I always make sure that I have a healthy selection to choose from when I’m downloading anime. So that if there is one day where I can spend the whole day just watching anime I can and I would still have enouogh to fill up a weeks time. At this point I think I got enough for at least a few weeks.

Review: The Law of Ueki...

ueki.jpg

Plot Summary: Kousuke Ueki, a student of the Hinokuni Junior High School, is picked by a God Candidate, Koba-sen, to participate in a competition where people battle out to become God and only the strongest will prevail. Embodied with the ability to turn garbage into trees, Kousuke will be joining in the battle against other junior high school students in this selection. This sets the premise for the earth-friendly battle where the students will pit their powers against the rest.

I got really caught up with this anime since Ueki is the type of character who seems to have no care in the world, he didn’t want to participate in this whole thing in the first place. Until people he cared about were getting put in danger and he realized he has the power to save them. You get with Ueki and his friends, and how Ueki seems to find a solution in these impossible situations. Its a really good anime, with a great storyline and very enjoyable

Review: Tenjou Tenge...

Tenjou_Tenge.gif

Plot Summary: Souchirou Nagi and Bob Makihara are two delinquents who arrive at Toudou Academy with the objective of ruling over the school with their strength. But on their first day, they encountered the Jyuukenbu, a martial arts group of the school. Members of the group, Maya Natsume, her sister Aya, and Masataka Takayanagi easily overpowered Souchirou and Bob. And what’s more, due to what was assumed to be their “connections” with the Jyuukenbu, the two were attacked by members of the Enforcement Group, which oversees the martial arts groups of the school. Drawn into the personal conflicts between the Jyuukenbu and the Enforcement Group, Souchirou and Bob have no choice but to join up with Maya Natsume’s group and to hone their skills to become even stronger.

This is an extremely entertaining anime if your looking for the combat style anime. This will satisfy your tastes since Souchirou just goes in head first to fighting thinking he is the bad ass of the town until he realizes otherwise. Souchirou has to fight the main guy from the enforcement group and Aya turns out to have “other” fighting characteristics which just makes things really interesting. Overall the combat is really good and story behind the characters and trying to unravel the past relationships makes for one interesting anime, and the quality of the anime is superb.

Watching Anime...

bleach-calendar.jpg

This past week I haven’t had much time to do all I wanted to do, especially ride but at least I got to watch some anime and really enjoy that. I have found some of my friends who are getting addicted to anime and they are expressing how they feel when watching it and getting caught up with it. So I told them they shouldn’t have blamed me for loving it from day one.

Here is what I have watched this past week:

  • Bleach
  • Fafner
  • Shadow Skill
  • Naruto
  • Guyver TV

I like watching new anime, but its annoying when watching it and not having the continuing episodes! I go nuts trying to figure out whats going to happen next so lately I have been piling up with anime.

Review: Samurai Champloo...

samurai_champloo_001sm.jpg

Plot Summary: Mugen is a fierce animal-like warrior with a unique Bboying (break-dance) inspired fighting style. Jin has a more traditional style but don’t think of this as a weakness because his skills are amazing. The two contrasting samurai warriors are far from friends, yet their separate paths seem to cross anyways. Mugen is wandering aimlessly through the city when he stumbles upon a teahouse where he meets Jin and Fuu (A ditzy waitress, but don‘t think she doesn‘t have anything hidden up her sleeves). Fuu convinces them both to come with her in search of a mysterious samurai that smells like sunflowers and their journey begins. This modernized hip-hop tale breaks the barriers of the common, historical, samurai anime.

Samurai Champoo is one of the best animes I have seen in a while, the animation itself is different and the fusion of different styles is fantastic. The Japanese era mixed in with some HipHop style and presented in a fantastic manner. Three companions are tied together by this journey and each of one them is completely different from the other. Mugen is wild one, Jin is the cool headed samurai, and Fuu is the girl stuck between the two trying to find her father. It really is a great samurai tale which is extremely enjoyable. In my opinion its a revolutionary anime since they approached the story completely differently then see before, and I loved the beats in the series. You never get bored of the story because its anything but conventional and its extremely entertaining. That is why its one of my top ten animes.

