Canon EF 70 200 f2.8L IS USM – Best Lens Period

I have been waiting years before purchasing this lens, its the peak of all the Canon lenses. This lens is what gives the Canon L Series Lenses that name of quality and amazing pictures. The Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 IS L is second to none in sharpness, contrast, and speed.

I have taken several shots, its fantastic for high speed shots, loved it for group photos and photos on the fly. You really capture a person’s details and concentrate on the subject in front of you.

The F4 is more expensive then the F2.8 but really worth it since nothing can increase the speed of lens then the F-stop. Then there is the normal model the IS model, I went for the IS model as I am shooting freehand consistently and it did a great job with a lot of my shots.

At the time I got the lens for $1600 which is a very good price, and I don’t regret a penny that I spent on it. Its an amazing lens which produces fantastic photos. This is the lens which takes it to the next level. (Sample Pictures Below)

NegativEffect – A New Photoblog

I do love when talented Kuwaiti Photographers post up their pictures online, and one of those is NegativEffects. He has honed his skills and still developing it, turning to Apple as his preferred machine of editing and tweaking. So many unique shots and ideas when putting pictures together. I love his talented work because I see the same objects in front of me but I don’t see how he comes up with the ideas for pictures, I will take what tips I can from his pictures but fantastic shots, and recently added to my Google Reader.

He is also the talent behind the Desert Kings 2 Jokers Kuwait that I posted a while ago about, and he is the talent who has helped put together the latest GulfRun 5 videos. A great combiantion of photo and video talent, I’m looking forward to more from NegativEffects, check out his Photo-blog and enjoy.

An Awaited Delivery

DeliveryCanon&Book 001

This I have been waiting for this package for some time now, I have been going over the details of the Canon 7D and found this great book about Halo. There is never enough Halo in this world, and at the same time I kept reading great reviews about the Canon 7D and its 720p videos. Now I just have to learn how to use it correctly to get the best of the camera. I’m curious to try the 720p video, I just need an appropriate size compact flash card to use with it. An nice early Christmas Present for myself, the best feeling when opening the packages.

Waterproof Case

Since we have been spending a lot of time in the water I was looking for a way to bring my DSLR Canon 40D with me because there are a lot of chances for good shots. I had something simple in mind, a case that would simply protect it from a little splash here and there. I either got bags which seemed useless or contraptions like these from Hugyfot and Ikelite which cost between $1400 and $5000, about the price of two to six cameras without the lenses. How insane is that, I wouldn’t mind getting one but that is a little too much for me, maybe for those who dive but their doesn’t seem to be a simple clean solution for what I had in mind.

New Canon Video Cameras

I have been looking at Video cameras for a while now, I want to start making some videos. The main point is clarity and I would be able to mount it to a moving vehicle. From what I understood hard drives aren’t a good idea except if they are solid state or flash drives because the vibrations would damage the hard drive. At this point I’m looking at the cameras with flash drives or DV tape, and then I would need the editing skills to make interesting short clips. The prices are varying for sure, click the link for more information on the camera. The flash drive versions are the top most expensive ones, so I would probably be looking at other options and waiting for a few reviews to come out.

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens

After some time I just purchased this lens recently and used it on my recent trip. I have a huge appreciation for L Lens from Canon and I have always wanted an IS Lens but they have always been just outside of the price range. I was stuck between the 24 – 70mm and the 24-105mm Canon Lenses, and I knew that I needed something for the longer distance so I went with the 24 – 105mm lens. As with any Canon L series lens the high build quality can be felt right away, and focusing is extremely fast and taking in just the right amount of light, with fantastic AF performance and apreture control and constant F-stop of 4 the picture quality is amazing.  From my first few snaps I knew that I made the right decision. Its had to choose a lens before trying it out but after reading so many reviews I took the jump and I am happy that I have. I get all the pictures that I wanted that I couldn’t get from my other lens, it just adds a whole other dimension to it at this point. It is the most versatile multipurpose lens yet, compact and very sharp images.

Canon 5D Mark II

Now Canon has come up with a new monster of a camera with all the bells and whistles people have been looking for, and the unexpected. This camera is for the professional and extreme enthusiast, I’m one who can’t even get the quality pics out of it, but I wouldn’t mind trying it out. A 21.1 Megapixel full CMOS censor and also 1080p recording which is just amazing. The sample videos look really good, I’m happy that this new feature has been added, its a new dimension to high quality videos. Now just to get the photo and video editing right, I’m not good at either really.

Bidding Addiction

As of recently I have been scowering Ebay for items that I’m looking to buy. I was looking for the Sigma 8mm Fisheye Lens  and suddenly I stumbled upon a used lens for sale. I have bought and sold a few lenses over the past couple of years and usually the only reason people would sell a lens is that they are looking for something else for thier pictures, and I always look into the seller ratings to determine the condition of the time and this it seems to be in excellent condition. And I saved about $250 for the Sigma 8mm lens instead of paying $679, which is the cheapest list price for new. Its always nice to get a good deal on an item off ebay.
