Lucy – 2014

A woman, accidentally caught in a dark deal, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

The concept of human brain develpment turned into a movie has been done a few times, but with the voice of Morgan Freeman and the acting and action capabilities of Scarlett Johansson it is bound to be a potent formula. It’s a movie that pulls you in and your on one hell of thrill ride as Scarlett Johansson turns from a ditzy club goer to a merciless warrior with super human capabilities. The action scenes are great and she kicks ass in them, and then there is her cold demeanor which she pulls off effortlessly. Loved the pace of the movie and the story, but then it just gets a little too weird and science-eee at the end. The conclusion should have been a bit less time travel and more ridiculous action, still a fun movie to watch.

Redemption – Trailer

Homeless and on the run from a military court martial, a damaged ex-special forces soldier navigating London’s criminal underworld seizes an opportunity to assume another man’s identity — transforming into an avenging angel in the process.

I never get tired form the Jason Stathom movies, and this one seems to be a bit deeper then most. But I do love that they keep the action going and then he is back to beating the bad guys up. Seems like an interesting story, I do like London criminal movies.

Review: Raid – The Redemption

A SWAT team becomes trapped in a tenement run by a ruthless mobster and his army of killers and thugs.

This movie just couldn’t get any better, for the first part of the movie I couldn’t figure out what language it was at first I thought it was Thai but still it was a bit different. The movie starts off intensely, a group of Elite cops planning to take down a Drug King Pin, except they were a little over their heads. Things start off pretty good but when one thing goes wrong its a domino effect, and the fighting is intense, and nonstop, I literally mean nonstop, these guys just didn’t stop, an endless supply of bad guys. If you are a looking for an action packed martial arts movie then this is it, it delivered on everything that was promised. Loved it. Turns out its an Indonesian movie, no wonder I couldn’t figure out the language.

Review: Shaolin

China is plunged into strife as feuding warlords try to expand their power by warring over neighboring lands. Fuelled by his success on the battlefield, young and arrogant Hao Jie sneers at Shaolin’s masters after killing a rival warlord on their temple grounds. But the glory comes before a fall. His own family is wiped out in an unexpected turn of events and Hao is forced to take refuge with the monks. As the civil unrest spreads and the people suffer, Hao and the Shaolin masters are forced to take a fiery stand against the evil warlords. They launch a daring plan of rescue and escape.

This was one movie I was really looking forward to, any movie with Shaolin monks performing martial arts always interests me. But this case it was about a war lord who lost everything and joined the monastary he was first torturing and in that monastery Jackie Chan is an odd cook. At frirst I thought it would be a bit more comedic or exciting but still it was a very deep movie about a man who was an evil warlord and joins the monks only to fight the evil warlords. It gets interesting and you get caught up with it but I wanted more out of it.

Matrix – Everything Is A Remix – Must Watch

Man I loved the Matrix and still do, it was a revolutionary movie when it came out and I still think so to this day. If you have any inclinations to martial arts then you will love this video, wouldn’t we all want the every type of martial arts downloaded to our cerebral cortex. This video of the Matrix fight scenes is compared with all the great Asian Martial Arts movies from Drunk Master all the way to Ghost In The Shell. What do you think about the Wachowski’s for using these techniques for their film? I think it doesn’t detract from the movie.

Review: The Warriors Way

The world’s greatest swordsman abandons his warrior clan to start a new life in the American Badlands in THE WARRIOR’S WAY, a visually dazzling modern martial arts adventure with stunningly choreographed fight sequences and gravity-defying stunts.

Ninjas and Cowboys in the same movie will always be an entertaining movie, don’t expect this movie to win any awards but it does entertain. A ninja who leaves his clan and moves to America to protect a baby his clan have sworn to kill, and lucky for the baby that he is the best assasin as protection. I love the martial mix of the movie and the ninjas flying everywhere, and then there is the bad cowboy ransacking the town, turning the end of it into one huge fight between ninjas and cowboys.
