Marvel & DC are finally putting their guns behind the interesting stories they have in their line up and these are some juicy movies, they will either be a major hit or a total flop. From what I can see from the trailers they are looking to be top notch movies. Ryan Reynolds is the perfect fit for the mouthy Merc, he sounds like Deadpool is in the comics, entertaining in the most chaotic situations. Suicide Squad has been in the works for a long time and there is a comedic twist to the bad guys saving the world, seriously worst heroes ever. I do love these movies.
The film is set in the universe of the Batman: Arkham video game franchise, and occurs after the events of Batman: Arkham Origins. The story focuses primarily on theSuicide Squad, particularly Batman villains Deadshot and Harley Quinn, with Batman in a supporting role. In the film, a Suicide Squad of six criminals is dispatched byAmanda Waller to break into Arkham Asylum, where they must contend with the asylum’s inmates and Batman as they attempt to complete their mission.
This is by THE best direct to video made by DC Comics, or any other company for that matter. There are a lot of DTVs made and the creators get to have a good amount of experimentation in style and the quality of the animation itself varies drastically, but DC Comics is usually on top of their game with their Direct to Video Movies. For once they didn’t stick to your typical storyline, and the bad guys played a much deeper role then just Batman himself, the Suicide Squad had a colorful array of characters who carried the movie in a more comic book style then seen before, and that made it that much better. The combination of action, artstyle, humor, wit, voices, and characters took this movie to another level, now DC has set the bar so high it’s going to be hard to beat this movie. One thing to keep in mind this movie is not for kids, and I will leave it at that.
The world’s finest heroes found the Justice League in order to stop an alien invasion of Earth.
The one thing I love about the DC Universe is that they are always coming out with these animated movies and at very high pace. These aren’t theatrical releases but each o
What I Liked
The animation style was very clean and with the right combination of animation and CG. The story was high octave and very well put together for a short movie. We got see the characters at different stages, so you could meet them individually first except for maybe Superman. Then there was the bromance between Green Lantern & The Flash it was great and hilarious, hopefully this is eventually translated in to a live action film. Batman was great in the movie and as dark as usual, the one who puts the plans together. Cyborg & Captain Marvel had a great rythem going together, and I just wanted a bit more from Captain Marvel, he is always underplayed in these movies, Wonder Woman was of course the badass. The humor in the movie played out perfectly.
What I Disliked
It was a short movie so there were a few parts of the stories that were forced together. Darkseid’s introduction didn’t play out smoothly and he felt more like a video game villain that you reach at the end of the game.
Overall it is a good addition to DC animated library and if you do like comic movies then this is one to enjoy.
The world’s finest heroes found the Justice League in order to stop an alien invasion of Earth.
Another Movie from DC Comics which looks dark and fun, this time around Apokolips attacks earth and this Justice League is based on the new “52” comics which I am loving. Lets see how this movie will turn out, its going to be released in early 2014, I hope DC Comics keeps this animated movies coming I am enjoying them very much.
I have been a huge fan of comics since the early 90s, but getting comics in the Middle East is nearly impossible. I have always been a huge fan of Green Lantern, a hero with his only real limit is his imagination, I would always want to be the Green Lantern over any other superhero. And thanks to the introduction of the iPad it has become a relief to all comic lovers across the world, quick access to every comic made and that is being made. And one thing made easier I can keep track of the storylines at this stage. As for the Green Lantern, they have had a very active 3 years building up the Green Lantern Universe and leading this was Geoff Johns. So many colorful characters and now they have reached 4 Green Lanterns for Sector 2814 (Earth for the Non-GL Fans). Below is a short list of story arcs that you have to read from the Rebirth and ended with the Wrath of the First Lantern. I don’t want to ruin for anyone reading, but if you are even slightly into comics, these are a must read for the Green Lantern. With the end of the Epic build up of the Series, Geoff Johns has ended his career on a high after 10 years at the helm of the GL universe. Still I’m going to keep reading the Green Lantern because there is still so much to tell, I just hope its as good as it was for the past three years, with so many new characters they still have a lot of stories to tell.
