Review: The Expendables 2

Mr. Church reunites the Expendables for what should be an easy paycheck, but when one of their men is murdered on the job, their quest for revenge puts them deep in enemy territory and up against an unexpected threat.

It’s rare that the second movie is better then the first one, but this one is, and if you are a fan of the 80s movies then you really have to watch this one. And this time they brought in Chuck Norris & Jean Claude Van Damme, a true 80s action packed movie, with a damn good bad guy, true 80s style but modernized for our time. The fine art of 80s/90s action movies has been lost and we are stuck with very complex stories requiring our complete attention to know what the hell is going in a movie. You get the right dosage of a story with more action and Chuck Norris thrown in for good measure, how could this not be good. You know there are movie one liners that you will always remember like “Yippy Ka Yay Mother Fucker!!”. Well this one is filled with them and you will love every moment of it. When Chuck Norris joins the battle, Arnie sighs and moans, ‘Who’s next… Rambo?’, that is the best of the movie. At one point in the film, Arnie turns to Bruce and Sly and says, ‘we belong in a museum’. In a way, he’s right. This is the last gasp of this type of film and perhaps the perfect homage to a golden age.

Review: The Expendables

An all-star cast of action-movie icons headline Sylvester Stallone’s explosive action thriller about a group of hard-nosed mercenaries who are double-crossed during a treacherous mission. Approached by the shadowy Church to overthrow tyrannical South American dictator General Gaza (David Zayas) and restore order to the troubled island country of Vilena, stoic soldier of fortune Barney Ross (Stallone) rounds up an unstoppable team that includes former SAS soldier and blade specialist Lee Christmas (Jason Statham); martial arts expert Yin (Jet Li); trigger-happy Hale Caesar (Terry Crews); cerebral demolitions expert Toll Road (Randy Couture); and haunted sniper Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), a combat veteran who never misses his mark.

Now this was a rag tag bunch of guys blowing up cars, buildings, and pretty much everything else. I haven’t seen a movie such as this in a long time, not much of a script except for some very fun characters with a lot of fighting and shooting. I was excited to see The Expendables and it didn’t disapoint, its not going to win an Oscar but you will enjoy what Stallone and his crew have to offer, a great enjoyable movie. I am a really big fan of the action genre and this has all of the best stars wrapped up into one package. It’s every action junkies dream.

The Expendables Trailer

Now this is a movie I have been hearing rumors about for a long time, all I kept hearing is that Stallone kept recurriting different actors and now you can see it in this trailer. This is exactly the type of movie I love watching, non-stop action with some humor thrown in. The best part is a lot of my favorite actors are in it, Jet Li and Jason Statham being the top two and the team is hilarious and the action is fantastic. Now we just have to wait for the release.

Review: The Forbidden Kingdom

Now this was a movie was I really looking forward to, two of my favorite Eastern Actors in one movie. I’m a huge fan of martial arts and sometimes I even don’t care about the storyline just to see the fight scenes but this movie was a little different. It simply revolves around the kick who has to return the Monkey King’s staff back to him to fight the Jade Emporer, and he has to two masters to train him and help him. Jet Li and Jackie Chan are the two masters and they come from different backgrounds in China with interesting parts to them, and the kid gets the hell beat out of him. Its a funny martial arts story with a heartfelt ending, any person who likes a fun martial arts movie will really like this.

Review: The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor

There was a lot of hype revolving this release of The Mummy, and I thought it would be interesting. At this rate sort of have the storyline down, monster comes alive, Brandon has to find a way to kill monster, the end. So I thought they had to have a slightly different approach to keep things interesting. I was wrong, it felt like it wasn’t put together correctly, it doesn’t flow well and you don’t know all the characters as you get to know them before. And I thought Jet Li had a bigger role, but not enough martial arts. I wouldn’t go to this movie if you haven’t seen it, there are better ones out there.
