Damn Knee!...

kneebraceasterisk.jpg

I have had knee problems for a long time now from a major injury I had when I was kid. It is on and off, and there are a few things I can’t do and kneeboarding is one of them. When I woke up the day before I had a few meetings and things to do so I jumped right out of bed. The moment I stood up I felt a click at the front of my right knee, and I knew something was wrong. Within a few seconds I felt shooting pain through my right knee.

I’m a stubborn person thinking that it would go away throughout the day if I don’t do anything drastic. It just went and came throughout the day, if I was moving I didn’t feel too much, but if I stood still then I would feel the shooting pain. Even when I’m driving I felt pain in my right knee, it doesn’t matter if I was putting pressure on the brakes or gas, the pain just came and went. I’m trying to figure out what exactly is wrong but nothing seems to come to mind, even when I’m laying down I tend to feel a throbbing pain that comes and goes. I just hope it goes away by the time I wake up, I don’t feel like wearing the knee brace that I have thrown in my closest.

NBK Card...

nbkcard-001.jpg

It was just one of those days, for some reason my NBK cards are all bent out of shape. I have had a Bank of America Card (Debit & Credit Card) for over 8 years, and an American Express card for over 7 years with no issues. They are still very usable, but with my NBK cards its a different story. I have one debit card and one credit card that I carry with me. I use my credit card once every 6 months to a year, rarely a reason to use it and I usually carry cash on me. I don’t use my debit card more then a few times a week, and usually I’m just spending cash on gas.

To my luck my credit card completely broke off at the middle of the black stripe, and my debit card was almost broken off. I asked a new debit card from the closest branch which isn’t the one I usually do my business in. They said it would take 3 – 4 days to get new card, and I haven’t even called in for my credit card, I’m walking around with a broken card. Not having K-Net in Kuwait is a bit annoying, I usually carry around 40 to 60 KD with me for gas or other random items and if anything major I would charge my K-Net. So getting it back is important, but I wonder why it takes so much time. Now to get a new credit card which can be used instead of the broken one I have right now.

Star Wars & Sushi...

starwarsiv.jpg

What a ridiculous night of fun, towards the end of Friday night I was getting hungry and a few of the guys already ate.

wazzanmaki.jpg

So I had a craving for Sushi, I got the number to Maki and I headed over there. My friends ordered for me since I didn’t know what to order. I got the Issa Maki, Shrimp Tempura, and some Chicken.

Came back and we started watching StarWars IV which is the first movie from the Star Wars Saga. I have to say that it is one hell of a movie, and watching it again you notice things that you never noticed before. They were Lucas was a genius making this movie, it was years ahead of its age. And then we bucket of popcorn that was finished the first 20 minutes in.

Technical Difficulties...

serverroom.jpg

Due to some technical difficulties my blog has been down for about 15 hours from this post. I contacted tech support but it seems something was up at Dreamhost. I did a traceroute earlier in the day and it would get to the dreamhost server farm, but then it would time out. Throughout the day I kept getting closer to the goal, but I just couldn’t seem to find the server that was hosting my blog. Now its back to normal and I hope nothing else gets messed up.

Old Favorite Shows...

I was searching through the database of series that I currently have, then there were the old shows that I used to follow. These were the good ones from back the day, there are good shows these days as well but these ones just bring back good memories.

40 Days and 40 Nights...

40daysnights.jpg

40 Days and 40 Nights was just that movie that I felt like watching. I have always liked Josh Hartnett, and I enjoyed how he was in this movie. There was something that I liked in this movie since it was filmed in San Francisco during my time there. I loved Shannyn Sossamon, she was funky cute and I really liked her character in the movie and other movies she was in.

When the scenes were going through the streets, I even remembered what were some of things I was doing when I was there. I remembered how fast on my bike on the streets of San Francisco and the sushi shops we would stop to get bite in on the way back.

Yaris = Fun...

yaris.jpg

This can only be described as “Dude Wheres My Car?” moment, it was late, I was hungry, K was close by. For 20 minutes I couldn’t figure out where I wanted to get food from, but I had an issue that I didn’t want to go anywhere either. I called Munch based on K’s recommendation but they were closed, so I was back to square one.

I was watching a movie that I really felt like but I was still hungry, so about 20 minutes in I thought of something since it wasn’t too far.

I decided to go Hardees for some good old junk food, by that time K had arrived.

We took the back streets of Mishref which can be considered an off-road rally at some points to Hardees, and I ordered the following:

  • 2 Hot Dogs w/ Chilli
  • French Fries
  • 2 Cookies

The cookies weren’t for me, but damn I was feeling that hot dog. It was hilarious riding in the Yaris! Did you know that the Yaris has 6, SIX, cup holders up front, and it only has two speakers in the car. I have to say that we were laughing the whole way around, that is probably one of the funnest cars just to drive around in during these adventures.

Then we settled in to finish the movie, just a funny night.

Smallville Season 6...

smallville1a.jpg

I just can’t get enough of this show, I’m all caught up with season 6 and I just watched episode one of season 7. Season 6 was one hell of roller coaster, they made things really interesting and they seem to be integrating a lot of the stories from DC Comics. What I like about this season of Smallville is that it isn’t just about the next Kryptonite bad guy but about the relationships in Clark Kents life and how he was developed. Whoever is picking the music for the show is a genius they have gotten it right from day one, and with those important scenes they get the right songs going.

A lot of action with a lot of drama, a great show and I don’t know how they are going to wrap it up with season 8 next year.

Hard Drive Run...

img-076.jpg

After going to Hawally to pick up the two Western Digital 1 TB drives I was ready to get stared. These drives look like solid drives and they are relatively quiet compared my Seagate hard drives. Before the installation I cleaned up the Infrant ReadyNAS NV and I got the new hard drive harnesses to install into this machine. I followed the instructions step by step, and I did a preliminary configuration of the Infrant, but I will be upgrading the firmware after the full installation.

img-077.jpg

When installation the hard drives they have to be synced in, and they are set into X-Raid which is Infrants’ proprietary form of raid and it keeps things safe. I bought two WD drives from Kuwait for 90 KD, and I will expand another two later, but those I will be ordering online. The volume creation and syncing has taken a couple of hours, but I will be organizing my network later. I need to start off with the network cables, they really need to be cleaned up and organized.

Internet Connection Upgrade...

networkswitchcloseup.jpg

K post on the internet prices from Infoconnect and there are some very nice deals. Currently I have a 1.5 MB connection from Qualitynet which I am going to upgrade to 4 MB since the price is very reasonable, 850 KD isn’t too bad for that much speed and originally when they first launched it the price was 1600 KD.

Hopefully my line will be able to support this speed, and by the time I want more speed I hope they connect fiber to homes in Kuwait.
