Canon EOS 70D – Next Gen DSLR

CanonEOS70D1

Canon always comes up with the perfect combination of hardware to make for the perfect device, and now these days people use DSLR for both video and photography but in this case they have with the new Canon 70D, the killer feature of continuous AutoFocus while recording Vidoe. Its not meant to replace the 7D but its capabilities seem very close to it.

From all the trials it seems the new 70D AF system works very well, with its new CMOS sensor’s 20.2 Megapixel resolution being divided into 40.1 million-photodiode architecture, so two diodes for each pixel, and their phase detection system working with the diodes resulting in the amazing AF system. I honestly can’t wait to try it out.

The main attraction of this DSLR is the instant Autofocus that they have built into the 70D. I have the 7D which I adore and it takes amazing photographs and I have used it for video, with amazing results, but the only major issue is that you have to manually focus the camera during shooting which can be very difficult and if you haven’t practiced the results are usually pretty bad. But production companies have been using the 5D & 7D for Commercials, TV Shows, and even some movies which is amazing. The camera will be available in September for $1200 (body alone), $1350 (w/18-55mm kit lens), and $1550 (w/18-135mm kit lens). But in my case I’m going to hold out and wait for the 7D Mark II which I hope is right after the 70D is released.

Architecture of Kuwait

AOK is a platform dedicated to showcasing Kuwait’s creative talents through online projects and portfolios, providing you with creative opportunities, and exposure to the world of design.

Architecture of Kuwait is an extremely well done website that displays all sort of architecture and design projects taking place in Kuwait. I have recently been following them because of a post on 248am and they have some very nicely done articles and I love the pictures, always high quality photographs of the projects. They do show some projects that are coming to Kuwait or in the plan to be done, and some of them are amazing. There is also an interesting job section for people in the field of architecture and design which I think is very unique for this type of site. I do enjoy some of the highlight items they cover and I check every few days to see whats new, and I hope they continue to build this site as it has a lot of amazing potential.

Yakuza In Pictures

The Yakuza are one of the most dangerous organizations currently operating in Asia and specifically in Japan, and they have been around for a long time. I tend to find the Yakuza to be extremely interesting with their complex set of rules and honor system, there are those are living by the old code and those living by the money. It is a difficult world to see let a long penetrate, but through two years of perseverance Anton Kusters from Belgian managed to gain the group’s confidence and bring photographs of this world to light. Be warned some of the photographs are explicit.

The Secret Life Of Toys

Being a huge Star Wars fan these pictures tell a story, I loved every one of them. Photographs such these bring real feel to these models, bathroom one is a classic. These close ups must have been done with a Macro Lens and they are fantastic. A simple idea telling a great story, your toys are alive.

This particular series features Star Wars characters who have been hit hard by the recession. I hope the stimulus plan reaches the Death Star!

The White House has a Flickr Page

I have to say that its pretty cool that the President of the United States has a Flickr page. I think a lot of people like Obama and have hope in the guy, but he does throw in a few surprises here and there. It was mentioned that he refused to give up his Blackberry when he became President, and I really can’t blame him for it, now the NSA are working on a super Blackberry for him with all the security needed. Now they have this official Flickr page and there are some very nice pictures, I wonder what is the approval process to post up these pictures because it must be a security nightmare to have these up on the net, but he does seem to be a friendly guy.

These pictures are amazing, there is an amazing depth and clarity to them. There are a lot of photos that I liked and I think take a lot of skill to snap at that right moment, Pete Souza is one amazing photographer, I wonder how they choose him. Anyone notice that the official White House Dog “Bo” has white feet when the dog is totally black?
