Quick Prep...

tumibag.jpg

Just running around finishing up a few things before getting on the plane. I didn’t pack the night before since I’m only there less then a day.

This is my check list that I’m going through:

  • Tickets – Check
  • Hotel Booking – Check
  • Passport – Check
  • Cash – Check
  • Laptop – Check
  • Camera – Check
  • MP3 Player – Check
  • Phone – Check
  • Chargers – Check

Places to go after meeting:

  • Movies
  • Meat Company (Never been there before)
  • Emirates Mall

I packed pair of everything just to make sure I have a back-up if I need, I’m pretty sure of what I’m wearing and I’m taking this really small bag with me, it looks bigger then it is. I usually use it as a carry on in the US, so I hope they will let me carry it while on the plane.

Thats about it for me, going back and forth real quick!

While in Dubai...

mall_emiratessm.jpg

I’m trying to remember the steakhouse that I like in Dubai, but I also have a few things that I want to do and I think most of it will be in Mall of the Emirates!

I want to watch as many movies as possible, and these are the movies in the list of importance:

  1. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
  2. Pirates of the Carribbean 3
  3. TMNT

I hope to watch at least one maybe two movies, and then back to Kuwait. Its all a matter of organizing my time! Hopefully I will be able to finish up my meetings around the movie times!

Quick Trip...

It seems I have to go for a quick trip to Dubai this coming weekend for less then 24 hours. I have a few meetings to wrap up, and I need to tie all the loose ends.

While I’m there Im planning on watching some movies and checking out a few places, but I’m only going to be there for a day so I don’t have too much time. I just don’t feel like dealing with all the traffic, and I really hope there isn’t too much traffic, 10 to 20 minutes trips have become 30 to 60 minute trips.

Brain Malfunctioning...

I was happy I managed to hang out with my cousin yesterday, we got caught up with Jericho and we might be starting a new series as well. I’m exhausted from the past couple of days but still chugging along! We both had a Fudruckers Cheeseburger which was pretty damn good!

Over the next couple of days I’m loaded with meetings and I really don’t feel like them but I have to finish up, and it seems I really have to travel for one day to finish meetings! Too much on my plate and all I want to do is relax just a little bite.

I also need to call up Tristar to pickup the Robo and Pyro since they both need some work done, and then I need to take care of a few other things! I’m just looking forward to my nephew passing by today!

Im looking forward to the switch over of the weekend they I get one extra day to sleep in!

More Tasks On List...

gopher.jpg

Things just keep piling up, and more and more meetings keep coming up at this point. I’m trying to keep up with all the tasks I have on hand, I put a few things on the phone and a few I write down on a board and some on Outlook. It all depends what kind of things I have to remind myself to do.

Last night I managed to go get a shave and relax a little bit, I was so tired that I fell asleep on the barbers chair. I woke up when he was done shaving my head which was great, I kept falling in and out of sleep, except when I got some cold water on my face then I woke up.

It seems I might have to go for a one day trip for work and I really don’t want to be going anywhere at this point, I’m not sure yet but I will know tomorrow.

Check out this video of the funny Gopher, I think Gophers are one of the hardest working animals! They build dams!! Who can say they ever built a dam!

Lost then Found...

bottegavenetawallet.jpg

This is a freaky feeling, as I was about to go out on Thursday to meet up with some friends I couldn’t find my wallet. I was home all day and the first thing I did was to go to the areas which I was stationed at for the day which was my room and the basement. I turned the cushions over to check under them to see if my wallet got squeezed in between the cushions but nothing. Then I checked my room and I couldn’t find anything, I checked the usual places I place my wallet. Then I went to the car and checked if it had fallen out of my pocket while I was driving, and again I found nothing. I was a bit worried, but I just went back and thought through all the places that I had left my wallet and where it could possibly be.

