7 Foot Tall Gundam – RX-178 Gundam Mk-II

Those this redfines cool, doesn’t everyone want a robot of their own, well Lesko decided that he wanted one and put 6-9 months of hard work putting together is Gundam MK-II. It seriously is an exact replica of the model, and this guy knows how to design his paper. That is one amazing Gundam, wouldn’t mind having it follow me around while I’m outside or flying next to me while I’m riding my bike.

Review: Modile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie – Awakening Of The Trailblazer

Plot Summary: It is the year A.D. 2314. Two years have passed since the defeat of the ruthless A-LAWs, and the new Earth Sphere Federation government has sought for peace by establishing a weapon-free world. However, a long forgotten ship that was sent to Jupiter 130 years ago somehow returns to Earth, seemingly with no signs of life onboard, but actually bringing with it a dangerous new alien threat—the Extraterrestrial Living-metal Shapeshifters (ELS), who have started assimilating Earth’s technology and inhabitants. Now, with humanity at risk of total destruction, the Celestial Being makes its return to defend against the invasion of the ELS.

Its been a while since I have seen the Gundam 00 series and I can remember that it was an epic series, and this movie was something to look forward. It takes place a few years after Celestial Being have done their work and earth has moved forward with their tools of peace. Setsuna and his team are back but there was a new threat and they have to find away to win. Its an epic ending to a great series, it answers a lot of questions from the original series, and you will love the big battle at the end. I can never get enough of Gundams and I was hoping that this series would continue at some point but this movie you have a satisfying ending.

Gundams @ Bou Saleh

The other day guy I got a text from the guy working at Bou Saleh’s Anime Shop in Muthana that they got a new shipment of items to check out. So I decided to go check it out on the dusty day since I haven’t picked up a model in sometime, and they had a nice selection to see. Whenever I walk in there I feel like a kid in a candy store, I want a room like that with all the models.

After taking a look around I picked up a couple of Gundam Models, the Gundam Unicorn is brand new but the Shin Musha Gundam has been around for at least a year now. Both are really unique machines, one is based on the new anime and other one is based on a battle samurai. Being Master Grade means it will take a lot of work to put these guys together, usually I try to stick to ready made ones but they were really cool and so I picked them both up. I know that I probably won’t have the time these days to put the models together but I will some time in the summer and they will be cool looking for sure. But I have no place what so ever to put them but that isn’t a factor when I get them.

Picked Up:

  • Shin Musha Gundam – Master Grade 47 KD
  • Gundam Unicorn – Updated – Master Grade 50 KD

Gundam Astray – Red Frame

I have gotten more and more involved with the models over the past year, I recently got my hands on a Gundam Astray which isn’t easy to find since its very much in demand. I have never built such a complex model before, the most complex build of any type were my Tamiya cars or Lego Technic, but this one was easily over 500 pieces. Its a Perfect Grade class Gundam meaning a full articulate body with every movable joint possible including the fingers to make fists or open palms.

When I first started this a while back I chose a location with the least amount of people to see it spread out all over the floor. The instructions were in Japanese but my hat goes off to them for giving excellent instructions on how to build it, luckily I had the right type of scissors to cut the plastic to make for a perfect fit, and I had my Leatherman Skeletool to intervene when needed. This took over 6 days to put together and careful planning, there were a few screw ups along the way but I managed to back track my mistakes and fix it. I am very happy with this very large model which stands clear at 33 centimeters high from head to toe. I think I am addicted to having these models and building them to perfection, I have a few more models that I have bought but kept aside to build later but non as complex as this, but there are a few Perfect Grade Gundams that I am bidding for on Ebay and crossing my fingers. I just can’t seem to get enough, I’m running out of shelving at this rate, and he is standing on my Sonos unit.

Gundam in Tokyo

The Japanese have honestly taken it to another level, I thought their Gundam was a stationary statue. I didn’t think it would be movable and they would play the music in the background. One way or another I have to get to Japan and see that robot in front of my eyes.

Gundam Fix Metal Composite MSZ-006A1/C! Z plus[Blue]

The Red Gundam Fix Metal Composite was the first Gundam I put together, then there was the Blue one which remained in the box for a couple of weeks since I didn’t have enough time to get around to it or the right place to place it. These models or objects of art need right placement before being put together, I honestly don’t want to work on one unless I have the right spot for it and after looking around my room I found the right spot.

I decided to place the Blue Gundam on top of my desk shelving wear Bumble Bee was previously. This specific Gundam comes in multiple configurations, two robot mode, in regular form which I built the first one or the armored mode which is down right scary. Then there is the plane mode which also has a normal and armored mode. I decided to go with the semi-normal plane mode because it looked really cool in the box.

Now I just need two more of these models to build the other variations of it and I have to say that I would never be satisfied. I need some shelving to present these works of art, I am just happy looking at them wondering how ingenious the Japanese are in their creative ideas and how soon will we have life size robots such as these. I want to thank my very thoughtful friend who bought this for me as a gift.

Nocturnal Gundam in Tokyo

Now they have taken it to another level, the RX-78 looks fantastic. I have never wanted to see an attraction so badly such as this. The colors of this light makes it look like its about to move. I also appreciate good photography shots, and these are amazing shots taken of the Gundam, it looks like it has been called into action and about to take off. are we at an age when robots like these will come into use?

Gundam Fix Metal Composite MSZ-006A1/C! Z plus[Red]

A metal Gundam figure is rare to find, luckily for me I have received two as a gift from a friend. One is blue and the other is red, they came in pretty big boxes. I started with the red one since I have been watching the last Gundam series and it got me worked up. It turns out this figure can have about four different variations, two are robots and two are planes, and it gets pretty complicated.

I unpacked the boxes, kept everything its place but spread around me on the floor. The instructions are in Japanese but its pretty clear from the pictures, but sometimes I had a hard time trying to figure out how exactly they stayed in place. I didn’t go for the plane version of the Gundam I’m thinking of doing that for the other one, with the Robot version you have a lot of options. The bigger robot version looks damn cool but the normal version looks great as well, so I went halfway and beefed up the normal version a bit. Didn’t take too long, one hour and a bit of sitting on the floor and tinkering with it and all the different pieces and I have my Gundam put together.

Now to find a place for it, after searching around I decided to put it in the location of the evil Mazinger and move that next to my other Mazinger Z figures. Right now its sitting next to my Sonos Speaker and looks pretty good. I really have to reorganize the items I have in my room, too many things piled up.
