Slow Day...

I came back from work and I was hungry but I didn’t eat until late in the day. I had a few things in mind that I wanted to do, I was thinking of heading over to my cousins place, but I had a few things to finish up at home.

As I was sitting on the computer I decided to watch some Naruto Shippuuden since I was saving a couple of episodes and thought to enjoy all these episodes that I had saved up and I was really happy that I waited, there was so much action and fantastic fights that I’m happy I got to see some of the conclusions! Or else I would have gone nuts waiting for the next episode! Naruto Shippuuden is fantastic, and I can’t get enough of it, I like the development of this anime.

Then I was having lunch I was watching the Justice League and I have to say that I am really happy I picked up the DVDs! They are fantastic, and they are filled with great special features, but I didn’t watch too much of it.

As soon as I was upstairs it seemed my cousin was busy with other things so I was chilling the sitting room. I was feeling tired, but before I knew it I passed out and I only woke up two hours later. It seems I was more exhausted then I thought and then funny part I remember my final thought is that I wouldn’t have enough time to play some video games!

My Connections!...

patchpanel.jpg

I have been using Qnet for years now, and I have 1.5+ MB connection based on a little tweaking. It is really fast and great with no issues what so ever, except the price and when it goes down. I rarely have to call the contact center for any issues.

Recently prices have dropped drastically and at Infoconnect I got a KEMS 1MB connection for 350KD for the year. Which is a steal compared to earlier prices in Kuwait.

The problem was getting everything to work, and I was having issues. The line was dropping, and it couldn’t sustain more then a 64 KBps connection instead of the paid for 1 Mbps connection. I was going back and forth as to where the issue was and they sent an engineer a few times to test. They also blamed MOC for the low quality connection. I was running around with the issue for a few months. Until a couple of weeks back one person from the KEMS techincal team decided to do something differently and it worked. Now the connection has been great, and they started the connection from the point when all the problems were resolved instead of counting those previous months of no service. As long as there are no problems KEMS is great, but if there are problems it takes a while to solve them.

Two Regular Issues that some people face with KEMS:

  • Dropped connections
  • Can’t sustain higher then a certain rate on a line

Now to combine the two connections with a small server and load balance them. I was happy I got this working, so whenever Qnet goes down I am not without internet, or the other way around. This will have to do until we get fiber to our homes and we can get up to 100 Mbps, I know I’m dreaming for now!

Grubbing...

I have managed to cut back on the amount of food I eat. It has resulted on two things at this point:

  1. I don’t sleep right away after lunch, I’m tired after work but since I’m not extremely full I can keep myself from passing out right away.
  2. I dropped some weight but not the kind that I want. I am moving around quiet a bit these days, but still I haven’t worked out how I’m going to integrate working out into my schedule.

The food taste good, and I do like posting food pictures, it gets the funniest reactions and the chicken was pretty good.

Land Is Back...

DSC01087.jpg

It has been 11 Days and 16 hours since I gave my Landcruiser to Toyota to fix supposedly minor problems.

The issues as follows:

  • Steering wheel piece wasn’t on right
  • Right rear window was stuck and wasn’t operating right
  • Rear air condition wasn’t working even though air condition in the front of the car was working fine.

At first Toyota said it was minor and went about doing there tasks and gave me an estimate of 114 KD to fix everything which I thought was fine. They call me back 3 days later telling me it will cost 620 KD to fix everything. I was flabbergasted, and I told them what I would pay for and what I wouldn’t. They almost wanted to replace the whole A/C system because they didn’t know where the electrical problem was. There was nothing wrong with the Air conditioning itself, the problem was that the air flow wasn’t working in the back which has a control.

After making them really look into the problem the amount turned out to be 256 KD. The policy with fixing in Kuwait is to Replace instead of Fix, so they decided to replace EVERYTHING instead of finding out where the problem lay. So they replaced two controllers, one in the front and one in the rear and that seemed to solve the problem.

I’m just happy I have my Landcruiser back!

Site Survey...

Usually a site survey is a bit of boring thing, but this one was turned into something more entertaining.

We had some work to do out in the nether regions of Kuwait, so we decided to make it a late day excursion between myself and my coworker.

It was a site survey for services out by Al Zoor, Nuwaiseeb, and Khairan. Checking out what is there and what isn’t, it will a good development for that area giving services to that area of Kuwait, but it will be good when they do complete.

