Microsoft XBox One

XBOXOne1

The new XBox One is here, Microsoft is referring to it as the new “Entertainment System”, people don’t realize that at the core of all this is gaming, we want to play games as well as have other features, gaming is the main feature, everything else is secondary. So Microsoft has to do a lot to live up to, but one thing I like is XBox Live and your Gold Account is going to carry over to the XBox One which is great, the functionality of XBox One is going to be the same with a mix of XBox 360 & Windows 8 so if your familiar with them you will be fine. They are trying to introduce more functionality with TV, Skype, and Internet Explorer, its ok but not key for me. I want to see if they will be releasing another Halo, now that would be Epic, even though I haven’t finished Halo 4 yet, I still have the rest of 2013 to do that. One surprise for me is that they have finally introduced a slot-loading BluRay player, I still buy BluRays but only of movies that I love, so I’m not sure how many people have BluRays when they have the option of streaming, still its a good option.

XBOXOne2

As far as installation, when you first insert a disc into the Xbox One, it’ll install the game to the hard drive — you won’t have to use the disc again. As for internet connectivity they haven’t given a clear picture, so I’m not sure if it has to have internet connectivity to keep playing the games, that wouldn’t be a wise decision if you have to have constant internet connectivity. I like the idea that you load the disc once and then you don’t have to use it to play the game. The controller is an update that I really like, they put a lot of thought into it and everyone keeps saying how great it is, so that is something I want to try. They new Kenict is a bit like the CIA’s dream it can hear and see you while the console is off, you can use gestures and voice commands to switch the XBox One on and go through its menus.

XBOXOne3

Annoyances:

  • TV Features – Useless to anyone outside the US, and its not a settop box, I want a gaming machine
  • Again not backwards compatible – I only have about 20 Games that I cherish, so what to do with them now?
  • No Used Games, So I don’t know how thats going to work for rental companies now! Sometimes I want to try a game but don’t want to buy it, so whats the solution?
  • New Kenict which is watching you all the time, not a feature I like, will probably point the Kinect to the TV, don’t like being watched!
  • Gamers will have to connect the console regularly, possibly at least once a day, and game discs will be restricted to your Xbox profile if you use them on a second console

XBOXOne4

Both consoles promise to track your motions, power on instantly, and seamlessly update themselves in the background, among many other common features. Lets see how that works out, how many people have power up their XBox 360 or Playstation after a month of not touching to play a new game and end up having to perform a systems update for an hour or more so that you can play that new game. Honestly what I loved about the XBox was XBox Live, I could always play with friends across the globe, this time around I don’t know what they have planned.

Overall I’m honestly excited about the new console but they have to clarify a few points about the 2nd hand market and online connectivity. I’m the graphics will be phenomenal, and I want to see what games they have lined up, not sure what they are going to price it at, but I’m hoping it won’t pass the $400 mark.

Games Of 2012

The list is long, and it could be longer, these are the games that look so good and I have no time to play them. These are just the ones on XBox 360 & PS3 not including whats coming out on PC. Right now at the top of my list is Diablo III and the expansion for StarCraft but other normal games are below and they look pretty good.

  • Devil May Cry
  • Prey 2
  • Mass Effect 3
  • Overstrike
  • Halo 4
  • Starhawk
  • Borderlands 2
  • Grand Theft Auto 5

Gears of War Edition XBox 360

GoWXbox3601_01

Gears of War 3 is coming out very soon and I can’t wait to play it, this is a special edition XBox 360 that will be available in September. With the 320 GB Hard Drive and Two Controllers as well as Gears of War 3 Game. If I didn’t already have an XBox 360 I would honestly get it, even though the new XBox 360 or what ever iteration of the console is coming out at the end of 2012.

Halo Reach Stats

HaloReachStats2

Now this is one the best games of 2010, probably the best game period. I feel bad because I haven’t given it the time it requires . I played for a while in the states but not enough since I got back, I’m saddened that I didn’t add to these stats but I will be adding to them soon.

Halo – Reach – Trailer & More

This game is going to be a lot of the original Halo and something new to the game play. Now seeing the video trailer made me jump, there is going to be a SPACESHIP! I just can’t believe there is going to be a spaceship, thats going to be cool. Combat in outer space in the form of dog fighting it going to be another level of fun and madness. I just can’t wait for the game in September, they have really worked nonstop to perfect the game and from all the write ups and beta game reviews it looks like its going to be that way for sure. Watching the trailer below will get your blood pumping, it just can’t get any better.

Halo Reach – Kuwaitis Kick @$$

I have been waiting for Halo Reach for a while now, every iteration of Halo just keeps getting better. With this they overhauled the whole gaming system, taking it to another level so that people can enjoy the game even more. Now this montage by a group of 5 Kuwaiti gamers playing the Beta version of Halo gets my blood pumping, I so would want to join them in their rampage and killing sprees! The guy with the warhammer is pretty damn good, he is killing people left right and center. My favorite is the rocket launcher, I just love that weapon, but I want to have a little more ammo. There are new techniques to keep in mind when fighting because sneaking up on people is now completely different then before and it looks damn good. It was fun watching these teams battle it out in the team tournament, and at the end the blue team won.

Halo ODST – Done

I pre-ordered Halo ODST over a month ago, and it was well worth the wait. I didn’t know what to expect and I didn’t want to read anything that was written up about it, this is the only game that I finished since Halo 3, and I didn’t even manage to finish Halo Wars even though I want to. Incidentally I was playing KillZone 2 on PS3 to try it out and to hear what all the fuss was about but it doesn’t even compare to the Halo Series. after about 18 hours of intense gaming co-op campaign sessions on Halo ODST we surprisingly reached the end, I was really enjoying playing campaign mode on Halo ODST, it was better then Halo 2 and Halo 3.

What’s different about Halo ODST is that you have a sort of Night Vision system which works great in the dark and your fighting monsters that you can really kill, not those sludgy creatures that get annoying, even if they are tough they die after some bullets. The game feels more refined and its nice that there is a really well made story line attached to the original Halo. I just hope that Bungie keeps on making Halo games with different stories and hopefully move forward with it, its once of the few games that I have ever kept on repeating.

Now for the stats, I have done decently well but fallen far from those who are living online and killing non-stop and refining their skills. In Halo 3 I get anniahlated pretty quickly, except if I have rocket launcher so thats a different story. Halo ODST doesn’t have direct multiplayer but it has Firefights, which are swarms of killing those monsters again again, wave after wave of monsters getting tougher every time and you only have so many lives, weapons, and health packs. That is turning out to be very interesting and I’m thoroughly enjoying it, but I need to get some practice, you can have it co-op with two players and you can have more players in the firefight if your friends join you from X-Box Live, but I am still getting used to it.

Overall Bungie have made an amazing game, there was just so much that was done, but I was hoping for more so this time around I’m going to play on a harder setting. They have done such a great job with other iterations of Halo that we expect and want so much, and I was hoping for the multiplayer to be upgraded with some of the game play from the campaign which gives you night vision at night, enabling you to really shoot better. If you haven’t played it then you are missing out.

Halo Anime – 5 Mins Of It

I think they went down the right road to turn Halo into an Anime, to tie up the rich storylines together between all that the Sergeant has gone through. This is a five minute clip of the anime and I’m happy to see that they are doing it justice, and the Spartan is shown as the bad ass that he is, can’t wait for the whole anime to start coming out. Even the noises of the little grunts getting killed sounds the same, I’m planning to watch it in Japanese with Subtitles rather then with English dialogue.
