5:45 pm – Futoor, depends if its in house, or visiting somebody and having to drive there.

6:25 pm – Finish Futoor

7:05 pm – Isha Prayer

7:30 pm – Head home or relax if at home

8:00 pm – Go out to Dewaneya or visiting someone

9:00 pm – Go to other work

10:00 pm – Keep working on numbers and other items

12:00 am – Go Home

12:20 am – Chill with the Family

1:30 am – Blog a little

4:00 am – Pass Out

Then rince and repeat! I felt tired just writing the whole thing!

Frustration...

rejected.jpg

Trying to start a business in Kuwait is a real test of patience, I have been going through this for some time now. The problem arises when you run into a problem between government entities. We have been waiting for over two months for one letter to go between them and they have said they lost it. Its really frustrating because its slowing our work, and just costing us more for no reason. 90% of all people working in the government sector are useless, and the other 10% are the ones keeping things functional.

When you want to do things the legitimately the government makes it as difficult as possible for young people to work on their own business. Its really sad that the state of things in Kuwait is like that. And to say that some of them are dirty its an understatement. Sometimes I want to take a bat to these guy’s heads because they just don’t follow any procedure and all of them are lacking manners.

They don’t provide you with clear ways to get things done, so you have to find an office or maktab to help you with the paper work. And if something goes wrong, which it will, they take their time fixing things, and since its Ramadan they go to work less times in the week then usual so it ends up that no one is there when you have a question and nobody wants to answer any questions.

My Tooth And I...

dentalxray.jpg

I have love/hate relationship with dentists, when I really think about it, its just a hate relationship. I hate going to the dentist since every time I go to dentist even if I’m not in pain I leave in pain. I have never left a dentist thinking, I’m happy I went. Maybe it was better for me that I went but I still don’t feel happy about it.

I have been feeling pain in my back tooth for the past couple of days, but I have been ignoring it hoping it goes away or goes somewhere else. With a tooth pain it becomes difficult to concentrate, and the pain I’m having is resulting from pressure. I don’t have a cavity thats for sure, I brush my teeth about 4 times a day, and I’m not much of sweets person. Its the pressure that hurts, and I’m delaying the trip to the dentist as much as possible, but at one point I’m going to have to go.

I don’t have a specific dentist that I go to in Kuwait, since I have run into problems with different dentists and sometimes they really screw up. At one point I didn’t go to a dentist for four years until I had to in the states, and to my luck I stumbled upon a fantastic compassionate dentist. But here I’m going to try my luck with one dentist maybe next week, it all depends how much pain I feel over the next couple of days. I’m very stubborn when it comes to the dentist.

I-Mate SP5 – Dead...

imate-sp5.jpg

For work I use a second line because I don’t like giving out my personnel number since some of these people would call at the oddest of times. So for work I got an I-Mate so I can sync it with Outlook and I would keep charging from that USB connection. And so I have been depending on the phone for the details and keeping all the information, but most of it is backed up on my laptop.

Suddenly I went to charge the phone, and I left it overnight. The next morning the light was red not green or orange, I haven’t seen red before so I wasn’t sure what was going on. After dropping it off at the phone place they said it shorted it would cost 35 KD to fix it and a couple of weeks, I thought that was ridiculous. So I’m using a temp phone for now and I’m looking at different HTC phones since I want a light Windows Phone for work.

Slept In a Bit....

pillowslots.jpg

It has been interseting with all the things to do during Ramadan and running around, and the other night I just felt like everything I was doing caught up with me. Right after futoor I was sitting on the PC for a little while surfing and going through some pictures then I felt a bit tired. At around 7:30 I decided to lay down for a bit and probably sleep for an hour and get up, I was watching some anime as I about to take a quick nap.

Without knowing how tired I was I just went to sleep, and a very deep sleep to the point I didn’t bother switching off the lights or moving my phone away from my head. I woke up at 10:00pm to find 3 missed calls and 7 text msgs, and the phone was right next to my head. I took care of the text msgs first then check my email, and then called people back. I did feel better and I needed it, but I didn’t realize how tired was yesterday, a few days of being up too much caught up with me.

Halo 3: Legendary Edition – The Un...

halo3-001.jpg

I was contacted earlier in the day telling me that Halo 3 was available in Kuwait, and I thought that was fine until I was notified that the gentlemen had limited amounts of Halo 3 the Legendary Edition. The regular one was for 20 KD, the special edition was for 25KD, and the Legendary Edition was for 80KD. I asked the man for his cost of getting the Legendary Edition into Kuwait and he said it was 59 KD and that is what I estimated it at. So I went ahead and got the Legendary Edition and I am more then happy about my purchase, I will play no other game for next couple of weeks until I finish it on every level and play multi-player with everybody and beat them at it. Oh and the release date was the 25 th of September and we got it early, Christmas came early this time!

