Water Time!

This year the summer is cooling off earlier then usual which is a good and bad thing, I love the sea but I also love to ride. But while its still hot we are getting into the water as much as possible, and the other day the water was a bit rough but still amazing to swim in and so we headed off to Al Halah, a little island that pops up at low tide and disappears at high tide. It was a lovely cool breeze as we were on our way and honestly everything was just right, and we were have a bite from the watermelon we had packed in the ice box, took us about 15 to 20 mins to get there from our starting point.

There were a good dozen boats parked by the Island, and a few that got stuck because they went into shallow waters, honestly I would have made the same mistake if my friends didn’t tell me not to go there. The water was really nice there and we saw a couple of people that we knew. While in the water honestly the best thing to drink other then water is Shani, for some reason it just tastes so damn good and refreshing in the water, and I for one love Shani. We spent a little over an hour there before the current started to get stronger around the Island because the tide was coming back and it was dragging us away from the Island. Al Halah island is known to have whirlpools so we stuck close to the island while swimming, then we decided to head back since I knew lunch was on the way and we needed some time to get the equipment out of the water and take a shower. But while on the way back I made a quick stop to get the wakeboard out and try to wakeboard back which almost killed me, I love wakeboarding but I have NO stamina, I need to build up my stamina, I do love the water so much.

3 Ride Out

In the morning @7:45 am in Mishref, we had a very long ride planned out and all the machines came out that day. Its been too long but Robo also came out after all this time, so the KTM and Ducati were out. Three of us wanted to do a lot of riding, we had one planned all the place and with three experienced riders we decided to take long fun routes.

Route:

  • Bayan Gas Station
  • Julai’a for a bite to eat
  • Back to the city
  • Taking the GulfRoad starting @ Miseela
  • GulfRoad to KPC
  • KPC to the 2nd Ring Road
  • 2nd Ring Road to the GulfRoad to Salmiya all the way down to Bida’a
  • Bida’a to the 6th Ring Road then to the Airport
  • Airport to Sabhan then to Mubarak Al Kabeer where we almost ran out of Gas
  • Filled up at Malik Fahad Gas Station in Al Qurain before heading home

We got in over 4 hours of riding, my odometer added over 350 Kilometers that day and I had a lot of fun, whenever we made a stop I would switch to another playlist to listern to. The feeling of those corners that we were enjoying were fantastic, I wanted to go knee down into some corners forgetting everything but the riding and the machine. What felt odd was that I was riding the KTM and Monichum was riding the Ducati and even when it was over 7 meters away from me I could clearly hear the exhaust tone of Pyro over the music and sound of the machine I was on, I need an exhaust for Tango. What an amazing day, the weather was fantastic, the roads were mostly empty, we saw other riders and as soon as I was done I felt that my day was fulfilled, I felt satisfied with this accomplishment, and it was still early in the day with so much to do, nothing beats a good day out riding.

Ride Out on Oct 4th

So for a while now I get emails about people wanting organized group rides, usually I refer them to the BMW Motorcycle Club since they are a good group and take everyone under their wing. This time around I’m doing this a little differently, I’m usually only riding with a few friends in Kuwait. This time around its an open invitation to those who would like to ride, its just a simple outing for anyone who wants to try a group ride for once, I don’t think I will be doing this often since I usually don’t ride around this time but I thought I might try organizing it. This is a night ride starting at Bida all the way to Julai’a Starbucks and back to Miseela gas station.

Meet Up:
Location: Starbucks Bida’a Strip
Date: Oct 4th
Time: 6:00 pm (Meet Up Time) – 6:30 pm (We Leave Bida’a to head to gas station and then Julai’a)
*I will be on the Ducati 1098 or KTM RC8, easy bikes to find in a crowd

One note, if you are a novice rider I don’t recommend that you try a night ride in this group. We aren’t a bunch of professionals such as the people from Tristar or Harley Davidson. We are going to keep it as safe as possible, but let it be noted we keep a fast pace.
