Ken-Niz...

Got an email last week about some sort of screening to take place about a game show, it was a pilot episode of Ken-Niz which is a treasure hunt type show across Kuwait between two teams. The people involved in the show were very enthusiastic, the meeting spot was at Plaza Starbucks, then we were taken to screening room of EVMG which is an independent production company.

They were very enthusiastic, there were other bloggers there and a few people who were there. I went Thursday around 5:00 pm, right after work so I wanted to see what this was all about.

The show was a lot of fun, it was a little rough around the edges, but independently put together by an all Kuwaiti team, including the people working on the show, the editors, producers, pretty much everyone and that really impressed me. They asked us to be brutal with the commentary, we had our comments but everyone pretty much enjoyed the show and it turns out that they made it over two years ago and it took this long to get it into full swing and it has been picked up by Al Wattan TV.

Now they are looking for participants, teams of 5, a group of 5 friends, 5 siblings, a family of 5, people who could work together to win the competition and those who win go to the next episode and more and more prizes to get with an interesting story line. Since the show has been picked up by Al Watan TV it is set to air March of 2010, I know I want to check it out and see how they plan out these treasure hunts.

Show Cancellations from ABC...

Eastwick

  • Hank
  • Eastwick
  • DollHouse

ABC has taken some of the shows to the chopping block, Eastwick was cancelled even though it was lightly entertaining, DollHouse was good last season so I wasn’t sure what happened now, and Hank I haven’t watched yet but I will later since I have it all stored up. Luckily they kept The Middle, Modern Family, and Cougar Town for the whole coming season.

Warehouse 13...

warehouse13a

After saving the life of the President, two Secret Service agents find themselves abruptly transferred to Warehouse 13 – a massive, top secret storage facility in windswept South Dakota that houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government

This is one of those unexpected shows for the summer, and this line up came from Syfy and I do like some of their shows. Agents have to figure out where to find artifacts, but something else is building up in the background. The best part is that there is underlying story, the story is serious sometimes but the best part is the characters are a wacky combination. The hard headed type who jumps right in, the strategist and she thinks before any action, the paranoid boss, and the geeky nerdy assistant and a few other characters that make up for a very fun and interesting show, and Pete is my favorite character but cause he always does the funniest thing at the most inappropriate moment.

My TV Listing...

This is my initial TV listing for this season, but I’m adding a few more shows to it. I’m still trying to catch up with a few major shows. I still haven’t caught up with Heroes or Gossip Girl but I think one weekend of watching it nonstop is going to do me well. These are the list of shows that I am currently watching and really enjoying, some comedy, some action and some sci-fi. I will go into more details about some of these shows, but I still have a few more to discover that I downloaded that I haven’t seen yet.

The Shows:

  • 90210
  • Accidentally On Purpose
  • Cougar Town
  • Fringe
  • Flash Forward
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • Lie To Me
  • Melrose Place
  • Sons of Anarchy
  • Stargate Univserse
  • Smallville
  • The Big Bang Theory
Cougar Town...

Courtney Cox is a single mother living in Florida with her 17 year old and she is recently divorced wanting to discover the life she missed out on while she was married. Looked like an interesting show it started off as funny, and just got funnier, I think that this show could stay. There are bunch of other women trying to prey on younger men, then there are other older men around town that they get caught up with. Its a show to be added to the comedy list.

Jack is Back in Season 8 – Trailer...

At the end of Season 7 Jack was in the infirmary after saving the United States about to die from a strange bio-chemical weapon with Kim Bauer at his side. As he expected he survived only to kick ass for another season to save the world, but this time he is with this family but all I care about is that he is healthy and ready to kick ass. What I can tell is that he will be saving some Middle Eastern Diplomat, there is a new CTU, some new characters involved as well as some old ones. January 17/18 for a two hour marathon for a total of 4 hours, its great the producers give so much in the beginning but then there is so much story left you are left wanting more, can’t wait.

True Blood Season 2...

True Blood was a real hit for HBO last season, they made a realistic vampire society co-existing with humans and a few other surprises thrown into the mix. Season 2 is kicked off right away and they you jump right into it, no more need for introductions, things are going at a face pace. I thought season one was great, but season two turned out to be even better, they managed to make vampires and metrical creatures seem so realistic and possibly normal to live with. The story gets better and jucier, there is more to it then just what you know, vampires have a lot of politics to deal with as well as humans, they have an interesting way of breaking down their responsibilities. Season 1 was great and season 2 was fantastic, I don’t know how they can make it better, so many interesting characters so many ways this story can flow.

Shows with a Kick Off...

For the beginning of the TV season there are four shows off to a really good start and I’m looking forward to the following episodes. There are still a lot of shows that I want to check out and some that I need to catch up on some shows like Heroes and Friday Night Lights, and one show I really want to see is Star Gate Universe.

  • Fringe – As good as last season and it keeps getting better, I hope Fringe keeps up this pace
  • Flash Forward – What a great show, and I don’t know what to expect with it
  • Sons of Anarchy – Off to a great start, I didn’t expect it to be this good but I’m loving how they are taking the story
  • The Big Bang Theory – The guys are back, oh how we missed them over the summer
  • How I Met Your Mother – Off to a hilarious start, Bareny just keeps getting funnier and funnier

This Season’s Shows...

For now these are the two shows that I have started watching and have caught my interest. Flash Forward is a sci fi where a paranormal event takes place and people are trying to figure it out, the story is interesting and it keeps getting better for the first few episodes. Eastwick is a show based on the original Witches of Eastwick with Jack Nicholson and I do like the woman playing these characters, they seem interesting. Hopefully more shows will interesting this season.

Flash Forward

FlashForward is a mysterious paranormal event that causes everyone on the planet to simultaneously lose consciousness for 2 minutes and 17 seconds, during which people see what appear to be visions of their lives approximately six months in the future – a global “flashforward”. A number of people saw newspapers or calendars and it is established that every vision occurs on April 29 or April 30, 2010 at the exact same time, depending on time zones at 5 am UTC. It is also established that the precognitive visions were shared; if one character was with another in their vision, the other character also reports the same events in their vision. The event results in deaths from accidents and leaves the survivors wondering whether what they saw will really happen.

Eastwick

The show follows the lives of three strangers, Roxanne, Joanna and Kat, who meet at a wishing fountain and soon become friends. A mysterious man named Darryl Van Horne has moved to Eastwick and has sinister plans for the women, but befriends them. Even more dangerous, he unleashes their supernatural powers. By igniting their hearts’ desires, he might just be opening Pandora’s box.

Eureka...

A car accident leads U.S. Marshal Jack Carter into the top-secret Pacific Northwest town of Eureka. For decades, the United States government has relocated the world’s geniuses to Eureka, a town where innovation and chaos have lived hand in hand.

This turned out to be one of my favorite shows from the summer, it combined a really great story with comedy, action, science fiction and some very real interesting characters. It would be great to think that there really is a town in the middle of the US that creates all these amazing products and developments for human kind. Jack Carter seems to be the only normal person in all of Eureka, and Henry is the town mechanic/genius/top scientist who helps him unravel half these insane and catastrophic problems, the best part is that Jack always throws in a simple piece of common sense to save the day and the story line just keeps getting better. There is the day to day story, and then there is that underlying story which leaves you wanting more, and amazing character development, a show which anyone can enjoy.