Review: Jinki Extended...

jinki_extend_1_2.jpg

Plot Summary: Aoba is a young girl who loves to build models of robots. She lived alone with her grandmother until her grandmother passes away. Shortly after she is kidnapped and brought to a secret base where she discovers a huge robot. The piloted robots fight against Ancient-Jinki in The Grand Savanna, but the true meaning behind the fights is hidden. Aoba works hard at the base so one day she can pilot one of the robots and discover these secrets.

Mecha anime sometimes follow a usual theme, and its very entertaining watching the use of powerful mechs. But this anime takes a completely different angle, and its all about the pilots and the lives that revolves around them. This anime does a little jumping between lives and you move from the main characters to other characters who become the main characters as its phasing through. Between Aoba and Akanao the story shifts and then it unites them in the end, at the end all the pieces come together like a good story should, and I really like that. Towards the end its about the team, and what each and everyone of them is fighting are fighting for, two sides to the same coin. I really enjoyed this short and sweet anime, it was only 12 episodes.

Review: Ikkitousen...

ikkitousen.jpg

Plot Summary: Seven schools are constantly ‘at war’ with each other, and the students within – both male and female – have become skilled fighters and constantly battle with rival schools. Their lives and fates are guided by strange jewels that contain the spirits and destinies of warriors from the Sangokushi period. One girl, Sonsaku Hakufu, has recently moved to Japan and is apparently destined to unite the schools as her counterpart united seven countries long ago. But, like all heroes, there is a darker side to her fate, and as always there is a constant struggle by those around her to break the chains of their own destinies and make their own lives.

At first I wasnt sure how this anime was going to be and I do like the type of fighting and this probably has an interesting story line. It seems that these highschool student’s lives are predetermined by the “Magatama” or soulstones that they carry and which schools they are affiliated with. Its an interesting story line that every student in these schools is a certain type of fighter, and the clumsy Hakufu is the supposed to be King of these fighters and she will rule over her domain. This fighting anime is filled with comedy, nudity, and a lot of action. Its funny how when fighting these girls strategically keep ripping articles of clothing while fighting for their honor. Overall this anime is pretty funny with all the comedy going through it but its for a mature audience and they do a lot fanfare to the semi-nude scenes, but that aside the fighting is pretty good and the action is entertaining.

Review: Gravion Zwei...

gravion.jpg

Plot Summary: After Gravion was able to use its ultimate attack, the Zeravire threat seemed to have temporary stopped. However when it rises back up all of a sudden, the Earth Gult and its trump card, the super robot Gravion, is needed to defend this world again. All this while, the EFA is planning to create their own weapons to counter the Zeravire, the Grand Trooper. Now as they attempt to fend off the Zeravire, the people of the Earth Gult and EFA must protect their future as well as confront their pasts, and unveil the mysteries of the Zeravire.

This is the following anime to the Original Gravion which I thought was pretty good, but this follow up in my opinion was better then the original. The story line got a little bit more serious and some questions were being answered. And they developed the new G-Soldiers based on some of the technology of Gravion for the Earth Forces, but it is still not even close to Gravion. The Gravion team were getting hit hard, and they lost a team member so Toga was having a hard time handling that. Eiji isnt completely the certain part of the story this time, but there is more chunk to the story then it was before. And it was great that a lot of the questions were being answered and a lot of the secrets were being revealed. There was the right amount of humor, with some fanfare service, but it was still entertaining. Again if you like Mecha anime with a fun twist then this will be satisfying.

Review: Ghost in the Shell – Stand...

GISStandAloneComplex.jpg

Plot Summary: In the future, life between the digital and physical world has been blurred. The boundary of technology and humanity has been stretched beyond imagination with lives being led in both the electronic and physical worlds. With the melding of man and machine – a new cybernetic level of existence is being created – An existence that continues to redefine mankind.

This series came out years after the huge success of the movie, and it was a nice surprise. Kusonagi is the team leader of section 9 who battle these cyber criminals but with a blurred line on reality. Batou is the strong arm of section 9 and the closest to Kusonagi. With all these crimes, its not all what it seems. I have to say that it isnt always the case that an anime series would even come close to quality of the its successful predecessor. In my opinion this series’s animation, storyline, and character development was even better then that of the original movie. What was great about the anime is that it kept you guessing, you really dont know what is going to happen next, something always pops up around the corner. The story gets deeper and deeper, and the complex plot only makes it better. The action in the anime is amazing, and it shows how society could be when reality can be fused with cyber space and how things turn out. I think this anime is with the best of them, and cant recommend it enough.