It was one good drive with some music, and a camera. Its always a nice drive when the weather is pleasant and the company is good.

PC Upgrade...

Thermaltake.jpg

I was previously thinking about upgrading my current PC with a few parts, but now I have come to the conclusion I want to build a new machine from scratch. And these are the specs that I’m currently going with. What I have in mind is simple, a powerful PC with a sturdy case which can handle all tasks without any fuss.

This is combination that I have come up with, if you guys have any comments then let me know. I think this is a powerful system with this combination and regarding the hard drives then it would a combination of them not all of them.

Locked Files...

I think everyone has run into this at one point in time when your trying to delete files. Currently I’m trying to clean up my main PC since its running into issues. When I’m trying to delete a file it tells me I can’t delete it since its currently in use which is really annoying. I have had a program for brute force deletion but in the past I have caused problems because of that.

After searching this is an extremely simple Windows utility called WhoLockMe which helps you find out which process has locked this file. All you have to do is right click on the desired file and then click WhoLockMe ? and it will give you all the necessary details. That way you will know if it is a critical file and not delete it, or if its a file you can get rid of without any issues. A simple program which does wonders for clean up.

X-Box 360 Games...

shadowrun1.jpg

Currently I have a couple of games I have on the radar that I would like to get. But I will only get a few of them because they do take up a lot of time to finish them. And with multiplayer some of them can really get time consuming.

Games:

  • Shadowrun
  • Crackdown
  • Ace Combat 6
  • Battlestations: Midway
  • Dirt
  • Ghost Recon: Advanced Warrior 2
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warefare

shadowrun2.jpg

Shadowrun is a combination of Magic and Technology is a somewhat modern world. The setting is in the future when people rediscover magic and combine it with advanced technology. Its an interesting game and has the mix of first person shooter as well as Role Playing Game, so it has a different mix then usual and its time consuming.

Crackdown is the good guy’s version of Grand Theft Auto, but now as a police officer you develop powers to fight off bad guys. You have compelete freedom to roam the area and choose missions as you want. Developing your character depends on the missions you choose.

Ace Combat 6 is probably the best fighter pilot game out there if its better then Ace Combat 5, so I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Battlestations: Midway is a game I’m curious to try out and see how they developed the naval battles in these games.

Dirt is a game I have wanted to get my hands on since X-Box 360 hasn’t had this style of game, its a free for all off-road game with lots of available vehicles. It has a lot of good reviews so I bet it will be a good multiplayer game.
GRAW 2 is said to be better then the original, and I really am enjoying the original. For people to say that the second version surpassed the first it has to be damn good.

Call of Duty 4, well this is the version of the game that I have been waiting for. I really enjoy using modern weaponery in the games, and Call of Duty has always been a fantastic but I have been waiting for this game to be updated with Modern Weapons and my dream has come true. If the track record of the previous games are anything to speak of then I can only imagine how good its going to be.

GRAW2.jpg

Currently if all are available and I can only purchase two at a time then it would be like this:

  1. Shadow Run
  2. Ace Combat 6

Chill Weekend...

chillday.jpg

It was one of those needed weekends where I just got to relax and watch a couple of DVDs, and not do much. I wanted to remain lazy all weekend but at the same time I wanted to go out for a change.

What I did do!

I caught up with my sleep, on friday I slept 12 hours which was just right.

I played a lot on X-Box 360 and I watched a lot of anime.

I cleaned up my media area and organized my DVDs in the basement.

I made a to do list for the week, it was pretty damn long and I would be happy with finishing half of it.

The Quiet before the Storm...

officeguy.jpg

The beginning of this week I thought it was going to be a lighter week and we are going to be able to move things along and things will be chugging along without too many bumps on the road. I was looking forward to the lighter load, but I was completely and utterly wrong.

A few things that I wasn’t expecting came out of no where, and a few things happened which weren’t supposed to. This caused my work to increase four fold, not the amount of time but the amount of effort. I don’t think I have gone through that many phone calls as I have already which is insane.

In Normal weeks I have a few days which are on and a few which are light.

My head during a normal day:

  • Head A Bit Fuzzy in the morning
  • Things clears up and I’m on top of things
  • Things are in full throttle
  • I’m still going but people left work
  • Then I go home

Thats my usual brain pattern when thinking about it.

This week I have had to be on full throttle all day long its insane!! I want to quiet this storm, hopefully soon! Its funny, I feel like I’m in fast forward and everyone else is too damn slow!
