Robo Gone From The Stable

I remember the first time I laid eyes on the BMW K1200R in BMW Motorrad on Park Lane in London. I fell in love with the beast, BMW came out with a machine that destoryed the competition that was based purely on the need to make a machine that was based purely on passion and engineering. I was remember ordering mine at the end of 2005 and getting it on Feb 2006, and I rode for so many months, into the heat, and I would smile every time I was on that bike. The BMW K1200R is machine that would make anyone smile the moment they twisted the throttle, amazing around corners and those brakes saved me many times.

Over the last two years I haven’t been riding Robo as much, I would always want to but I would end up riding on Diablo because I would want something light and nimble. I for one have a difficult time parting with my machines, I feel like they are linked to me since I have been through so much with them. A few people asked me if the bike was for sale a long time ago and I would be unsure about it, and I always think about the new owner and decide to keep him. But at this point I have too many bikes and not enough time in the world to ride as much as I want. I used to even go back home and switch bikes then go back out again to make sure I ride them. Now Robo has departed my stable and is with a new loving owner, honestly I wouldn’t sell Robo to anyone who doesn’t know what they are getting or is unaware of motorcycles, I wanted him to be appreciated for being such an amazing motorcycle and a new page for BMW road motorcycles, getting into the gritier side of riding. Well now I am down to three and enjoying them!

Refreshing Ride

I get anxious these days to ride and enjoy going out with the few remaining days of cool weather. Saturday late afternoon just before sunset is the perfect time to ride other then waking up at the break of dawn. I enjoy riding at dawn the most because of the empty streets but these days I have been so busy I take what ever sleep I can get. I put my gear on, with the new playlist which is perfect on a decent ride so I can listen through it. I always have my songs on playlist repeat and shuffled songs so I don’t know what to expect, some songs get me energized so I got faster and ride harder and some songs make me want to stand on the pegs and dance. I used to do that in the US, dance to the songs, tap the tank and enjoy myself, but in Kuwait I don’t do too much of that so they won’t think I’m insane and so they won’t run me over.

The cool weather is a perfect 26C as I’m riding, and the best thing about the K1200R is that it doesn’t cook your legs when its warmed up. A fun ride around town and a ton of torque at my control. Song after song I was enjoying getting through traffic and enjoying the roads, at sunset there is some traffic but not too much. One thing that I noticed recently is that over the years a lot of people are more considerate to drivers, they move slightly to the side giving you the inside lane to get through knowing the bike is faster. It was a fun ride, after taking a fun route to my cousins house we chilled and watched BSG before heading home around 10:00 pm and I was riding fast to get home, your mind just gets into a precise zone when riding at night, it felt like I was flowing through, precision riding, judging cars, corners, distance, and speed, its a fantastic feeling when riding.

Friday – Breakfast Ride

Getting up early in the morning isn’t too hard when the weather is this nice and sunny outside, it was perfectly chilly. Showered and went down, got my leather jacket out and ready to go, warmed up the beemer for the ride, Robo was ready to go. I have been enjoying riding Robo a lot recently, I have missed this beast and he is one hell of a beast, a scary mechanical brute who can destroy all at will. All my bikes have personalities in my head and Robo in this case has the soul of Iron Hide from Transformers, ready to fight, shoot first and ask questions later.

We took an easy route by the sea side then heading to the free zone, and I was just enjoying the brute force of this machine. Monichum was enjoying the joyride we were taking, every corner was an adventure, from turn to turn, the best part is how empty the roads were, and then head to the free zone for a few shots. After we were done we met up with the guys at Prime & Toast, pretty much we were the first and got the seats together before the other lazy guys got up and came over.
