Space Battleship Yamato...

I’m still waiting for this insane movie, its Star Trek/Star Wars on steriods. I remember watching the anime a long time back, but the movie looks even more amazing then the anime was. Now its even tempting me to get a model version of the Space Battleship Yamato which is about 56 cm in length, pretty big to sit on the mantle.

Sym-Biotic Titan...

Judging by this trailer, Sym-Bionic Titan has everything you could want in a TV show: space opera, royalty on the run, high school drama and giant frakking robots.

Why should you tune in for the premiere? Because Tartakovsky’s Samurai Jack is one of the great genre TV series of the past 20 years, a heady, emotional blend of spaghetti westerns, Kurosawa action flicks and Frank Miller’s 300. That means it’s totally worth a look.

If your a fan of Samurai Jack like myself then you will love this, Sym-Bionic Titan is a show made from the creators of Samurai Jack, same style and humor with a lot of big robots thrown into the mix. I know I will be watching this for sure, two teens and a robot from a distant planet land on earth and try to assimilate into society only to find their enemies followed them to earth and trying to destroy them. Combining to form Sym-Bionic Titan they will kick ass, I just love the animation of this show.

Review: Iron Man – Extremis...

There is no doubting that I am a huge comic fan, but surprisingly I’m no the biggest fan of Iron Man since Tony Stark annoys me a bit, but this is different. This is not an animated tv show but rather an animated comic or to be exact motion comics, which is mix still and moving images to give this very cool comic feel, it feels like the comic is alive and the action in the Iron Man Extremis series is amazing. The story revolves around the Extremis experiment which helps explain some of the Iron Man development, you can see the trailer below for a brief short of the show and the idea of motion comics.

After watching this I downloaded other motion comics but Iron Man Extremis set the standard high with diverse set of characters, excellent animation and great sound. It has this noir feeling to it but seeing the Iron Man in action is fantastic, I’m just frustrated that the episodes were so short, I wanted a lot more. The action is great and the flow is fantastic, well worth watching and I hoping to see more Motion Comics of this caliber.

Review: Batman – Under the Red Hoo...

Batman faces his ultimate challenge as the mysterious Red Hood takes Gotham City by firestorm. One part vigilante, one part criminal kingpin, Red Hood begins cleaning up Gotham with the efficiency of Batman, but without following the same ethical code. Killing is an option. And when the Joker falls in the balance between the two, hard truths are revealed and old wounds are reopened.

It always amazes me how much depth there is to the story of Batman and those around him. Under the Red Hood is a movie I have been looking forward to for some time, a high quality movie from DC Comics. Batman now faces a different kind of foe, someone who seems to be able to keep a step ahead of him but the story slowly unravels. The story is great and the animation is fantastic, I love when they make these high quality movies. I want more of these movies, and especially the Green Lantern. For any fan of the comics this is a must see movie.

Shizuoka Gundam Time-Lapse...

I do enjoy these high quality time-lapse videos, makes this huge 18 meter Gundam look real. It really has become Japanese heritage with the stature of these robots that they keep building. One day I hope to see it up close and personal instead of just online.

Mazinkaiser in 2010...

At last, it has been long in development, a new Mazainkaiser, I love that a the Japanese know how to bring back an old show. For those who don’t know who Mazainkasier is, he is the bigger and badder version of Mazinger Z. This is the second teaser I have seen and if the show is as a good as the teaser its going to be damn good. Can’t wait until the show airs in November.

Robot Taekwon V...

Now this is really cool, a mecha movie from Korea, a bit looking like the modern version of Mazginer Z but in this case its Robot Taekwon V. Now the funny part is that RTV looks a lot like Optimus Prime, but more of a martial arts version if their was one. There is some concept art, but I’m enjoying the trailers since it would be cool to have the animation this way, and the character animation another way. I can never get sick of big robots kicking each other’s butts and some monsters thrown into the mix. Martial Arts is cool and Giant Robots are cool, now both of them combined is coolness on another level, I just hope they don’t delay this any longer and hoping for an early release.

In the classic 1976 animated movie, Dr. Kim creates the giant robot Taekwon V to fight off an army of evil giant robots created by a mad scientist. Dr. Kim’s oldest son, Kim Hoon, is a taekwon-do champion who uses his taekwon-do moves to control the robot in action. Sometimes Kim Hoon’s girlfriend, Yoon Yeong-hee, takes a turn piloting the giant robot, since she’s also a taekwon-do champion and experienced pilot. And Dr. Kim’s younger son, Kim Cheol, provides the comic relief by cutting holes in a tea kettle and wearing it on his head, pretending to be a robot himself.

Review: Needless...

Plot Summary: In the near future, mankind has suffered from a Third World War, leaving extreme damage all over and forced mankind to become even more distinct from their species. The world was at chaos and from this chaos comes a new species: “Needless”. The Needless are humans who have contracted a “disease” as humans may call them, and allow them to wield extraordinary powers far superior to any mankind. Their abilities include Telekinesis, elemental powers, gravity control, adaptation, radioactive release and all manners of scientific impossibility.

After a catastrophic event in Tokyo there became a no mans land in the middle of Tokyo, and the people who were in the middle of that zone were on their own. People started developing different powers, from telekinesis, to super speed, to super strength. Adam Blade is that funny crazy character who doesn’t stop fighting for what he thinks is right and he is also powerful and an idiot. Its a funny show but lacking a good story, it starts off pretty good but you never really get pulled in, the characters just don’t develop that you know them, you enjoy it you laugh but the ending and the whole thing just doesn’t feel satisfying once your done.

Fun Retro Cartoons...

Duck Tales

The story of Scrooge McDuck, The Richest Duck in the World, with the biggest safe that you can dive into a pool of money. I remember obssessively watching this show as a kid, I loved it, I loved the theme song, it just made me feel good. He was a nut ball and his nephews were normal, so many great adventures, it was the good old days of Disney cartoons.

Gargoyles

This was something for the older kids, I remember from 94 and it ended around 97, a fantastic cartoon, deep and dark. I loved Goliath, the most honorable Gargoyle and most probably the strongest. I watched this show nonstop every time I got back from school, I just couldn’t get enough of it. Gargoyles was a great show and I got pulled into it whenever I was watching, never could get enough of it.

Talespin

Now this is one of the fun bunch, I loved Baloo, always getting into trouble and some how getting out it. The idea of going from Island to Island with Merchandise and work as if its the 1950s with Monkeys as bartenders was funny. Some of the characters were based on Jungle book and that is what got me watching it, I just remember that it was from the early 1990s, and you know you sing the theme song every time, “TALESPIN” lol.

Gatchaman – Its Back...

Our cartoon from the 80s is back on track, back in April I posted that Imagi was in bad shape and that this project was permenantly on hold. It seems they have restructured themselves and the project is going full steam ahead, they even released a new very cool trailer for the movie, its a bit rough around the edges but still pretty good. The release is now aimed for 2011, I’m looking forward to it and I hope it does justice to the history of this cartoon.
