Hibernation Time...

You know when you have those headaches that just won’t go away is a way for your body to tell you that something is wrong. I have been having major headaches for the past two days, that were keeping me from functioning normally. I know that this is a result from my lack of sleep, and I have tried taking a few Tylenol extras but that did nothing for me.

Tuesday night I slept from 6pm to about 8:45pm and I only woke up at different periods to my niece grabbing by big toe and walking away, or walking up to me and grabbing my nose. She is about a year a bit now, and she adorable, so every time she did that I couldn’t help but smile and go back to sleep. I was exhausted but I loved that she enjoys walking into my room, she likes messing around with things.

Then Wednesday night was something else, I wanted to go to cousin’s Dewaneya but I was completely exhausted with a major headache. I thought I would take an hour nap and go from there, I slept at 7:15pm and woke up at 11:03pm. I don’t seem to be able to take short naps, I just sleep like there is no tomorrow.

Al Falah Car Wash Detailing!...

Within 36 hours I got a phone call from Falah Car Wash telling me that my car was ready. I was honestly excited to pick up the car but I delayed it from Friday to Saturday due to the insane dust storm, I just wanted to enjoy the car being clean for one day before getting all dusty again. I have heard from friends of the quality of work of their detailing, I have already tried their was and it is fantastic, so I had high expectations from their detailing department.

A friend picked me up since he was heading in the direction of the city, I just told him to drop me off, didn’t need him waiting for me. When I got there it wasn’t too packed which is great, I walked straight to the cashier, my bill was 55 KD for detailing and wax, they also have paint protection but I didn’t want that option since I wanted to bring back the car to them in a few weeks or max two months. They have a two car fully enclosed garage for detailing, which is fully A/C with a filter system to keep the dusty/dirty air out and to keep the air inside clean.

After paying for the bill I went straight to my car, and I was simply speechless. I was smiling like an idiot the whole time, it looked amazing. They showed me the before and after of the interior, and that is what I kept hearing about. I was completely shocked by the color of the leather before, and after, it seems that from usage the color change to light-dark grey, and after the detailing it was so clean it extremely light grey as it was before. I just forgot what the original color was, they left me at a loss for words, after showing me the old patch, it took 10 minutes to clean that spot and make it perfect as the rest of the car. There was a moment between man and machine, and I knew that I have should have done this long ago and I will be doing this more often. They even had another vehicle next to me which was spick and spam, clean as whistle, even their detailing area is well kept.

For any person looking for detailing or to bring their vehicle back to life, then this is place to go. I was hoping that the car can look like this everyday, too bad its so damn dusty these days. The contact person is Krishna and his mobile number is 5084003.

WHS – Stage 4...

I have the server up and running, dumping files from three machines and the Infrant NAS. I have the Videos in duplication mode, so all my videos are duplicated on the server. Most of drives are in the Athena Backplane, most of it is in the storage pool except for one drive which is what I am going to be using to switch data between drives. Its faster to connect that one drive to the SATA drive of each computer and copy the data, then copy it over at one go by connecting it to the Backplane inside the server. Now to transfer the data from the different networks over to the one location, more drives to be added, and then there is the idea of combining the network.

Truck Stolen...

I got a call from my friend in the States late at night, something seemed up and he told me that my truck wasn’t home when he got home. He was shocked he called a friend of ours who had the spare keys other then him, but nobody moved the truck for two weeks now. I’m in shock, I’m not sure who would be able to steal something of that size. Now I’m just waiting to hear back from my friend, he was in shock and he is very pissed since he lives in a very nice area so its surprising that this could happen. I’m very pissed right now and I want to kill someone, and I know I’m going to have a huge fight with the insurance company, they don’t cover any of the modifications.

Windows Home Server – Stage 3...

Due to complications with the setup we had to change the server case from the Alienware case to the Thermaltake Kandalf which is large full tower case that handle all the drives I was looking to install. The main issue of the Alienware case was that we weren’t able to install the Silverstone 1200 Watt PSU and the Athena Backplane, they were pushing against each other without allowing any of them to fit in.

The Athena Backplane was holing 5 Sata Drives 3.5″ in the place of 3 5.25″ Drives, so basically 3 CD-Roms for 5 Hard Drives. The PSU fit in the Alienware, and the Athena Backplane fit in the in Alienware case but just not together.

The Thermaltake was the only highquality full tower case available in Hawally at the time that we picked up for 75 KD, and even though it is overpriced the case was worth it and needed to continue our work. So we transplanted everything in the Alienware case to the Thermaltake case. I was dismantling while K was putting it together which was going smoothly.

It took us sometime to take off a few pieces from the Thermaltake since they weren’t needed. The hardware wiring was cleaned up, we removed the extra USB/Firewire/Sound connections of the case to fit the 1200 PSU, its a large one so it takes up space. It fits vertically rather then horizontally which makes things very accessible when connecting all the items for power. We fit the Athena Backplane, and everything was going very smoothly. We removed the LED fans and installed quiet fans on this case, these fans would provide ample cooling by pulling cool air from the front and the back to would pull out of the case. Even though there were four fans (1×120 mm & 3x92mm) running, the machine is extremely quiet, this isn’t even including the fan of the PSU.

