more upgrades in mind but plans to keep it simple and clean. You can even see the people riding in the car with a huge smile on their faces. This car isn’t for everyone but I for one love it. Mabrook Bu-Hamed.

Out To Sea

The weather change has ended the biking season for some of us, a few more people are still riding but its gotten a bit too hot for my tastes. You can still ride at night but I prefer to ride during day time. And now that switch over to sea activities has begun, at the top of the some of the guy’s list is sailing but for me its wakeboarding.

This past weekend going out on the wakeboard I didn’t think that I would be able to get up so quickly but luckily the past month in the gym has showed some decent results. I was up on the board right away swinging from one side to the other and pushing my luck as much as possible. I had a few interesting moments and some even more interesting crash landings as I was trying to jump from wake to wake. After 12 pm the weather changed and the wind picked up so the water got a little bit too choppy to pull the wakeboard on, but I was happy I got in some time in the morning, seriously can’t get enough of it.

The sun was hot but the water was really cool which was perfect but it also invited other creatures, specifically jelly fish. I got stung by one as I was swimming out in the deep water, I felt a tingle before I felt the sting, I slapped it away, I’m always afraid they will stick to you and won’t let go. I didn’t have a mark or anything bad, just a red mark on the area that it hit. Still I loved the water and wakeboarding was fun, but Bnaider turns into a water highway later in the day.

Water Time!

This year the summer is cooling off earlier then usual which is a good and bad thing, I love the sea but I also love to ride. But while its still hot we are getting into the water as much as possible, and the other day the water was a bit rough but still amazing to swim in and so we headed off to Al Halah, a little island that pops up at low tide and disappears at high tide. It was a lovely cool breeze as we were on our way and honestly everything was just right, and we were have a bite from the watermelon we had packed in the ice box, took us about 15 to 20 mins to get there from our starting point.

There were a good dozen boats parked by the Island, and a few that got stuck because they went into shallow waters, honestly I would have made the same mistake if my friends didn’t tell me not to go there. The water was really nice there and we saw a couple of people that we knew. While in the water honestly the best thing to drink other then water is Shani, for some reason it just tastes so damn good and refreshing in the water, and I for one love Shani. We spent a little over an hour there before the current started to get stronger around the Island because the tide was coming back and it was dragging us away from the Island. Al Halah island is known to have whirlpools so we stuck close to the island while swimming, then we decided to head back since I knew lunch was on the way and we needed some time to get the equipment out of the water and take a shower. But while on the way back I made a quick stop to get the wakeboard out and try to wakeboard back which almost killed me, I love wakeboarding but I have NO stamina, I need to build up my stamina, I do love the water so much.

A Drop In The Water

I love getting into the water, I love swimming, and just floating in the water. This past week the weather has just been unpredictable as to what exactly is going to happen but we headed to the shalaih and decided we are swimming this Friday.

It was a little bit of wind but not nearly enough to discourage us and we have gotten in the water in worse conditions. After about an hour of laying about watching tv we got into the water, and we were literally the only people in the water. No one else can be seen except for half a dozen jetskies in a 10 kilometer stretch. The water was a bit cold but not enough so that no one gets into the water, but it seems the weather is changing and the water is a bit cooler. Overall I think its been a fantastic summer and I’m hoping for more time in the water and less sandstorms in the near future but riding season is around the corner at this point.

The Little Island

Just before Ramadan we decided to spend the last weekend completely at the shalaih, having fun and relaxing watching tv and swimming. I piled up all the shows I had as well as a few movies that I wanted to see, some good, some crappy, and some just plain funny. The last few weeks have been good since we haven’t had too many dust storms making the water better and better to go swimming and enjoying all forms of water sports.

We got all our energy out on Friday, I think I have more parts hurting me now then when I did when after the gym. We were on a SportsStuff Bandwagon which really beat the hell out of us, because we tried holding on as much as we can and when you fall off its a hell of a fall. So the next day we decided to go to the little Island called Al Halah just at the tip of Mina Al Zour. We took the bought with about four jet skis following us, they kept jumping on the wave made by the boat. When we got there the water was crystal clear and a few people were already there, it was amazingly relaxing. We stayed there for a good hour and a half before heading back, the water was a bit on the warm side but we would get a nice cool under current every once in a while. It was the perfect weekend, water by day, and couch by night.

BBQ in Bnaider

When going to the shalaih I looking forward to eating some juicy burgers as well as jumping into the water. With the Prime Cuts burgers I really had something to look forward to trying, but now I had to deal with the grill. I had the guys on bread patrol, cutting up the buns getting the ready, and the cheddar cheese was ready.

Now the grill is an interesting story, its big and can handle a lot of burgers, and I love coal bbqing except that you can’t control the flame, which makes professional gas grillers that much better. Now in this case this is a 15 KD griller made from a used barrel, and cut to fit a grill and welded together, and it works perfectly. Now the funny part is that it belongs to one of the guys from 4thringroad, and somehow ended up with us, but I’m using it and enjoying it so I’m not complaining.

Got the burgers on the grill and for the first time about 7 of guys were waiting behind for the food, I had to swat them away like flies. Usually I’m the only one stuck outside cooking in the cold, but this time around they were all just standing behind and annoying me because they were all so hungry. I kept flipping the burgers every few minutes since I couldn’t control the heat and I didn’t want the exterior burnt and the interior being under cooked. The first batch of burgers that were done, disappeared within seconds, they flew through them and some guys wanted more, these are thick burgers.