Green Lantern Universe:
- Sinestro Wars
- Secret Origins
- Rage Of The Red Lanterns
- Agent Orange
- Blackest Night
- Brightest Day
- War Of The Green Lanterns
- Revenge Of The Black Hand
- Rise Of The Third Army
- Wrath Of The First Lantern
In my mind, one of the most famous pieces of comics dialogue is the oath sworn by Green Lantern. I gave this some deeper thought and realized that the oath is, in a way, applicable to real life. Anyone, should they choose, can swear an oath to stand against evil. Then it hit me. Have all comic heroes said things that are applicable in real life? Have they all said things that can inspire any of us, comic fan or not?
This is the work of Adam Thompson, an artist who works within the comic realm and and he wanted to connect with people on a different level. Comics are already has a huge pop culture fan base and has grown thanks to the movies, but people don’t realize the depth of the stories in these comics and how much they have built up, people write book for years before they come out, some of these comics have stories dating back almost 100 years, with so much material to work with Adam Thompson want to relate people’s lives to comics and so who came up with these amazing pieces, and I love the quotes on them. I have to admit that I do have the Green Lantern oath memorized since I was always a fan of the Green Lantern, but the other quotes are just as moving.
There are a lot more comic posters below, be sure to check out the rest of the characters.
Superman and Supergirl take on the cybernetic Brainiac, who boasts that he possesses “the knowledge and strength of 10,000 worlds.”
I do love these straight to DVD Movies from DC Comics, they are usually pretty good and they come out every few months so there is always something to look forward to. In Superman Unbound they took a different style to the anime, the story makes an assumption that you already know about Superman, Supergirl (Kara), and Lois Lane. The usual characters from the Superman Comics, and they jump right into the story. The animation style varies in different sequences, just enough cgi thrown in, and when it came to the fight scenes they did a fantastic job, its not your usual super powered fight scene, but a more emmersive type of drawing that pulls you in which I found to be cool. The story leads up to Braniac being the villain from beyond their Universe and Superman running into him for the first time. Story is decent, nothing too crazy, surprisingly Superman was a bit full of himself as a character and I wasn’t too keen on Lois Lane. Its a fun watch but DC Comics has done better before.
A young itinerant worker is forced to confront his secret extraterrestrial heritage when Earth is invaded by members of his race.
Zack Snyder tried to do something different with this Superman movie, and Henry Cavil played a pretty damn good Superman. The movie turned out to be better then I expected, I heard it got some very good reviews and I heard from some people they didn’t like it, but I honestly enjoyed it. Kevin Costner was pointless in the movie in my opinion, he didn’t fit as the father from Kansas, they should have brought the guy from Smallville the TV Show. Its a bit of a slow start but ZOD is awesome, he is the perfect bad guy in my opinion and the fight scene was fantastic. The darker tone to the movie was a good fit, and I hope that they make another one after this.
If you have $1.6 Million to spare then this is what you should do it, build your own Tumbler. A machine like no other, who wouldn’t be intimidated with this machine in its rear view mirror. I wonder how people would react to it on the streets. I’m assuming that this machine wouldn’t be built proof like Batman’s but it would still be a machine to be afraid of. This bueatiful creation is built by Team Galag, their name is hilarious, and surprisingly it is street legal.
The DC Comics inspired machine is packed with a 6.2 liter V8 engine, and can hit a top speed of 100 miles per hour. And this machine is going to be driven by one lucky guy in Copenhagen for Gumball. Now that is an exotic machine, the Hoosiers are probably the only tires that fit this machine. Now the only thing left is to get the Bat Cave to fill with the rest of Batman’s machines.
What if our greatest heroes became our greatest threat?
Now this looks like a fun and simple game, if you are fan of DC Comics, and the Mortal Kombat style of gaming then this game is for you. The footage shows Superman, Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy and the newly revealed Cyborg and Nightwing clash in environments like Metropolis and the Batcave. Very very cool, I wouldn’t mind playing this game for a little while.
