2014 Ducati

2014Ducati899PanigaleSpyPhoto

There is always interest in what Ducati has lined up and in this case the leaked pictures are off the Panigale 899. Double sided swing arms, lower spec brakes and suspension from the 1199 but still going to be an interesting addition to the Ducati line up. Supposedly this is to be announced next week while they might have something else lined up for EICMA in November, that will be exciting.

Bulgari Hotel London

BulgariHotel01

I remember hearing about the Bulgari Hotel in Milan Italy when it first opened, nobody thought a Jewelry chain would open its own hotel, it never made sense, but now everyone is opening their own hotel. I was going to London for 48 hours and decided to try a new hotel and this hotel was an interesting one to see. London has a lot of choices, but I called American Express Platinum services to see if they had any deals on hotels on a short notice, and they did for about 40% off the normal price for a junior suite and when I got there I got upgraded to a higher level suite when I checked into the Bulgari Hotel. There are lots of hotels in London and so many boutique hotels but this was worth checking out.

BulgariHotel02

Basically I got a very large suite for the price of a room in London which rarely happens, but they said during Ramadan it is very quiet in London and that was what you could see out on the streets. I saw a few Saudi & Qatari Supercars parked on some of the more famous roads in London, and they never moved, I asked the doorman what was going on they said that they paid for the parking for up to two months so they won’t lose the spot and its cheaper then shipping the car back home, it seems some people love their spots.

BulgariHotel03

The hotel has this sleek modern feel to it, very stylish with a lot of interesting amenities. I was told they have a beautiful pool but I didn’t have a chance to check it out. The hotel is located in Knightsbridge, and most women would know this area because its where most of their shopping takes place. Personally I’m not too keen on the area because there is a lot of traffic at that location.

BulgariHotel04

Going into the room it felt like an apartment, not a room, a large living room with two types closets, a small dining table and beautiful bathroom. The first night of my arrival I had a late night burger because I didn’t have a chance to eat while I was out and I wasn’t too impressed with it, I expected room service to be a lot better, but the staff were fantastic. Very helpful and always going the extra mile to get anything I requested done.

BulgariHotel05

The room was quite different then what I expected in London, even for a suite it was huge, and it was very spacious. They hid all the power plugs in drawers and the wifi was strong all over the room which was great. And the bathroom was the best part of the room, it was huge and the shower had amazing pressure, even the size of the shower was fantastic.

BulgariHotel06

This hotel was a surprise for me, I wasn’t expecting the the rooms to be like that, and the lobby is always buzzing with people. It is one of those funky hotels you have to try at least once, I don’t think I will stay there again. One thing that is a problem for me is the high price of the rooms, I got a deal this time around but on normal days this would have been a very expensive 48 hours. I would prefer trying another one of the amazing hotels in London but this is an amazing hotel, and one I don’t mind repeating.

50th Anniversary Lamborghini Event

LamborghiniGrandeTour1

Lamborghini is celebrating its 50th anniversary in style, and that includes a gathering of 350 ‘raging bull’ branded cars, which would take the tour starting from Milan up until Bologna, the end-point being the headquarters of Lamborghini! You know what, not all Lamborghinis were welcomed to join its 50th Anniversary Grand Tour. The brand had allowed only the modern and vintage model entry, that too with a valid license plate.

LamborghiniGrandeTour2

Thanks to the filtering, the fleet of supercars from the brand has been an interesting mix: 350 GTs, 400 GTs, Miuras, Espadas, Jaramas, Urracos, Countaches, LM 002, Diablos and Murcielagos. The five-day long tour from May 7 to May 11 would pass through breathtaking landscapes of Lombardia, Toscana, Lazio, Umbria and Emilia Romagna, stopping over in Forte Dei Marmi, Grosseto, Roma, San Giustino Valdarno and Bologna, where they will arrive on May 10.

LamborghiniGrandeTour3

So many beautiful machines in this event, out of the 350 beautiful Italian machines participating there are a few that are participating from Kuwait. How much better could it get to have a high speed escort across Italy being led by a Lamborghini Police Car. I spot four cars from Kuwait in the video, three together in the middle of the video and one orange one towards the 3/4’s of the video. So many beautiful colors, and some of the machines are a bit over the top but still fun, loved the sound of the exhausts in the video.

599 GTO In The Flesh

I remember reading and seeing so many images of the 599 GTO at the beginning of 2010. It was a limited edition run by Ferrari its the street going version of the 599XX, and it runs at about 661 bhp. I always loved the 599 and I thought that the 599 GTO would be just the same looking, but I was so very very wrong. I did a double take as I was walking out of the hotel, the last thing I thought I would see in Vancouver Canada is a 599 GTO parked right out front.

This vehicle looks so menacing with its aggressive stance and carbon fiber parts, the combination of colors make for a very mean machine. I literally walk around the car twice, taking a look at it from every angle and it is a beautiful sight. The funny part is the the guy’s license plate, it says “F1 GTO”, I do love personalized license plates.

The Borgias

TheBorgias

The Borgias chronicles the corrupt rise of patriarch Rodrigo Borgia to the papacy, where he proceeds to commit every sin in the book to amass and retain power, influence and enormous wealth for himself and his family. The unbounded audacity of this original crime family went on to inspire Machiavelli’s The Prince and Mario Puzo’s The Godfather.

