Now this has turned into a festive Christmas Day, luckily it came on a Friday so everyone was busy with Christmas. To my surprise the streets were practically empty today, most of everyone left town for New Years festivities and those who are celebrating Christmas are probably home or at Church so riding today was a lot of fun. 2009 is coming to an end, this whole December flew by, I have been ridiculous busy with work and family stuff that days were flying by. I still have 6 months of Anime downloads to catch up on, that is probably going to be a lot of work to catch up on but going to be worth it, I have caught up with a lot of TV shows. What an interesting year, lots of ups and downs, I’m just enjoying the weather and riding these days.

Old streets always have something to tell you, some of these streets are hundreds of years old and you can feel it when walking around. Plaka is the old city of Athens, so much to see, so many old colorful two story buildings around the area. I enjoy areas such as this, I can spend all day walking around here. Greeks are a happy people, and they love cafes, I kept walking there for over three hours and the same people kept sitting at the same cafe’s with more cups of coffee on the table and some sweets.
After walking some time I could feel my stomach start grumbling. The weather was perfect, cold and sunny, so Speeros told me he would take me to the perfect Kabab place to get a bite to eat. I honestly got lost from so many turns we took, luckily he knew these streets like the back of his hand. I was surprised to find the ancient ruins in the middle of all this, and its a large plot of land, nothing small, its fantastic seeing places such as these.

I paid my bill on the 2nd of December, and now it is the Friday 18th of December, I get a text message warning form Zain. It was zeroed on the 2nd of December, and we aren’t even close to the end of the month, and I get the warning of disconnection from Zain. They show no appreciation for customer loyalty, they don’t watch for customer consistency, and at least this time I got a warning that I will get disconnected in the next 7 days, even though it is a Friday I can pay some time during the week. The bill is around 182 KD which isn’t out of the ordinary in my case when I have times that I travel a lot, there have been times where it has been a lot more, I have called and complained that they disconnect without consistency, and they say it’s the system and I know that this system only applies to certain people but what about others, I know that it isn’t applying to them. They don’t show any appreciation for customers that consistently pay on a timely basis, and they randomly disconnect, I have never been able to understand their pattern.
At this point I am only stuck with my number that I have had for a very long time, changing it is a huge hassle for me so I’m stuck with Zain. The moment you can switch operators and keep your number I think Zain will be the biggest loser, they have recommended for people to keep my card on the bill but I have known that Zain does sometimes overcharge its customers and drastic amounts, times when mistakes were made, and it takes a long time to get your money back from Zain then to clear it up right then and there, so giving them my card details it out of the question. So with Zain a person’s track record means nothing to them, you would think with so much information that they have on their customers that they would do a better job of maintaining their customers, they have no idea that people only stay with Zain because the annoyance of changing numbers.
I had a meeting to get to, organized the next day in Dubai before I even looked at the timing of the flights, luckily Wataniya Airlines flew early enough and I booked on the 7 am flight. I didn’t realize that 7 am would mean that I would have to be up by 5 am to take my time and get to the airport by 6 am. I got to the airport and boarded my flight, it was still dark outside. My flight back was around 6 pm so I had a few meetings get it done, then a bit to eat and head back to Kuwait. Took a few episodes of Supernatural with me on the flight, I am addicted to the show so I have a few episodes with me. I do enjoy flying Wataniya Airlines but I hate the Marhaba lounge in Dubai Terminal One, its uncomfortable and tacky but landing at Sheikh Sa’ad Airport makes up for it.
On the early morning flight I was the only person sitting up front, it wasn’t that full in economy either. I wonder when these flights do get full during the week, but on the way back it was a little more full. Had a couple of arabic coffees to keep me awake, I almost ran out of battery that time in the day but still had a few things left to do. The best part of landing is walking out so quickly, and out to my car to head home and relax for a little while.

I got my Wataniya Airways mileage card after using it once, it starts off at purple and heads up from there to silver and gold. The best part of overall is that there really is a lot of bonuses with the mileage, other extras such as using the lounge, having a large family with transferable miles and you can buy more miles online. I talked about the card services in detail in this previous post, but right now I’m going to take advantage of it during my trips.
I called and asked, they also said you can claim trips after October 1st, since I have a few round trips I’m going to claim those for these trips. This I have been waiting for this package for some time now, I have been going over the details of the Canon 7D and found this great book about Halo. There is never enough Halo in this world, and at the same time I kept reading great reviews about the Canon 7D and its 720p videos. Now I just have to learn how to use it correctly to get the best of the camera. I’m curious to try the 720p video, I just need an appropriate size compact flash card to use with it. An nice early Christmas Present for myself, the best feeling when opening the packages.
This is probably one of the most annoying kinds of pain, it totally threw me off for the last few days. I was changing in the morning about to head to work when I stretched my arm in one direction to put the undershirt on while trying to stick my hand in another way. It looks like a complicated procedure but I was trying to get the cloths on quick, when I heard a certain click and then pain. Seems I moved my arms in a directions that didn’t agree with my torso and neck, so now I can’t turn my neck completely to the right without feeling a ridiculous amount of pain.
This resulted in me being not completely functional, I went to work but moving my neck around is annoying. I feel like I look like a damn ostrich in the position I’m holding my neck so I can move it comfortably. Deep heat and Vicks were my first option with some Tylenol throw into the mix which helped but didn’t completely fix it. The annoying part is I know that it takes a couple of days to heal, but a friend was telling me to take some muscle relaxants and he said it would make me a bit drowsy/dizzy so I would chill at home when I take it. Its annoying that nothing can be done to solve this ailment.
Finding the right netbook is always annoying these days since they are updating them consistently. I wanted a machine that I take around, very light but yet powerful and can handle a good amount of multi-tasking. The previous HP Mini was nicely designed but was really lacking punch, now they have done a great job with 5101 and the features of it. I have now used it for a few months and really put it through its paces, traveling with me for weeks on end, using it on planes, in cafes and carrying it in a small bang and taking a few bangs on the way. Overall I think it turned out to be a better laptop then I expected but the price and not being able to play 720p video crisply brought it down from 5 out of 5 to 4 out of 5, I think HP is taking the right steps.

- Price a bit steep with the SSD option, just going over $1000

This weekend was an active weekend for a few of us, I for one got a lot done but didn’t get to relax much. The weather was just perfect, we got just enough rain to clean up the weather, I felt for once there was no dust in the air after all that rain. Then it was perfectly sunny on Sunday morning, and everybody was out that day, the streets were completely full and people were out with their families.
Managed to catch up with some TV shows, almost finished one that I wanted but then we diverted and watched a few movies. We watched Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen again, that is one movie that I really enjoyed but there are two parts that really get to me. I really get caught up when Optimus Prime is killed halfway through the movie, and when Sam Witwicky is killed towards the end. I don’t know what to expect for the next one coming up. I still haven’t had a chance to just sit and play video games but I’m planning for that.
Happy Eid to Every and Hajj Maqbool to those who went, it is raining in Mecca right now and looks amazing. For this Eid I have a simple schedule in mind which requires very little thinking on my, its pretty much catching up on things I have to do and relaxing.

I’m avoiding the shopping malls for the next few days, when I passed by Avenues on the way to Al Rai that place was so overflowed that there wasn’t even parking on the street available. I hate traffic so I’m going to try to avoid that if its possible.
