Review: Macross Frontier...

Plot Summary: Macross Frontier marks the 25th anniversary of the Macross anime franchise. It is a direct sequel to the first Macross series and Macross 7 and follows the lives of Alto Saotome, Ranka Lee and a pop idol named Sheryl Nome on board the Macross Frontier colonization fleet. After the war against the Zentradi aliens, Humankind has spread across the universe in order to ensure its survival. The Macross Frontier fleet is part of a effort to spread and maintain the culture of humanity.

I have been a fan of Macross since I was a kid, seeing planes that transformed into Robots was the coolest thing and I followed all anime which were an offshoot from the original. Luckily this picked up the story where the other one ended and developed it even further, the humans were working with the Zentradi and new life is ahead of them but they face a new menace unknown to them. First off the animation in Macross Frontier is fantastic, just the perfection combination of 2-D & 3-D making it look amazing, the fight scenes fantastic, and just as the original a lot depended on the music and they did an amazing job with that. This anime is at the top and one of the best since the original was released, a must watch for all anime fans and even if you aren’t you will enjoy it.

Review: Superman/Batman: Public Enemies...

Lex Luthor is elected as President of the United States, enlists many super powered Heroes to work for the Government. Superman & Batman are some of the few left who doubt him and will not join, Lex manages to turn the world against Superman. Mean while the Earth is on the verge of being destroyed by giant Kryptonite asteroid and Lex doesn’t want the help of the super heroes. A good storyline played out by Batman and Superman, the animation quality is really good but it could have been a little better. The best part was the involvement of so many DC Comic Characters with Superman, I would have enjoyed a little longer story with a little better animation but the movie was still fun to watch and enjoyable for any fan of Superman or Batman.

New Fist Of The North Star – Game...

HokutoNoKen1

Now this is something to look forward to, the creaters of Samurai Warroirs, and Koei the developers of Dynasty Warriors are bring one of the bloodiest and most entertaining animes to a console near you. The description below is just enough to bring back memories of this shocking anime, with guts bursting everywhere, blood smears at every corner in this apocalyptic world. Even though this is an early announcement I do hope to get my hands on it and play out the characters they have lined up, the special moves are going to be cool and gory.

HokutoNoKen2

According to official word, gamers will “unleash a myriad of devastating fighting techniques and finishing moves powerful enough to bring down whole buildings,” cause enemies to “violently explode on screen” and trigger “the instantaneous breakdown of internal organs.”

Tachikoma – Ghost in the Shell: S....

One of the few models that have taken time to track down, Tachikoma is a special robot from Ghost in the Shell with an autonomous intelligence loyal to the team. The funny part is that they love a certain kind of oil, its like candy to them and they are like a bunch of kids in a room and when let out they have lots of fun. They are strong as tank and tactile with some weaponry to match. I always found them to be interesting characters, and I always like them and since I’m a fan of Batou from Ghost in the Shell they seem to view him as the favorite of the team.

This model is from Fewture, they make some very interesting models and this is one of them. A diecast large size Tachikoma which is very movable and has an excellent finish. The red lights are kind of cool as well, but I’m really happy that I managed to find this model while looking for some Mazinkizer models and I think it looks really cool. I’m running out of space to place these really cool models but I hope to find a solution, I have even kept some in the box in the back of the closet. I was hoping to find a good one of Major Kusanagi and Batou but that will take some searching to find.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann – Final...

I ordered this model from Ebay through a Japanese Shop, and the images looked larger then life and it looked solid. I wasn’t exactly sure of what I was getting, but it was even better then I expected. Full resin pieces, they were heavy pieces too, nice and solid, and they were painted perfectly with an amazing glow. There was more padding in this box then I have ever seen but it still got some damage on the way here.

Some pieces fit together with metal rods and some needs some superglue and luckily I recently bought some UHU superglue. When I started putting things together I forgot how sticky superglue was and how to handle it so I don’t get it all over me. Later on in the day both my thumbs, my left index and middle fingers were all smeared in super glue and slightly stuck together, I really felt like I was kid doing this for the first time again. The solution was either acetone or nail polish and I had neither, so I had to settle for hot water and soap, with some harsh scrubbing to get it started and then I left what was on to come off later in the day. I had to slowly glue those pieces together and make sure they stick, and it doesn’t stick instantly, takes about 5 to 10 mins and then I move to the next pieces. After about an hour and half I have the perfect Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Model.