There was one place left, I got into my car and headed straight for work. I usually take everything out of my pocket and put it i my drawer while at work to keep my pockets empty. I drove to work at 8pm and I knew who would be there from the technical team, so I headed straight there and the door open, when I went up to the office I found the wallet in the drawer where I usually leave it. I was relieved since I didn’t want to even contemplate it being stolen.

Dispersed Directories!...

NetworkDesign2.jpg

The above diagram is my current setup and everything is connected by the D-Link Gigabit switch and routed through the Netgear Gigabit Router. Recently I have been trying to centralize my files and duplicate it somewhere else. I don’t want to put everything all in one place but at the same time putting it all in different locations has resulted in non-stop searching for certain files. The other day I stumbled upon a music directory inside a back-up folder of my old pc inside one of the network storage, I was surprised to find it since it had a lot of old songs I was looking for earlier.

What I’m trying to do is duplicate new media files just in case if a Hard Drive stops working on me, and I send the old files to Infrant NV+ which has redundant storage. It is a bit of task to go searching between them, and organizing them is going to be hell as well since I have to go through so many sub-directories and many of the External HDs have different profiles on them. I know once I am done I will be extremely happy with everything, its always about redundancy upon redundancy upon redundancy, its moments like these that I realize I am complete nerd.

Blog Tweaks...

wordpress.JPG

I have been too damn lazy coming around to this and I have this weird feeling that everything could go wrong and the blog would disappear. Its funny since I always come to it and think to myself I will do it later when I am more prepared. What I keep postponing is the damn WordPress upgrade, and every time a new one comes out, I know its simple enough and there are no problems but I just can’t seem to do it. And the other tweaks are simply cleaning a few things up.

  • Upgrading WordPress
    • The reason for upgrading is so that it fixes all the damn issues I have and so I can post videos and songs. I have a lot I want to post about but I don’t since it never shows up.
  • Fixing up the Ride and Anime pages, I need to put up what is relevant there and tweak them a bit.
  • There are a few things to tweak on the blog cosmetically but thats about it.

My first step of upgrading has been hell! I can’t seem to backup my content file since my FTP connection keeps timing out, I don’t know why! I think its because my wp-content folder is too damn big! I want to upgrade to resolve all the issues but I’m running into a lot of problems just trying to transfer the files they recommend from the wordpress site, I’m off to a tough start!

I’m might be asking for some help from some people!

Lite Night!...

graw.jpg

Today was one of those nice chills nights! Things were just flowing from one thing to the other! At first we had our Ghost Recon session as expected, and then we watched a little Justice League! When we were online in Ghost Recon even hosting our own session we were getting our butts handed to us by a bunch of kids! It was ridiculous! They got us every time!

After that we had a nice bite to eat, and we popped in a movie which I thought was just going to be good but turned out to be surprisingly good! I will be reviewing it for sure. It was a nice night, and these are the nights I look forward to! Got a few things to do this weekend but it seems to be a relaxing one for sure.

Vista Project – Annoying UAC...

UAC-prompt.png

This is one of the features which I found to be annoying until CyberRowdy pointed it out to me. I wasn’t sure where to go to switch it off, UAC stands for User Account Control.

UAC is enabled for every account on the PC except the default administrator which is switched off by default. UAC is meant to limit people’s action to certain degree instead of the limited user accounts previously in XP. In Vista you have two types of users: Standard User and Administrator.

UAC is automatically active for both Administrator and Standard users, and it will always come up when you are making system changes or security changes. The difference of UAC in Administrator and Standard users is that in an Administrator account all you have to do is click the continue button, but in a Standard user account you must enter an administrator password to go through with the action.

The other purpose of UAC is that it doesn’t give programs more privileges then necessary to do what it has to do. Most programs in administrator mode have administrator access what UAC is trying to do is curb the access of certain programs to operate within their parameters. I think this is a good idea for a user who don’t are not tech savvy but it is also quiet annoying coming up when you are making small changes.

To Switch it off:
Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Turn User Account Control on or off (That is where you can switch it off)

The link below can give you a lot more information regarding the purpose of UAC.
