uTorrent Clients

uTorrent

Looking at different uTorrent Applications I have switched to Rutorrent & Deluge for the server I’m running my torrents from. Running a Seedbox is simple and fast without putting any effort on your home connection. You just push it to the Seedbox then download it from your ftp connection to your Seedbox. So I need a more stable software that can handle 10 to 200 GB files for all the different torrent files I download and at this point these two seem to be pretty good.

  • Deluge – Simple and solid, very stable, but missing a few
  • Transmission – Didn’t try it yet
  • Rutorrent – Like it very much and very flexible and stable

Movies For The Weekend

TheLastStand

If Schwarzenegger is in a movie I’m going to watch it, he doesn’t do too many and any fan of the 80s & 90s action films will enjoy this movie, I haven’t seen it yet but I know I will. There are a lot on the list to watch and enjoy, and The Grandmaster is a must for the Martial Arts Genre, then there is Iron Man Rise Of The Technoverse. Each movie will have their moment and this weekend I will enjoy them all.

  • 21 & Over
  • Jack Reacher
  • Superman Unbound
  • The Guilt Trip
  • Gangster Squad

A long weekend is coming up and you have to throw in a few movies while its here. These are the ones I have in hand at the moment, but then there are the ones that are in movies, but I wouldn’t watch a censored movie. Surprisingly the one I really want to see is Something From Nothing The Art Of Rap which is a very cool rap documentary, another documentary about the hacking that went on last year is We Are Legion, the rest of the movies are the usual entertaining ones for the long weekend.

  • The Amazing Spiderman
  • Madeas Witness Protection
  • Fast Girls
  • Safety Not Gauranteed
  • The Expendables 2
  • We Are Legion
  • Magic Mike
  • Madagascar 3 Europe’s Most Wanted
  • The Tall Man
  • Thats My Boy
  • Rock Of Ages
  • Prometheus
  • People Like Us
  • Men In Black 3
  • Arbitrage
  • Something From Nothing The Art Of Rap

VPN Service Providers Of Every Kind

VPN Services is simply a way to mask what you are doing online, sometimes its to get through ISP firewalls, or you want to cover your tracks. Sometimes you want to encrypt your BitTorrent traffic so the ISP doesn’t block it (KEMS), other times you want to get around government firewalls and use different services and visit certain sites. I for one use VPNs all the time so I can access US only services and register as if I am there, like Hulu Streaming and other media services.

I split them into two recommendations, ones specific to Torrent VPNs and the other just VPN service, but the Torrent VPNs are also good for VPN usage. VPNs do have an effect, they do slow down the connection just slightly but with some providers it slows down only 5% and with others it slows down 25%, for fast VPN connections I would go with StrongVPN but for BitTorrent specific VPNs I would go with BTGuard.

For BT VPNS:

Public Torrent Trackers

uTorrent

As of recently some of the trackers have been out of the public eye, then there are few which are blocked by MOC. I just use a VPN to access the blocked TorrentSites and the torrent downloads work without the VPN as it has nothing to do with the blocked website. These are the ones I get most of my media, all the different kinds.

Torrent Slow Down

I remember this tendency back in the day when I used to download a lot, my router would freeze up and I would need to restart. Now that the Buffalo is under pressure, anything that is connected to it remains connected, but nothing else can connect to the router via wired or wireless connection. I’m sustaining a constant download of 380 to 450 Kbps throughout the day, the ISP must hate me right now, this is going to last for at least another two weeks. I find it funny that the router can’t seem to handle this much consistent throughput.
