Paul Walker – RIP

PaulWalker1

Paul Walker or Brian O’Conner as we have known him over the past decade has passed away in a car accident. This is all over the news this morning since his film crew posted the news on twitter with all the major news agencies following up. He was a passenger in a Porsche GT with his friend driving and they were leaving from a Charity that PW was attending to raise money for the Philippines Typhoon Tragedy. At 40 years old we all know him from the Fast & The Furious Franchise that every car enthusiast loves and especially me, that was probably one of the movies that I really loved and especially the craziness that took place after the movie in the parking lots.

PW looked like himself as Brian O’Conner in the movie and honestly I loved that they kept making more of them and the last few just kept getting better, guaranteeing them to make 7 & 8. It is very sad for his family and friends, and personally I always got this vibe that is a good guy and easy going, it is a tragic accident.

You can read more about the details of the crash and what eye witnesses said from the NY Post Website

Wheelchair Freestyle – Wheelz – Gnarly!

Watching this video I felt inspired by this man who saw no limits to what he could do. I love the DevinSuperTramp Videos because they are amazing to watch and makes you want to be in them and do what he was doing, but this video touchs you in a different way. This young man didn’t let life stop him from doing what he wants to do, and he is more determined then 90% of people out there including myself.

Anime List 11/13

Valvrave

There is only so much time in a day and I always try to sneak in an episode of anime any which way possible. I watch it on my laptop, on the iPad, or on my Phone. I have all my anime stored but a lot of times I watch it on the anime App called CrunchyRoll. When that App first came out it didn’t matter where you were located you got to see all that was available but as of the last year you have to be in the US or Europe to see every Anime available which annoys me. I want access to my shows and I’m paying them monthly to stream everything so for that you should be able to watch whatever they have, these studio politics stops people from genuinely enjoying the shows they love. But I get to watch what I want one way or another.

Peacock – The Disappointment

Peacock1

Long waiting lists, months in advance to book, this is the process that everyone heard about when the peacock reopened after being shutdown for years. For the longest time The Peacock was the best Chinese place for a very long time, and people would fly in just to taste the amazing food. Over the years the taste deteriorated towards the end but they said with the launch of the revamped hotel the staff were for the Peacock were top knotch.

As I called to make the booking for a few people it was about two weeks ahead to get lunch on the weekend and 4 weeks ahead to get a dinner for more then 6 people. So I just booked for a few of us to try it out and I was honestly very excited to go to. We walked in and got seated within 5 minutes and it is exactly the same setting that it was 10 years ago, just a few touches, some people like that it stayed the same I was hoping that they might have decided to changes things up but at the end all I care about is the food.

Peacock2

  • Spring Rolls & Prawn Toast
  • Crispy Noodles & Sweet And Sour Chicken
  • Peking Duck

Very simple order, straight forward and every Chinese place has the same sort of items, and I remember ordering at this restaurant since I was a kid. The appetizers came out quickly but the main course took over 30 minutes to get to the table and they mixed up our orders with the table next to us.

Overall the taste of the food was a bit disappointing and too oily for my taste. I was expecting it to be a bit more refined then your hole in the wall type Chinese place. It just wasn’t up to par, and the waiting list to get a reservation is getting shorter, and in my case I canceled my next reservation. The service wasn’t that great, and the food was disappointing not what I was expecting for a place with so much history.

iPad Air in Kuwait

iPad2013_3

The iPad air has made it’s way to Kuwait and it is flying off the shelves. Now the iPad Mini 2 is up for sale on Apple as of a few days ago but hasn’t made it to Kuwait yet. As usual there are few stores that have it in stock and Blink is on top of it.

Blink.com.kw – iPad Air

  • 16 GB Wifi – 165 KWD
  • 32 GB Wifi – 219 KWD
  • 64 GB Wifi – 259 KWD
  • 128 GB Wifi – 295 KWD
  • 16 GB 4G – 219 KWD

Pricing in Kuwait ranges from 15% to 30% more then the Apple Store prices but that isn’t too bad considering that 10-15 KWD would be attributed to shipping, and we would still be cheaper then buying it in the UK. I for one am going to wait for the iPad Mini 2 because it has all the specifications and features that I want.

