Mazinkaizer...

imgb050408-057.jpg

After spending a while in the Hobby Shop in Rihab I decided to purchase the detailed resin Mazinkaizer which is hand painted. Its about 18 centimeters tall, with a very mean looking face.

imgb050408-056.jpg

I have been a fan of Mazinger Z, Grandizer, and Mazinkaizer for the longest time and Mazinkaizer is lesser known to the general public but just as mean. I think my next purchase is going to be either Mazinger Z or Grandizer, but I have to find the right spot to place him. I have the Mazinkaizer standing in the middle of shelf so I can easily see hi, I need to get rid of all the DVDs that I have seen to get the shelf a little bit more organized.

Hobby Japan...

imgb050408-037.jpg

Never thought I would find an anime hobby shop in Kuwait of this caliber, this is the type of store you would find in Japan Town in San Francisco, New York, or any other major city. I came across this store a few weeks back but it was closed on a Friday, so we passed by on Saturday and I really wanted to see what they had.

imgb050408-001.jpg

To my surprise they had almost everything an otaku could ask for and then some. There were Mazinkaizer, Mazinger Z, Robotech, Patlabor, Final Fantasy, Evangelion, and a lot more then I could remember. I was lost inside the store because I didn’t know what to look at and what I wanted. The one thing I knew for sure is that I wasn’t going to walk out of that store without getting something really worth it and high quality.

imgb050408-002.jpg

They had high quality resin statues painted and ready for sale, Mazinger Z and Mazinkaizer metal statues were available, there was some Ghost in the Shell items as well. There was a Kuwaiti guy working in the store to my surprise and he was very careful with a lot of the robot figures that were hand painted, I was very happy to see someone of his nature, and he loved this type of work. He was telling us how much effort he put into some of these figures which just makes them even more appealing.

Review: My HiMe...

myhime.jpg

Plot Summary: Tokiha Mai and her sickly younger brother, Takumi, have received a scholarship to attend the prestigious Fuuka Academy. On the way, the ferry they are traveling on becomes the site of a destructive battle between two girls wielding apparently supernatural powers. This is only the beginning of their troubles, as Mai learns that she herself possesses these powers – the powers of a HiME.

myhime2.jpg

HiMe came out a few years ago and I knew it was good anime, but I didn’t know it was this good. I thought it was a regular story about a girl going to school who then finds out she has powers, this girl is Mai. It turns out that a lot of the girls at this school have powers, some know and some don’t know. It picks up to be an entertaining anime, the unexpected happens, just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, it does and you are in shock. The anime kept me on my feet for the longest time, and that is why this is one of the animes that every person should watch. A good anime leaves you wanting more, in shock, and loving every moment. I lost a lot of sleep watching continuous episodes of this anime and it was all worth it.

Review: Zegapain...

zegapain1.jpg

This is a different kind of anime, it starts off a bit slow but picks up from there. The anime revolves around Sogoru Kyo, he lives in Maihama but he starts to notice things that don’t make sense in reality. From there he realizes that he is living as data on a server and so are all his friends, all human beings have become apparitions living on this quantum server. They are fighting against the GARMS-ORM, but they aren’t sure of the total picture. Kyo just goes in head strong ready to fight and beat the odds in front of him. He looks like a head strong idiot and that is what is sometimes, but he doesn’t realize how he is key to saving the human race against the GARMS-ORM and the mistake of their past or they will lose the earth. A very well written story, it comes together towards the end, its a bit hard to stick to in the beginning but then things start getting more interesting you and follow it. A good anime with a great ending.

Current Anime 03-08...

shippuudensm.jpg

I have been watching a few anime’s over the past couple of weeks. I have been catching up with a few TV shows so I haven’t kept up with the amount of anime I have been downloading until recently. I have caught up with all the Bleach and Naruto Shippuuden, and now I am flying through Zegapain since the show is picking up through the middle. I have a huge stockpile of anime that I am just going through, I have to figure out what to start next at this rate. I could finish a full season of some of these anime if I spent 16 hours one go watching some of the shows, and even if I wanted to do that I don’t have that kind of time.