Then the wiring came into play, we had a total of 7 SATA connections, and one IDE. Then there was the Addonics SATA controller for more SATA connections at a later point. This will help support a total of 15 hard drives if I wanted to fit them in the machine. Right now I have a total of 7 Hard drives in the machine which are enough to start off with.

After all the hardware configuration we started it up, it started which was good without shorting so everything seemed to be connected correctly. We started the Windows Home Server installation but we were too tired to continue except the next day. When we did continue it was only about mounting the new hard drives on Windows Home Server Share pool. It is going to take some time to tweak everything but overall everything is very straight forward in this machine, can’t wait to fully utilize it. There are still some steps to take.

Detailing @ Al Falah Car Wash...

Its been sometime now since I wanted to take my car detailing at Al Falah Car Wash. They do wonders with cars when they take them in for detailing, they bring back the color of the interior and give a new shine to the body.

I know some people that take their cars detailing once every couple of months, but I haven’t had a chance due to luck. Sometimes they were booked up and other times when I decided to go a weather anomaly takes place such as dust storm, hurricane, or rain, so I stay home instead of taking the car in.

This time I called and they had an opening so after my last meeting I went straight there to drop off the car. It was perfect timing, by the time I got there I just parked my car outside for a little while. Half an hour later the owner of F355 convertible took has care from detailing so I was able to park my car indoors at that point. They have an enclosed garage for detailing and it takes about half a day to a day for full detailing, and the garage takes 2 cars. For only 55 KD you get fantastic results which bring your car back to life, that is what I have seen with every car they detailed, and now it was my turn. A friend of mine picked me up and dropped me off, and on the way back I dozed of in the passenger seat after a long day.

Barber Break...

Its been a bit of a rollercoaster at work for the past couple of weeks, not having enough time to get some rest. I left work around 5:00 pm and I had a meeting at 7:00 pm which I delayed to 7:45 pm since I wanted to get some rest. Right after lunch I went straight to the barber, and as soon as I was on the seat I was slowly nodding off.

I woke up relaxed with a shaved head and the blade on my right cheek. It is one the best feelings in the world to have that clean cut feel, no longer will you feel the itch. Sometimes I think about shaving everything off because it would feel so damn nice, but then I decided to keep my goatee. It was a fantastic feeling after such a long day, I even managed to get a 15 minute nap before heading out to the meeting. The nothing beats a relaxing time at the barber.

The New Look...

I have needed a major upgrade for a while now, for some reason the old blog was falling apart at the seems. It was just a matter of time until something went really wrong. Previously the search box disappeared, couldn’t post certain things, the back end was a mess but I was managing.

Thanks to Jacqui and Ananyah my blog looks refreshed, I love how organized it is and I really like the Theme. The header includes my Truck and my Bike, and there are a few other headers in the work. I removed the Flash header due to problems I was having with it when loading in certain programs and that it wasn’t completely upgradeable for WordPress 2.5. I prefer the static look, but the header will be tweaked a bit, there are still some content that I fixing but most of everything they took care without any help from me. I just remained a by stander, I thought they were going to update it a different day, they both stayed up late into the night making sure it was ready to go live. I was surprised in the morning, and very happy with the result. Now I just have to upgrade a few things in the content pages which I have left on the back burner for a while now. I’m happy a lot of people like the new look, some have a different opinion, but overall its more organized then before.

Retiring Some Items...

Some furniture rearrangement has been taking place as of lately, I had some extra books, extra DVDs, and a few other items in a disorganized pile in front of the shelves, then there is all the wires. I wanted to make more space for items I was using, and move or get rid of things I wasn’t using. The hardest part is figuring out things I wasn’t using, and after a couple of weeks it came down to two things.

shelf100408-005.jpg

  • PS2 – Last time I played my PS2 was 2 years ago, just when the XBox 360 came out and my DVD playback stopped working.
  • Sony LCD – I haven’t used the TV much since everything I watch is on the computer, and I don’t really watch whats on TV.

So I put my PS2 in storage and I moved my screen to my nephews room so they can watch Barney or Power Rangers. Taking both those items away freed up a lot of space, but instead of the screen I put my Sonos system which is in the perfect spot. I used my Sonos system everyday since its streaming music from my network area storage (NAS) or from online services such as Sirius, Rhapsody, or Napster. Then it came to the reorganization, I wanted to put all the books I have read together, and then put all the books that I can reference together. I am trying to figure out a way to organize all the different media, and I am running out of storage for all the anime DVDs that I have. I have a lot of PS2 games, XBox 360 games, and DVDs that I will be getting rid off, I used to sell them off or trade them in, in the states but I have to figure out what to do with them in Kuwait.

It took me a few weeks to get things in order, but I’m happy how neat things turned out. I am at the 80% mark since there are still some items I need to get rid of and then the organization of the records, filing them, and keeping those in order. Its a nonstop process but I do like to have things in order when it comes to mess, then sometimes I do enjoy an organized chaos.

No Brain Activity...

medical.jpg

I have gotten three hours of sleep, have to go in to work to make sure a few things finish up. I don’t think I have felt like this in a while, this isn’t just exhaustion, this is a state of pure brain dead activity. The group I was supporting in the Chamber of Commerce have won, but even at 8 am in the morning they haven’t finished the count completely.

I don’t want to go into work but I will finish the essentials, go home, switch off my phone and probably pass out. I hope I will be able to leave early if a few items for work won’t take too much time, I will be reaching my mental limit very soon.
