Heroic Words Of Wisdowm

Oath1GL

In my mind, one of the most famous pieces of comics dialogue is the oath sworn by Green Lantern. I gave this some deeper thought and realized that the oath is, in a way, applicable to real life. Anyone, should they choose, can swear an oath to stand against evil. Then it hit me. Have all comic heroes said things that are applicable in real life? Have they all said things that can inspire any of us, comic fan or not?

Oath2Superman

This is the work of Adam Thompson, an artist who works within the comic realm and and he wanted to connect with people on a different level. Comics are already has a huge pop culture fan base and has grown thanks to the movies, but people don’t realize the depth of the stories in these comics and how much they have built up, people write book for years before they come out, some of these comics have stories dating back almost 100 years, with so much material to work with Adam Thompson want to relate people’s lives to comics and so who came up with these amazing pieces, and I love the quotes on them. I have to admit that I do have the Green Lantern oath memorized since I was always a fan of the Green Lantern, but the other quotes are just as moving.

There are a lot more comic posters below, be sure to check out the rest of the characters.

Ubiquitous – The Most Masculine Office I Have Seen

Ubiquitous1

I always like seeing these crazy offices and its usually the tech companies that have them, but this time it comes from Ubiquitous, a communication company, I think marketing and branding. They have made the most masculine office I have ever seen, it looks like an old gentlemen’s club where people should be smoking cigars and drinking whiskey, not people working on computers. It’s rare to see an office using black walls and dark wood, but this place got it right, I wouldn’t mind working in an office like that.

Typographical Chess Set

TypographicChess1

Literal is what this guy had in mind when he was making these chess pieces and they do look very cool, these 3D-printed chess pieces use the full name of each piece as an integral part of their design. You always see these interesting chess sets, and I always think its cool just to have one, I know how to play but I have zero strategy when it comes to winning, and this chess set would look cool on any table.

Amazing Television Floor Plans

TheBigBangTheoryLivingRoom

We watch and love so many of these shows, and we all get familiar with the apartments and houses that they live, we have been watching them for years and still we think they are real when watching them, as if we know every part of their homes. In this case Lizarralde has really taken the time to put together all these designs on paper, to show some of these apartments that we have known for so long, in my case the favorite two are The Big Bang Theory and Friends, those are two apartments that I think I know every part of, check out all the plans below. I don’t know why but just seeing these apartment layouts brings back memories and playbacks of all the episodes that I saw.

MR. ED Book-End

Looking at his extensive library one day, Roderick Vos realized that a scattering of small lights would showcase the books and aid readers. So he designed Mr. Ed, a light bulb held in place by two vertical, book-like shapes. At home on a bookshelf or on a bedside table, Mr. Ed has enough brute strength to act as a bookend. Although Mr. Ed can use any 40-watt bulb, Vos prefers an incandescent bulb for its warm glow. In fact, Vos named Mr. Ed after the inventor of the incandescent, Thomas Alva Edison. Mr. Ed is made of cast aluminum and available in black.

I’m always on the look out for interesting book ends since I try to fit books in all the different areas I have, and when I saw these I loved them. Its rare that you find good functional bookends and in this case the lighting is exactly whats needed between books. The only issue I have is that I don’t have any plugs close or around the current shelving I have, I can use them in a few different places but the best way is to design these into the shelving space you have in mind so the outlets are there and designed in a way that the wiring is hidden. The link below is for the European specs so it would work with us.

QLOCKTWO by Biegert & Funk

I tend to find watches attractive and I always look at my watch or the computer , I always like feeling that I have more time to accomplish what I need. I usually try and get a cool watch to hang on the wall, and somewhat readable so I can tell the time. This exquisite piece of engineering is made in Germany by Biegert & Funk, the QLOCKTWO clock reconsiders the way we view time – not with numbers, but with words. An interesting blend of art, function, and technology tt has a quadratic matrix of letters (presenting in a super clean sans serif font) – where some of the letters are illuminated. I honestly love it even though its a bit on the pricey side for $1100.

This is QLOCKTWO, the fourth dimension squared. A clock that tells time in words. It has a quadratic matrix of letters, where some of the letters are illuminated. The time is displayed as text in five minute intervals. If you need to have a more exact time, look in the corner at the illuminated dots. QLOCKTWO has a brightness sensor; with its help the illuminating power of the letters is automatically adjusted.

20 Most Beautiful Bookstores in the World

There is no question that I love bookstores and libraries, there is something about the smell of paper and what type of books you can discover in the store. Sometimes I spend hours in bookstores roaming about and picking up a few books and reading them for a bit, and walk around in all the different sections. Books can’t be replaced by E-Readers, and there is something that I love about books, a feeling of having a book, the smell of paper, and enjoying reading it, the difference between a hard copy and soft copy. From the smallest to the biggest, these are 20 of the most beautiful bookstores in the world.

Hilltop Compound in Bel Air by Landry Design Group

The imposing Hilltop Compound is a 40,000 square foot, 28 bedroom project located in Bel Air, LA, California. It is made up of a main residence and several other buildings, spread over 1.5 acres of land. The architecture plans were developed by Richard Landry of Los Angeles based Landry Design Group, who stated: “We wanted to evoke a feeling of transparency for this house, with many different layers and floating walls, in order to give it an extra dimension. The home is designed to age well over time, with classical-modern shapes, good proportions, and subtle details”

Now this house is HUGE, so many damn rooms, its like a hotel of its own, it even has indoor spas based on the pictures. Its your modern day castle built in Bel Air and I really like that walkway in the third picture it makes you feel like your at the edge of the castle looking over the central court yard. With the size of this place I bet you could really get lost with 28 rooms, I bet it isn’t designed like a hotel with long corridors. I really like the exterior of the house and the design of it, the interior has some cool rooms but I don’t like all the styles.

Architecture of Kuwait

AOK is a platform dedicated to showcasing Kuwait’s creative talents through online projects and portfolios, providing you with creative opportunities, and exposure to the world of design.

Architecture of Kuwait is an extremely well done website that displays all sort of architecture and design projects taking place in Kuwait. I have recently been following them because of a post on 248am and they have some very nicely done articles and I love the pictures, always high quality photographs of the projects. They do show some projects that are coming to Kuwait or in the plan to be done, and some of them are amazing. There is also an interesting job section for people in the field of architecture and design which I think is very unique for this type of site. I do enjoy some of the highlight items they cover and I check every few days to see whats new, and I hope they continue to build this site as it has a lot of amazing potential.
