Good Will

A lot of accidents happen in Kuwait, and there are a lot of angry people on the road, that I see everything morning, angry men and women honking nonstop. There isn’t a lot of common courtesy these days which is disappointing, but at the same time I never give up hope or be courteous to people who do signal. It annoys me when I signal and have to get to an exit and people drive fast to block me so I don’t get in front of them, this happens a lot and most of the time I let people through. I for one do have road rage issues and I do get pissed on the road a lot but I try not to do anything wrong to someone while driving intentionally or unintentionally. But the people who drive me mad are the people who slow down to look at any accident or small bumper to bumper when thankfully nothing is wrong with the people.

In this case this shows me that people do have the will to help others, on the Airport Road (50) I just got off from the 6th ring road and 360 Mall was on my right. As I was getting to the exit for the fifth ring road under south surra bridge we suddenly see a lot of smoke and a big bang and everyone starts braking. Then I see a white car in the air about 100 meters in front of me to the right. I was all the way on the left and as I got closer it was a white 4 door Hilux flipped over and people ran to it, the weight of the car was on the people inside and they couldn’t get them out. So within minutes there were at least 10 men, they tried to push it and within seconds they become 20, they pushed the car and more people joined and they flipped it over and started to pull people out of the wreckage. I called 112 and stayed on the line and told them they needed an ambulance as fast as possible. When the police arrived, I left and that was all that could be done and inshalla the men inside that car survived. What gave me hope is to see so many people want to help those men, and put themselves in harms way to move that car because they couldn’t get them out, and every person from every nationality. I do believe in the inherent nature of humans to be good and seeing this only makes me believe it more, it still annoyed me that people were slowing down just to see but those who stopped did help.

The Days Are Still Cool

These days its getting a bit warmer but still there is a lot of riding left, I’m trying to get in as much as I can at this point. This past weekend we rode about 350 Km around town, from Bida’a to Doha to Subhan and back to Bida’a for something to drink. It was an intense ride since we wanted to ride as much as possible during that amazingly cool morning, and the dust lifted from the night before.

This time around we were a bit more organized with the riding since we had plan, and a few different routes which made things interesting. The 1st ring road has turned into one amazing corner, at least the new part is, its the perfect curve, I hope they don’t install a camera there any time soon. Recently I have modified both the Diavel and 1098 so that my license plate is somewhat hidden.

After a nice long ride we had a nice cool drink, we thirsty as hell and I didn’t let anyone stop for a drink the whole day since I wanted to enjoy the ride as much as we could. There are a few surprises in the pictures below since we had a lovely machine join us in the previous ride I had to put the pictures up.

This Week’s Movie Line Up

So many movies so little time, this is the list of movies that I have recently downloaded, a few good blockbusters and a few interseting movies that I haven’t had a good look at yet. I want to watch Underworld Awakening since I have always been a fan of the movie series since the original Underworld, and I’m a big fan of Kate Bakinsale. Then if I feel like a ridiculous movie then The Legend of the Awesomest Maximus is at the top of this list, and a dirty comedy would be The Sitter. I wish I had the time to finish all the movies I have piled up.

  • Underworld Awakening
  • One For The Money
  • Carnage
  • Colombus Circle
  • Machine Gun Preacher
  • The Descendents
  • Sket
  • The Muppets
  • We Bought A Zoo
  • Dark Tide
  • Seeking Justice
  • The Awakening
  • The Legend of Awesomest Maximus
  • The Sitter
  • Young Adult

Riding With The Hooligans

This was probably one of the longer rides we have had in a while and the weather was just perfect, a lot of riders came out and this was probably the largest group of riders we have had together in a while, with an interesting mix of riders and machines.

We were out riding from 7 am and didn’t stop until 3:30 pm all over Kuwait in different routes, its been a while since I had to fill up twice in one ride but it was fun and we did have our shenanigans on our little adventure.

I honestly can’t get enough of the Diavel, it is such a fun machine to ride and amazing around the corners. No Sport Cruiser can compare to it, its on par with most sport bikes and you just can’t wipe that grin off your face when you are pushing it as much as you can. These days its getting a bit warm so I’m trying to ride as much as I can before the hot season comes in, sometimes I wish I could take my Diavel with me on the plane to Europe and ride around for a while from town to town.

Profiting From The SandStorm?

This is probably one of the strangest and most fearsome sandstorms we have seen in Kuwait yet. Malls turned orange, cars were covered in sand, and houses were flooded with sand. Now the next day it was an insane cleaning ordeal but I didn’t think about what people would do other then clean their houses.

When driving around town the next day you see the long lines at car washes in different areas. There was a huge line at the Bayan Carwash backed up to the 5th ring road exit onto Fahaheel. The Qurtoba Carwash caused traffic on the 4th ring road to come to a stand still. Al Falah Car Wash was packed you would have to wait for hours to get your car washed. My car is still all dusty and I’m just waiting until things get back to normal to get it washed.

When I went to X-Cite Alghanim to pick up something I needed I saw a ton of people going back and forth to the Kitchen section and I didn’t know why when the rest of the place was empty and one ninja was playing around with the iPad 2. Then I was cart after cart of vacuum cleaners, air filters units, and portable AC units, they were going by the second, it made sense. Later on in the day I thought about getting a air filter only to find out that they were sold out in X-Cite, Electrozan, and Eureka. They must be making a fortune selling all their stock.

Kuwait Charity Run

Kuwait Charity Run and Bayt Abdullah Children’s Hospice Have Teamed Up To Bring To You In 2011 Kuwait 1st-Half Marathon.

Its exciting to see events such as these in Kuwait, and all for a very good cause. The half marathon will be on Saturday March 19th starting at 8am. There are many professional and keen runners that have prepared for the 21km run, this is Kuwait’s 1st half marathon. They also have a 10km run for those who want to participate but have not trained for the 21km. All registration fees will be donated to Bayt Abdullah’s Children Hospice

I have been very happy to see the support that Bayt Abdulla has recieved in Kuwait, and I hope it continues to grow. I for one will be excited to see this marathon, I will donate but not run since I’m horrible shape these days.

Flash Forward – On Hold

One of the main guys on the show, David Goyer, is leaving Flash Forward now which has resulted in a hault in production. Most TV shows are now back on, but now we are on hold until March when the shows are supposed to air again. It seems the ABC had a creative difference basically meaning they didn’t like where the TV show was going so the show is on short vacation. I know people are loving the show but the press keeps reporting about all the bad things happening with Flash Forward, doesn’t look like it’s future is safe at this point, too bad I really liked the show.
