Chinese Zodiac Trailer – The Last Big Action From Jackie Chan

I’m a huge fan of Jackie Chan and I think I have seen a huge majority of his movies, I don’t think I have seen them all since he has made so many movies, many more then most actors. I always look forward to his movies or any movie he is in, be it action, comedy or drama. And this looks to be one of Jackie Chan’s best, an action packed movie with an interesting plot and Jackie Chan doing what he does best.

This is the first official trailer of Jackie Chan’s last BIG action movie Chinese Zodiac’s official trailer as releases in Cannes on 18 May 2012. Chan says he spent seven years working on the movie — writing, producing, directing and coordinating fight scenes.

“For the last ten years I’ve been choosing the director to direct me. This one I direct myself.” he said. “I hope this movie, 20 years later, people still remember it. For me, for the audience, for my future, for my history — it’s very important.”

The Hong Kong-born actor, 58, said: “I’ve been fighting and doing action films all my life, you’ve got to find a point to stop. With this movie I’m the director, I’m the writer, I’m the producer. So okay, I think it’s a good time to announce that it’s my last big action movie.
“I would still do action movies but not a big one like this.”

Review: Shaolin

China is plunged into strife as feuding warlords try to expand their power by warring over neighboring lands. Fuelled by his success on the battlefield, young and arrogant Hao Jie sneers at Shaolin’s masters after killing a rival warlord on their temple grounds. But the glory comes before a fall. His own family is wiped out in an unexpected turn of events and Hao is forced to take refuge with the monks. As the civil unrest spreads and the people suffer, Hao and the Shaolin masters are forced to take a fiery stand against the evil warlords. They launch a daring plan of rescue and escape.

This was one movie I was really looking forward to, any movie with Shaolin monks performing martial arts always interests me. But this case it was about a war lord who lost everything and joined the monastary he was first torturing and in that monastery Jackie Chan is an odd cook. At frirst I thought it would be a bit more comedic or exciting but still it was a very deep movie about a man who was an evil warlord and joins the monks only to fight the evil warlords. It gets interesting and you get caught up with it but I wanted more out of it.

Review: The Karate Kid

A lot of remakes have been made recently, and Karate Kid was at the top of my list. I’m a huge fan of Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith has a lot of potential. The story of a kid moving to China from Detroit and having no friends and doesn’t speak Chinese. Jaden plays the role of the kid who gets beat up and learns Kung Fu from Jackie Chan to face his fears and beat everyone. The story is told a different way then the original but I like the route they took, makes it less cheesy and pulls you into the story. I was a bit annoyed with some of the supporting characters, they should have been a little bit more colorful, a little bit more attitude. The relationship between Jackie Chan and Jaden in the movie as Master and Student is great, with the right amount of humor. And the fighting is pretty good, you could tell he went through a lot of training, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but it was a funny movie to watch, I wanted it to be better but I had high expectations, still a fun movie to watch.

Shaolin – Trailer – Benny Chan

China is plunged into strife as feuding warlords try to expand their power by warring over neighboring lands. Fuelled by his success on the battlefield, young and arrogant Hao Jie sneers at Shaolin’s masters when he beats one of them in a duel. But the pride comes before a fall. When his own family is wiped out by a rival warlord, Hao is forced to take refuge with the monks. As the civil unrest spreads and the people suffer, Hao and the Shaolin masters are forced to take a fiery stand against the evil warlords. They launch a daring plan to rescue and escape.

Now this is an interesting movie with a bunch of good actors, no clue about the subbing of the movie yet since it hasn’t been released but I love Shoalin movies. This type of martial arts versus those army brats who think they are better with a very deep story, how could it not be good. From the trailer I can tell a few things but still a bit confusing, I can’t wait to get this movie.

Karate Kid – Trailer

Who isn’t a fan of Karate Kid from the old days, we all did that move at the end, don’t lie you know you did. After that movie I thought I could beat anyone up, but I severely wrong and ended up with a bloody lip. I think I was just missing Mr Miyagi and I would have been good to go, but this movie is looking good to. Seems like Jaden Smith is making his name from movie to movie, he did pretty well in Pursuit of Happiness, and now an action martial arts movie with Jackie Chan. This is the first Western Movie that I see Jackie Chan playing a serious role, and I like where this is going. There is humor tied in with the serious part of the story, Jackie Chan plays an interesting role, and I like the role Jaden is playing.

Karate Kid – The Remake

Now this I wasn’t expecting, a lot of movies have been remade over the past 10 years and have been done mostly successfuly. But now a new remake is on the horizon, this many can relate to, the reason why Karate rose to such a high level during the 1980s and everyone started taking those Karate classes, everyone wanted to have a Mr.Miyagi as their teacher but now its taking a slightly different twist.

Jaden Smith (Will Smith’s son) is now the new Karate Kid, and the master is none other then Jackie Chan. I’m not sure what to expect from this combination of actors and Will Smith is producing the movie. It does a slightly different feel but with the same idea as single mom moving from the US to China, but I wonder how this is going to turn out, but I’m looking forward to it.

Shinjuku Incident – Jackie Chan

I follow all Jackie Chan movies religiously, even if people think its a bit lame, I think he is amazing for performing his own stunts and being so lively in all the characters he plays.

Now this is a new movie which is a little different then what you would expect from Jackie Chan. This movie revolves around the tension between the history of the Chinese and Japanese which isn’t spoken of too often. Its story about a farmer working in China, who left for Japan to find his niece, whats very interesting is that you see the deeper side of the story because you get both the Chinese and Japanese actors. Surprisingly this movie has been banned in China, I am really looking forward to seeing it.

Review: The Forbidden Kingdom

Now this was a movie was I really looking forward to, two of my favorite Eastern Actors in one movie. I’m a huge fan of martial arts and sometimes I even don’t care about the storyline just to see the fight scenes but this movie was a little different. It simply revolves around the kick who has to return the Monkey King’s staff back to him to fight the Jade Emporer, and he has to two masters to train him and help him. Jet Li and Jackie Chan are the two masters and they come from different backgrounds in China with interesting parts to them, and the kid gets the hell beat out of him. Its a funny martial arts story with a heartfelt ending, any person who likes a fun martial arts movie will really like this.

Review: Kung Fu Panda

Jack Black combined with Dreamworks pictures have produced one hell of a movie. I haven’t laugh this hard in a while, the animation is nothing short of fantastic. Everyone in the theater was laughing, after leaving the movie I don’t think there was anyone who wanted to try some Kung Fu. This is the perfect combination of a movie, amazing animation, very easy to watch, great comedy, and fantastic story line. The other interesting part is that Angelina Jolie and Jackie Chan are also this movie, its just filled with colorful characters. Everyone should go see this movie, you will be laughing and enjoying it.
