Tokyo Dirt

Speedtractor teams up with friends, Animal Boat CC and Iceblock Films to find that there is indeed dirt in Tokyo…you just have to look for it.

Japan is one of the places that I need to visit, there is so much I want to see there yet I haven’t had the chance. There are those who follow the rules to the T in Japan, and then there are those who live outside the rules and this case this is what Tokyo Dirt is, a look into the other side of motorcycling culture in Japan. There is a different feeling for those who love motorcycles, and crosses all the barriers of borders, race and language, it is its own culture.

Review: Muv-Luv Alternative – Total Eclipse

MuvLuv1

In 1973, an invasion of aliens known as BETA upon Earth is driving human civilization into nearly collapse. Facing an enormous mass of enemy force, mankind has developed large humanoid arms called as Tactical Surface Fighters and deployed them to its defense lines through out the world. However, all those efforts could slow down defeats but could not stop BETA, and mankind is forced to abandon major area of the Eurasian Continent. For 30 years, mankind is bogged down in an endless war against BETA without any hopes of victory.
In 2001, the Imperial Japan faces difficulties in the development of a next-generation main Tactical Surface Fighters (TSF) as it defends the front lines of the Far East. The UN has proposed a joint development program between the Imperial Japan and the United States as a part of its international mutual development project of TSF, the Prominence Project.
This story with exciting human dramas and robot actions takes place in the development of a new Tactical Surface Fighters, the most important and effective weapons against BETA, at a crisis of human extinction.
Yet they never knew that their encounter would change their destiny drastically.
Yui Takamura, a TSF pilot of the Imperial Royal Guards of Japan, is given responsibility for the project and sets off to Alaska. Meanwhile, Yuya Bridges, also a TSF pilot of the US Army, was heading to the same destination.

MuvLuv2

I do love Mecha Anime, thats the first thing I saw, I didn’t know what to expect, but I love it when I see robots, and this time around Muv-Luv Alternative was an interesting story. You get pulled into the characters from the beginning with a few more interesting characters getting introduced, and the world is fighting a losing battle against an Alien Force that just won’t stop. I can’t help but like because it has the Mecha machines and the battles are cool. The story is decent, not great, there are few things that just didn’t make sense but the battles made up for and the wacky characters too. If you want a good Mecha anime, then Muv-Luv does the job, don’t have high expectations and enjoy.

Current Reading

With a million things going on and a lot of shows to watch I haven’t had much time to read these days, but I decided a few weeks ago to start reading some of the books which are piling up. The hardest part is choosing the book to start with, and all of them are very different. I just decided to read the books that I will find most interesting and entertaining at the moment.

  • Tokyo Vice
  • Haliburton’s Army
  • Enemies & Allies

Review: Needless

Plot Summary: In the near future, mankind has suffered from a Third World War, leaving extreme damage all over and forced mankind to become even more distinct from their species. The world was at chaos and from this chaos comes a new species: “Needless”. The Needless are humans who have contracted a “disease” as humans may call them, and allow them to wield extraordinary powers far superior to any mankind. Their abilities include Telekinesis, elemental powers, gravity control, adaptation, radioactive release and all manners of scientific impossibility.

After a catastrophic event in Tokyo there became a no mans land in the middle of Tokyo, and the people who were in the middle of that zone were on their own. People started developing different powers, from telekinesis, to super speed, to super strength. Adam Blade is that funny crazy character who doesn’t stop fighting for what he thinks is right and he is also powerful and an idiot. Its a funny show but lacking a good story, it starts off pretty good but you never really get pulled in, the characters just don’t develop that you know them, you enjoy it you laugh but the ending and the whole thing just doesn’t feel satisfying once your done.

Unique Garage

There is always something special about a well kept garage but this house in Tokyo takes it to the next level. The client told the architects his requirements and they had 185 sq. meters to work with to make this project successful. The one main requirement is that it can store all 9 of his cars and they are visible from his living room. They ended up making a pristine garage with one lift to make the Lamborghini Countach Anniversary Edition viewable from the living room, now that is a nice view. The interior feels like a showroom rather then a living room, needs some more color and more of a personal touch to look lived in.

Review: Shinjuku Incident

A simple Chinese immigrant wages a perilous war against one of the most powerful criminal organizations on the planet in this sprawling action drama directed by Derek Yee (ONE NIGHT IN MONGKOK) and starring Jackie Chan, Daniel Wu, and Masaya Kato.

Jackie Chan is one of my all time favorite actors because he is good at what he does and sticks to it. This the first time I see a crime mob drama from Jackie Chan, and I have been waiting over a year to see this movie, and it is well worth the wait, probably the best movie that Jackie Chan has ever done and it involves very little of Jackie Chan’s usual Martial Arts. Many Chinese in the 90s immigrated to Japan for work, they were left to do menial work and ignored by main stream society. Jackie Chan or Steelhead started making the Chinese work together, and getting caught in the cross fires of a Yakuza war. Steelhead decides to work with certain heads of the Yakuza to help them in their war and it goes deeper then he thought possible. This movie was banned in the main land China because it was deemed too bloody but it seems to be a sensitive subject for the Chinese and Japanese. It is one of the best modern movie that I have seen come out of China or Japan, I pulled in by every moment of it.

Concours d’Elegance in Kuwait

This is one of the premiere car events around the world and it was taking place in Marina Cresent over this weekend. I saw the classic cars during the launch on Wednesday but I didn’t have a camera with me at the time, so I decided to take pictures of the machines on the other side. The variety of the machines was fantastic but I didn’t expect to see so many modern cars with them, but I was enjoying it, and across the parking lot were the beautiful muscle cars.

There was a beautiful original BMW M1 parked next to the fountain, now that was a car I wasn’t expecting to see and a few other beautiful machines. What surprised me was the presence of the Alpha Romeo RC8, which is basically all Ferrari with an Alpha Romeo body, I think it even had temporary plates on it. Marina Cresent was packed you couldn’t find a place to sit but we headed to PQ grab a bite to eat and enjoy the cars.

Gundam in Tokyo

The Japanese have honestly taken it to another level, I thought their Gundam was a stationary statue. I didn’t think it would be movable and they would play the music in the background. One way or another I have to get to Japan and see that robot in front of my eyes.

Nocturnal Gundam in Tokyo

Now they have taken it to another level, the RX-78 looks fantastic. I have never wanted to see an attraction so badly such as this. The colors of this light makes it look like its about to move. I also appreciate good photography shots, and these are amazing shots taken of the Gundam, it looks like it has been called into action and about to take off. are we at an age when robots like these will come into use?

Mater in Tokyo

I loved the movie cars, and Mater was the funny truck. Now this comes along I couldn’t help posting it up. I really do hope Pixar is coming out with another Cars movie. I still haven’t had a chance to see their latest movie but I hope to watch it soon when its available. But Mater is a drifter in Tokyo is genius!