Review: Hajime No Ippo – New Chall...

Plot Summary: Ippo Makunouchi continues his boxing career and his goal on knowing the meaning of being strong, and the desire on fighting his idol Ichiro Miyata once again. Along him are pro boxers Takamura, Aoki and Kimura that each one of them aspire to their own dreams.

I watched the original Hajime No Ippo and it was one of those great animes from back in the day so I didn’t expect any less from the new anime series, but I was wrong. This new one blew it out of the water, I haven’t seen a well written anime like this in a long time. The characters were hilarious, you get caught up with the story, the style of anime fits it so perfectly, the episodes are short and sweet. I had to watch the episodes in bunches with a few late nights because I just had to continue the fight. There were parts when I was laughing so hard, and you get emotional with the characters, you know its an excellent anime when you really get caught up with it.

Tetsujin...

The Japanese have went and done it again, they have built one very heavy, to be exact 50 ton, robot in Japan for the crowd. And this is Tetsujin 28 from the old anime series that many of us saw a long time ago, who didn’t want to be a kid with remote control that would control a Giant Robot. I think its great that they would take $1.5 Million to be build something so great such as this 50 ton statue.

Review: Kaze No Stigma...

Plot Summary:
Ayano is the heir to the house of Kannagi, a house with ties to the spirit of fire, whose members are all fire users. All except for her cousin, Kazuma. After he was defeated by Ayano, his father banished him from the house in disgrace. Kazuma ran off and changed his surname to Yagami. He formed a contract with the spirit of wind and becomes a powerful wind user. Four years later, he returned.Four years ago, Kazuma Kannagi was defeated by his cousin Ayano Kannagi for the right to be the successor of Enraiha, a sword passed down in the Kannagi family. His defeat, along with his lack of talent for En-Jutsu, the fire arts, the Kannagis’ specialty, resulted in his banishment from the family. Now, Kazuma returns as Kazuma Yagami, a skilled master of FÅ«-Jutsu, the wind arts.

I had high expectations for this anime, it just felt like the right combination of a story with magic and had ways to go in front of it. I always like these unpredictable characters, and Ayano was that character, and Kazuma had that hidden strength that I wanted to see but alas it wasn’t I got. The story line was a little shallow when I expected more and it wasn’t the development I was hoping for, a fun anime to watch and easy but there are a lot better anime’s out there.

Iron Man – Kotobukiya Statue...

Every once in a while you find the right piece that you really don’t expect, and this came out of no where. I received the Kotobukiay Iron Man Statue for my birthday a few months back and I have had the hardest time trying to figure out where to put this amazing statue, I can’t get enough of it but I didn’t want to ruin it. I kept on trying to figure out the perfect location for it, and simply I found the perfect spot in my home theater area.

I placed Iron Man on the left front speaker, and I didn’t know until I unboxed him that there are is a switch to see the lights of the eyes and the chest plate. Its such a cool statue, I keep thinking if only I had the real life suit that this would be cooler. Its a perfect 13 inches, with a few bumps and bruises to resemble the real suit and the quality of the Kotobukiya statue is honestly amazing, every time a friend walks in I ask them what they think, the usual reaction is that its cool but when I switch on the light of the suit, there eyes pop out. I am one happy movie goer, now to only work on the getting a fully functional suit.

Halo Anime – 5 Mins Of It...

I think they went down the right road to turn Halo into an Anime, to tie up the rich storylines together between all that the Sergeant has gone through. This is a five minute clip of the anime and I’m happy to see that they are doing it justice, and the Spartan is shown as the bad ass that he is, can’t wait for the whole anime to start coming out. Even the noises of the little grunts getting killed sounds the same, I’m planning to watch it in Japanese with Subtitles rather then with English dialogue.