After about 18 of the burgers there were only a few left and so I cooked it on my time, making sure they are perfect. I would place each bun on the grill for about a minute to get it nice and crispy. The cheese melted perfected with the heat being nice and warm at this point, I took my first bite and loved it. It was really a juicy burger and very tasty, Prime Cuts now has a dedicated customer and these guys do catering too, so if you want someone to come cook your burgers for you, then they come out.

One Time Up

This has turned into an interesting weekend, the whole week was windy and slightly sandy. I had hopes for the weekend that we would get some time in the water and luckily Friday turned out to be the day, it was a little windy in the city but by the time I got to the shalaih it was perfect. Low tide was at 10 am and high tide was at 6 pm, which is opposite of what I was used to. The guys were all waking up when I got there, we had some breakfast and got into the water towards noon, knee board and wakeboard ready to go.

And this time after the third try I managed to get up and control the ride for about 11 to 13 seconds which is a lot before landing face forward into the water. Some how I went with my left foot forward when I wanted my right foot forward, I had the bright idea of switching the board around but that ended with a disaster. I tried a few attempts after that but I was unsuccessful, but a lot of us really improved after a good amount of wake boarding, honestly wake boarding is a lot more fun the knee boarding or skiing for that matter. Salem got a really nice jump and Ali managed to jumped, Preetoo was bothering us with his Thundercats jet ski, he was like a fly that kept buzzing around us but had a failed attempted at jumping with the knee board but then again there might be next week.

Out to Sea

Its been a while since I went to the shalaihaat and jumped in the water, started off early Friday morning and visited some family. Picked up a friend to go pick up another friend’s jet skit, he didn’t have a car to tow his jet ski. When we got there turned out the trailers’ tire was completely flat, and the little nozel was ripped off so we couldn’t even pump it back up.

We took to the road and were averaging between 130 – 140 kph, it was pretty hot and I was looking forward to jumping in the water. A few people were already there and a few were coming after us. Took us about 40 minutes to get there and we were enjoying the music all the way there. We even took a detour to take a dirt road, its been a while since I have had the Landcruiser drifting in a dirt trail in 2nd gear. Got the shalaih, threw our things inside and headed to Khairan coop to get some supplies. We got enough to last a week, so we chilled in the shalaih until everybody got there before jumping in.

One jetski was taken into the water and its the kind you have to stand up to get it going. I haven’t been on one in at least four years, and I remember then that I was damaged since I fell the wrong way while trying to turn. This time I thought I would try again and hope to succeed. I tried my luck and after about 5 minutes I was exhausted couldn’t even stand up in the damn thing without falling over.

Some of the other guys took that machine and did a better job, I decided to give it another try in a little while. It was nice to relax in the water, got some swimming in, I’m the type of person that doesn’t like not knowing whats under him, I always look under me when I’m over those dark patches of water. For some reason in Bnaider ever jet boat or boat of equivalent size was filled with girls going back and forth, they looked like high school girls. And on the beach their were girls on quads and buggies going all over the place, for the first time we felt like the old guys just relaxing in the water.

After that time I gave it another try and I succeeded in staying upright and making a few turns, but as soon as I thought I got the hang of it I pushed my luck. I tried making one of those cool turns, but instead I hit the wave at a wrong angle ended up hitting the damn jetski with my body and flying in the other direction, lets say I had to swim a little bit to get back to the jet ski. It was a hell of a lot of fun, but as the sun was setting everyone was heading out and so we took up the jet.

Washed the jet ski, went in to take a shower and nearly burnt myself from the hot water. Then we chilled and watched TV for a little while. A few of us passed out, then we watched a few movies, I didn’t stay the night since I had things to do in the morning. I know that I want to enjoy the ocean this time around, I also need to get back in shape since I gained too damn much, so much the life jacket wouldn’t fit me among other things.

All The Way And Back

Up at 6:30 am trying to get out of bed to enjoy the nice cool Friday morning. My phone kept ringing since Monichum and Vampire were up earlier then me as usual. I tend to stay up late when they sleep in to wake up earlier, I’m always the last one to get there. We had a full day planned ahead of us, I filled up gas at the Miseela gas station as usual, and you could see a few bikers on the road. Then headed straight to Bida’a Starbucks which seems to be open at 6 or 7 even on a Friday morning. It was perfect start to the morning, I get my Raspberry Frappacino and doughnut since I was starving.

We were heading to Bnaider to meet up with a friend, we were supposed to go have lunch at his beach house but we all had things to do. So we decided to take the route there and enjoy the ride, we were having a blast flying around at such a high speed on the empty roads. The funny part is that I haven’t been to Bnaider in sometime to visit someone. We got there in 45 minutes taking our time, we got there around 9:20 am and it took 10 minutes to find the Beach House based on his elaborate directions. Finding the beach house wasn’t too hard, but we got to the sea side he was sailing with a friend. Now that looked like it was fun, they were on this sail that was moving at a good pace.

We talked for a while, and it seems he will be getting a bike very soon, so we might have a fifth join us very soon. We left the Beach house around 10:15 to make it to our breakfast appointment at 11:00 am at Marina with some of the guys, we took off flying down the highway. I switched bikes with Monichum, he took Pyro and I rode his 749S, Ducati knows how to make Sports Bikes. I was enjoying the ride and I lost 95% of my restrictions riding like a nut case on this light machine, it made it very easy to turn and cut around traffic. We were flying to Marina, and it took us about 37 minutes to get there from Bnaider, we would have gotten there faster if it we all didn’t run out of gas and had to stop at Manguf to fill up gas. I’m just happy I remembered that they had green gas. When we stopped at Marina the BMW Motorcycle Club just got there, so we joined them for a bit before changing table to order our food. After all that intense riding all morning we were starving.