Thor 2: The Dark World – Trailer

Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

The first Thor was bad ass, and everyone who isn’t familiar with Thor’s story got introduced to him and the mythical Asgard. Now they take a step further with this Epic battle, that it seems that even Thor can’t win. This movie looks to be an Epic sequel, I love that Marvel keeps taking these movies to the next level to impress their anxious fans.

Nexus 4 – The Transition

I have been using the Nexus 4 for about a week now and it hasn’t disappointed at all, its fast smooth, no glitches, they even had two updates since I had it and I didn’t even bother checking why. I have wanted to write a full in depth review about everything this phone can do and just whats different about it being from LG. I will get into that later since I do want to give it justice, just know that if you are getting it then you are going to be very happy. I’m going to make the switch from the Galaxy Nexus to the Nexus 4 by this coming Sunday but my only hang up is one thing, I don’t want to cut my chip or replace it, but it seems that I can’t really use it anymore, I want to keep the old school MTC Vodafone colors, my only two options is either to cut the chip or replace, in this case I think I may just replace it and keep the chip since its for sentimental reasons. The hardware on this phone is top notch and it works that way, I have abused it and the battery is impressive, the build quality is perfect, feels good in your hand. I will follow up with an indepth write up on the phone. Also I blame Apple for my predicament, why the hell do they keep having to change the damn SIM Cards, I don’t think anyone had a problem with that, I also think we can lose them more easily these days.

On The IV

I’m not one to get sick easily or even usually get sick, the flu doesn’t last more then two days with me, even with food poisoning I have handled it differently but this is something that took me down and kept me home for more then 5 days. Being stationary at home for five days didn’t stop work from coming home, too many things to do and a few people on vacation but still had some things piling up that needed to get done.

I caught a stomach virus from someone and the tough thing about it is that the doctor wasn’t sure which type was it, and they gave me a certain type of antibiotic and pain medication, worked for a few hours then later in the evening turning to an insane amount of pain which resulted in a hospital visit. After leaving the hospital at dawn I was hoping it would kick in quicker, but not until I woke up the next morning did I feel better. I have to say that even Mubarak Hospital is pretty well equipped and they have good people but they are overwhelmed. The recovery process is slow as hell and still recovering, the bathroom became my second home, and barely functional the first few days of the week. I didn’t even bother staying in communication online, wasn’t that coherent either, was just too exhausted.

Luckily I managed to catch up on a ton of tv shows, a ridiculous amount, but I know that work piled up for me when I get and I’m not fully recovered but still gotta to go in. The first thing I tried was a few different foods to see if my stomach had any disagreements but luckily two tests were successful but I’m not going to push my luck at all.

Recent Kickstarter Pledges – Piccolo LED & ORA IPAD SOUND SYSTEM

I have always been a fan of LED lights, but sometimes they are just too bright or not bright enough. Surprisingly the high quality LED desk lamps are a bit more on the expensive side, there are those that are cheaper but not that good quality. The Piccolo peaked my interest so I pledged for it, not just because it produces a warm light which is not meant to over power the ceiling lights, instead its meant to compliment it and the right type of light when you don’t want the lights above switched on. Also one other cool factor for me is that it is power by USB which I think it is a genius feature.

I use my iPad to watch a lot of shows and anime, the one thing about it that is annoying is the speakers, most of the time I’m using headphones which work fine but the iPad speakers are good enough for music and not watching media when you want it a bit louder then what its capable of. It looks like I wasn’t the only one thinking that, and that is the idea behind the ORA iPad Sound System. These people are passionate about sound and this Kickstarter project is an ambitious one, they are really aiming high with it. A perfectly fit case to make a great watching experience on your iPad.

Designed by a team that has created products for the likes of TDK, Intel, Vizio, and Nike, the aluminum case/stand packs eight front-spacing speakers (tuned by the former engineer lead of Bose) into the space surrounding the screen, giving you a far more immersive sound experience than you’re used to from your tablet.