Jeremy Irons plays Rodrigo Borgia, the man who becomes the Pope in 1492 and he does what ever needs to be done to retain the power. Jeremy Irons plays the character so well that at times I don’t know if he is a bad guy or just slightly misunderstood, but he is fantastic on the show. This is one of the best shows that I have seen in a while, I’m not the biggest fan of the shows based on the 15th century but this show really shocks you and leaves you on the edge of your seat with anticipation of whats going to happen next and what is involved with the Papacy, if you have seen it then you should watch it.

AMG To Purchase Ducati?

This is a little more then it seems, at the launch of the Diavel there was some exciting news about AMG and Ducati collaborating on a few porjects. At first I thought it was just for marketting reasons but after reading A&R’s article below it seems that Mercedes has interest to buy Ducati but they are feeling things out before proceeding. Ducati has had a spectacular 5 years with the debut of the 1098, they have really worked on the quality of their products and slowly expanding their product line. Ducati have had a bit of rough time earlier but these days they are on top and it seems that Mercedes has noticed, but they don’t want them because they are on top. They want them so that they have another arm of their business which is in direct competition with BMW, with an established product portfolio and distribution line, Mercedes wants to take on BMW. But what Mercedes and Ducati are trying to do is to see how they fit together, they each don’t want to alienate their customer and fan base, and Ducatiests are known to be loyal to the brand and don’t want any interference. I wonder how this would work out? Would they share their technical knowledge? Would distribution lines be streamlined? Would you start seeing Ducaties at Mercedes Dealerships? It is a shocking development and I’m not sure if its a good or bad thing, and it seems to Mercedes that there is a lot of good to take Ducati but they have to do carefully or a lot of damage will be done to either brand.

Review: The Tourist

American tourist Frank (Johnny Depp) meets a mysterious beauty who drags him into a dangerous world of intrigue and espionage while traveling through Europe. When Frank met Elise (Angelina Jolie) on the train, he thought it was a chance encounter. Little did Frank realize it was all part of a much bigger plan, one that would soon find him dodging bullets through both the historic streets of Paris and the winding canals of Venice. Now, the faster Frank and Elise run, the more intense their romance grows.

I kept hearing a lot of buzz around this movie, and I always go to any movie that stars Johnny Depp. People talked about Angelina Jolie that she is the star of the show but I’m a bit tired of her these days, she is over hyped and some of her movies haven’t been to great. Together they did a really good job of playing off each other and pulling the storyline together and Johnny Depp did a fantastic job playing the dumb American, you couldn’t help but feel sorry for the guy and he kept getting into trouble. The movie was and ended with a great twist, and I really like how from the halfway point to the end of the movie it was energetic, full of action, and fun.

Pagani Zonda Cinque vs. Lamborghini Murcielago LP640

If this doesn’t get your blood boiling, I don’t know what will! This is the definition of hot pursuit, Electronic Arts have taken to beautiful machines for a rea live Hot Pursuit, the live action version of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. Whoever is driving that Pagani Zonda has skill, he is drifting around corners in the mountain I would be freaked out in a VW Beetle.

2011 Ducati DIAVEL & Video

The final images of the Ducati Diavel have been revealed, and its one hell of a beauty. It comes in two versions the Diavel and the Diavel Carbon, the Carbon having more carbon fiber pieces and Marchesini rims which makes it lighter then the base model. The Ducati Diavel is packing a 162hp Testastretta 11º engine, 94 lbs•ft of torque, 456lbs (carbon) / 463lbs (base), radial brakes, ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire, and three riding modes. Based on previous assumption I think the base will be going for 4800 KWD and the Carbon will be around 5700 KWD, that is also assuming where it fits in the Ducati line up but I could be wrong of course. They managed to get that cruiser handling with Ducati charactiristics even though it a 240mm wide rear tire. I think this is one beautiful looking machine from Ducati.

The Ducati Diavel Carbon comes in either “red carbon” or “black carbon”, referring to the color of the paint on the trellis frame. Both versions of the Diavel Carbon will have black forged Marchesini wheels, which shed 5.5lbs off the Ducati Diavel’s base mass. The Carbon will also get Marzocchi forks, whose low-friction diamond-like-coating adds even more blackout to the hotness. Both bikes will get the full Ducati electronics package, which includes Ducati Traction Control (DTC), anti-lock brakes (ABS), rider-by-wire throttle control, keyless ignition, and rider-selectable riding modes.

The tank-mounted TFT display shows bike information such as the current riding mode, gear selection, DTC settings, etc. The TFT display senses the ambient light and choses whether or not to invert the display coloring to aid in daytime/nighttime reading. When stationary the secondary display also handles tuning the traction control and ride-by-wirse settings.

Ducati Diavel Pricing

So we have a bit of a glimpse of the pricing expected for the Ducati Diavel, you can expect two available types. One is the is the base type and the other is the Carbon version. The Ducati Diavel will start with an MSRP base price of $16,995, while the up-market carbon version will hit the wallet with an MSRP of $19,995. Rumored to make around 165hp, the Diavel is based off the same Testastretta 11º motor as the Ducati Multistrada 1200, and weighs 456lbs according to Ducati. Ducati has also revealed that the Diavel will come with variable riding modes, traction control, and anti-lock brakes. So about 4800 to 5700 KWD, but I’m assuming it will probably sell around 5500 to 6500 KWD based on my past experience of Kuwait’s pricing model, I still think that its a thing of beauty. From the other details they say that the Shock will be mount to the swing arm so you can’t see it in this rear picture below. Then you have to factor in the Termignoni exhaust system which will cost another arm and leg, I can’t wait to see this machine. Only one week left until it is revealed in EICMA.
