Nokia 625 – Not What I Was Expecting

I was hoping for a light phone with a great screen & Camera that has 4G, even though the camera was a little less then the 8X. Well it turned out to be more then a disappointment then anything else, this phone has a beautiful screen but every other component is cheap and horrible, cheap price doesn’t necessarily mean cheap quality but in this case it does.

Cons:

  • Crappy 5MP Camera, I’m really bad
  • Speaker – You can barely hear it and there is this metal grinding sound when it goes to high volumes
  • Heavier then a better specified phone
  • No real change for the Windows 8 software
  • No real added value for Nokia
  • Battery doesn’t last as long as the HTC 8X

Pros:

  • Beautiful Screen
  • 4G/LTE Speeds are good on the phone
  • Cheap Price

Nokia625D

I really want to stay on the Windows Platform, I’m enjoying more integration with my Windows 8 laptop to a degree and I want it to get better, but if you are looking for a cheap Windows phone to try out the software then this will do, don’t expect much for the camera and speaker. I will still keep the Windows phone, but I will probably trade this one in for something better at a later stage. My only problem with the option coming out from Nokia are the either bulky or too big.

There are two option from Nokia as a replacement, the Nokia 1020 which has the perfect combination except for the ridiculous camera popping out of the back with 41 MP which is just overkill. Then the Nokia 1520 has a 6″ screen which is just overkill with a 20 MP which is more then enough, but at the end both of these phones are just too big. Both of these phones won’t fit in a normal cup holder in a car and even worse when I place it in my pocket.

The New Windows Phone Line Up

Nokia is coming out strong with their new Lumia line up and thanks to Jacqui for bringing to light the details of the Lumia 625. I have the HTC 8X which I think its fantastic and it lasts over 24 hours which is odd for a new phone, and whats great about it is that it has never hanged and is something that can’t be said of either the iPhone or Android. The Windows Phone hasn’t had an update since WP 8 and it doesn’t look like any updates are coming along any time soon only the hardware. I don’t have a major issue with Windows Phones, the status updates need to updated as it currently sucks but everything else is pretty good. The new hardware brings 4G into the mix, the 625 looks great except for the camera, and the 1020 has a ridiculously large camera which makes the phone slightly oversized, and the 1520 is too huge. I want a 4G Windows Phone which is light, and a great camera which would be the perfect Windows Phone, but Nokia’s new line up looks impressive.

SMS & BBMs – Some Decency

This has been a topic on my mind for some time now, it has been the same with emails and everything else. I don’t forward texts, BBMs, or Emails, I know most of the time it annoys people and sometimes they messages contain malicious code which can damage your PC or phone. With the use of BBM people are broadcasting a lot of events and other things happening which is great there is a limit to it. I think people should exercise some common decency when forwarding certain messages out.

The case being with deceased relatives, what I have seen recently is no common decency in the matter. When people broadcast bbms or send out mass text messages about someone who has recently been deceased within hours or even the same day. A lot of the times the immediate relatives from cousins to brothers and sisters and even parents don’t know about it and get shocked from these messages and its devastating. Sometimes its hard giving someone the bad news that their son or daughter or mother or father has passed away, there is never a way to handle it. But getting it via mass message isn’t the way, and people should refrain from forwarding that type of message. This has gotten on my nerves quite a few times but recently it was a disaster, when a family member is abroad and they find out from their daughter’s friend’s mass bbm that smoeone close passed away, its shocking to say the least.

After some thorough searching we got our hands on an E71, there is a lot of demand for it in the market. Selling from 155 KD to 165 KD, and since there is a high demand there is a mark up so its around 170 KD to 190 KD depending on the shop you go to and availability. I have had a chance for a while now to try out different headsets over the years, and I thought I would just post up my basic thoughts on these headsets, not a real thorough review but at least to stay away from a few headsets out there.

Good sound quality, but doesn’t hold onto the ear when walking around, short battery life.

I’m always on the lookout for a good usable phone, and over the past few years I have switched from being a Nokia User to a Sony Ericsson user. And let those Apple Phone users get lost with their iPhones, I will be enjoying this phone. Sony Ericsson went all out with this phone, and I really do like how it is the finish of this phone. Every once in a while they come out with a very nice set of phones, and this one is leading the pack, its supposed to be priced around the same as the K850 when it first came out. I’m not usually into sliding phones, but this one seems to fit the bill.