Review: Justice League – The New F...

jlatnf.png

This is a film adaptation of a comic class from DC comics, I was really looking forward to more from DC Comics after JLA-Unlimited but it set high standards to meet. This story is based in the 1950s when the Heroes were just starting out, America is in the midst of a war against the communist, things are just not looking good. You get introduced very quickly to a number of DC Comic Heroes; Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Man Hunter, Flash, and more as the story progresses. The Justice League wasn’t there and the Heroes are all fighting their own fight with things slowly falling apart until they face a real threat which unites them. The story has a very good feeling to it, you appreciate how the story progress and it doesn’t revolve around one character but around the DC Universe. I enjoyed it but I felt that it felt a bit dated for being a 2008 movie, I expected something more on the level of JLA-Unlimited. The story is good, the coloring is very good, music is good as well, the animation overall feels slightly old and it could have been spiced up a bit more but if your a comic fan then you will enjoy it.

Review: Initial D First Stage...

initiald.jpg

Plot Summary:High school student Takumi Fujiwara works as a gas station attendant during the day and a delivery boy for his father’s tofu shop during late nights. Little does he know that his precise driving skills and his father’s modified Toyota Sprinter AE86 Trueno make him the best amateur road racer on Mt. Akina’s highway. Because of this, racing groups from all over the Gunma prefecture issue challenges to Takumi to see if he really has what it takes to be a road legend.

initiald2.jpg

I just finished Initial D First Stage and it was one hell of an adrenaline rush. This is a classic Anime from 1998, and it turned into a cult following. Some people say that this is one of the main causes of drifting spreading globally. Takumi is this calm person who doesn’t look like he has a worry in the world except to deliver his father’s tofu. He takes is routes and with time he learns lots of different skills to driving, this just to deliver tofu. He has some friends who make up a racing group in Akina, and when they see his skills he becomes legend. The anime is simple but great, it keeps you on your toes from episode to episode, you see how Takumi develops and with that he gains more enemies who want to compete with him, and this is just First Stage making the AE86 legend.

Review: Bleach Memories of Nobody...

bleachmon1.JPG

Plot Summary: In Karakura Town, there has been a sudden outbreak of unidentifiable spirits called “blanks” (vacant souls) while in the skies of Soul Society, the real world has been reflected. A mysterious female shinigami called Senna has appeared before Ichigo along with a man named Ganryu, leading a group called the “Dark Ones”.

bleachnom2.jpg

Every good anime series usually comes out with a movie slightly diverting from the story line but still having some connection with it. In this movie our favorite guy Kurosaki Ichigo is running around town as the usual Substitute Shinigami until they run into this strange phenomena. Whoever watches Bleach knows that the Soul Society has a lot of dark secrets and in this movie this is one of them, I really liked how they jumped right into Ichigo’s character and we are used some of these guys, but we are also used to how the storyline is uncovered to us in the episodes so much that you really know all the characters, but in the movie you feel like its a bit hurried. You get the sense the Ichigo will continue the fight, but you don’t get a full understanding of the enemy, they could have made it a bit longer and developed those guys a little further since we already knew all the Shinigami. Overall its an enjoyable movie and you will probably enjoy it but don’t expect so much from it, I have higher expectations for the second Bleach Movies.

Anime Filled Weekend...

 bleach1.jpg

I haven’t been watching some of this anime for a while but since it was a long weekend I decided to watch some episodes of anime that I haven’t seen in a while. The result of that was that I lost sleep because I was watching anime, but the stories were getting damn good so I couldn’t stop watching the episodes that I had.

bleach2.jpg

This Weekend:

  • 6 Eipsodes of Inukami (Finshed the series)
  • 26 Episodes of Bleach (Now at 122)
  • 6 Episodes of Naruto (Now at 31)
  • 1 Episode of Zegapain

I could literally go days without sleeping just watching anime! Not enough time in the day to do that!