Laptop or Desktop?...

alienwaredesktop.jpg

This question has always been going around and I always look at what people purchase. Recently a lot of the laptops have become more powerful so they use their laptops as desktop replacements. Personally I prefer a desktop for home and laptop for mobility so I have both, but some people have one and stick to it.

The good part about these new laptops is that you can pretty much do anything on them without any issues, and they can handle what you throw at them. The advantage of a desktop is that you can upgrade parts cheaply and it will become powerful with just a few different parts. Also prices for both types of machines have dropped a lot recently and you can get a powerful machine for a low price.

GulfRun – The PreShow...

dsc02268.jpg

We decided to meet up early Friday morning at 10:00 am to go driving and try out a few cars since we are going to go on the GulfRun on Nov 15th. We had a Carrera S, Audi RS4, Audi R8, and BMW M6, we met up in Mishref and things started from there.

gr.jpg

We went straight to the gas station to fill up the gas and check the tire pressures on all the cars. Soon we were on the highway heading towards the equestrian club since there were a lot of nice roads in that area and that we were enjoying for a little bit before starting our excursion. We started down the sixth ring road to the seaside road next to Bida’a, and stopped for some pictures there. What’s interesting is that all the different vehicles having extremely different characteristics and were built for different purposes. For pure power the M6 was the fastest but not the best handling, the best handling by far was R8. The RS4 and Carrera S could hold their own, the RS4 was launching perfectly and since it was four wheel drive it could take off at the line. The Carrera S was handling perfectly and holding with the R8 on a straight line, but on a very curvy road the R8 would put its distance from all the vehicles. It was a very fun day that started in the morning and went through into the afternoon.

dsc02264.jpg

As soon as we reached the end towards KPC we stopped to again relax for a bit and we headed down the road towards Le Notre to take the first ring road the car wash to get all four vehicles washed. It was one hell of day, and even driving hard and pushing these cars gets you worked up. Since we were coordinating so much we were thirsty as hell, that is the one thing that got to us all day we were very thirsty towards the end. When we finished cleaning all the vehicles we took the cars back to our starting location before all heading home. We had a fantastic time, good music and a nice start to the morning. After four hours of this event from the morning we all headed home, and the best thing was taking the cold shower and relaxing a bit as soon as I got home. The funny part was there was still a lot left to the day, but did do a lot from the morning.

The Delivery...

dsc02249.jpg

I just recieved a package from Amazon and it was two products I was really waiting for:

  • D-Link DIR-655
  • Gyration – Home Theater PC Remote

My Router:

I have had my Netgear WNR854T for a little over 8 months now and it has been great, the first set of reviews were happy about it but there were some bad reviews later. I didn’t think much of it since my router was working fine and doing all that I want. I got it mainly because it was the only commercial Gigabit-Wireless Router, Gigabit wired connection and it has wireless. So after all this time I came home to find it dead, and not operating at all. I tried restarting it and trying to connect to it without any luck. It was basically dead and I was left out of options, I was lucky to have an old Linksys wireless router in the closet that I put in its place but the wireless signal wasn’t that good so I ordered the D-Link DIR-655 instead since it was getting a lot of good reviews.

Remote:

After setting up the HTPC in the basement I noticed the short comings of conventional Mouses and Keyboards, so I decided to get a product to satisfy my needs. Currently I don’t surf on the HTPC even though you can, but the mouse would only work at most 1.5 meters away. So after doing some research I chose the Gyration HTPC Remote since its motion sensing, if you move the remote in the air the mouse on the screen moves which is fantastic. Its much more practical for the purpose and works no matter how far you are away.

Santana Row and More...

dsc00461.jpg

I seemed to have missed pictures of Santana Row that I had in another folder. I took a lot of pictures on this trip, so I’m putting these up as well. Whats nice about the place is that you can do some furniture shopping as well as home accessories then get something to eat in any of the cafes and restaurants, you have a lot to choose from. I just wish the road was a lot longer so that there would be more places and you can cruise down there a little more.

dsc00462.jpg

My usual stops:

  • Best Buy (Electronics)
  • Crate and Barrel (Furniture)
  • Straits (Asian/Cuban Fusion)
  • Maggianos (Italian Food)
  • Borders Books
  • Style & Form (Furniture)
  • The Counter (Amazing Burger Place)
  • Blowfish Sushi (Funky Sushi)
  • Design Within Reach (Furniture)

I think I’m forgetting a few of the places off the top of my head.
The one thing that they did with this development was to make apartments and townhouses for rent, if they were selling them people would buy right away. How nice would it be to live over an area to be considered the Rodeo Drive of Northern California. What I like the most are the boutique stores, they specifically got a lot of different kinds of boutique stores. The best part is there is a lot of parking on all the different sides.
