The Model United Nations at the American University of Kuwait

I remember MUN from highschool and from college, and I remember clearly that I was not qualified for any MUN activities, I would have probably caused a war or a fight to break out with the ideas I had, I wasn’t the best of academics at those times. I did appreciate the dedication and seriousness these students had for their work because some of these resolutions do have a real life affect on the UN which passes these regulations. Now AUK is holding this conference and I think it would be interesting to see what ideas they may have, I hope that that all their resolutions pass.

A guy who is just trying to enjoy life!

  1. nice .. its about time, me thinks.

I’ve taken part in 2 MUNs before – security council and come ILO/economic gig. Its OKay-ish during the day .. a bit dorky and some people take it way too seriously.

But as an abroad student back then, i was really in it for the SWAG/Freebies, the free food and the parties, and we were always on the lookout for the international delegates from Europe – MUNs had the best sponsors, which mean great parties and loads of free food ;)

I’m a Kuwaiti student currently living in Colombia. During my years here, I have so far participated in 6 MUN’s. Honestly, MUN has completely changed me and my aspect towards the world. It makes you open your eyes and actually see what’s really going on, all the conflicts throughout the world, all the slavery, piracy, wars, children holding guns instead of pencils and books and toys. It makes us youth of the world, open our eyes in order for us to then make a change. Because seriously, the world needs us, if we don’t heal it, who will? no one is the answer. We have to stand up for all of those who can’t, help them and stop being greedy. Many of us are not aware, that millions of kids and people die every year from hunger. We are not aware, that in the other side of the world, when a child asks his mom: “mom, i’m hungry, what’s for dinner tonight?” the mother simply replies: I’m sorry son, we’ve got nothing to eat, we’ll just have to wait until tomorrow.

Sad but true, I have many more to say. Inshallah when I go to Kuwait this year I’ll participate in your MUN and make everyone see how sick the world is and how much it needs us.
