I was going through some letters the other day then I see the power and water letter sitting in between them. I assumed it would be a bill, and I opened it up to see what it exactly it was. The period was from April to July, and we usually prempt them and pay the bill every 4 to 6 months. When I saw the amount I was shocked and thought something was very wrong, for last year our bill was only around 1900 KD for the whole house. Suddenly on this bill for a 3 month period it said 13’480 KD, I got on it to get things sorted out.
After dragging a technitian from the the Ministry of Power and Water to take a correct reading of the meter. After going back and forth, they were telling they can’t change the amount even though it was a completely wrong reading. After getting into a few heated arguments the amount changed from 5 digits down to 3 digits, to be exact around 350 KD which is much more reasonable since I was home alone for most of the summer and almost everything was off. I wonder how they taking readings in Kuwait, and somebody they don’t even send them the bill.
There is something about these guys just parking and on the side of the road and causing traffic. I really don’t understand why they do this, and how come its a Ramadan ritual. The police used to do checks to see if some of the kids who are standing there don’t have licenses other then that they can’t do anything. The sad part is even when the police are on the road the quads and off-road motorcycles are riding past them with their machines pointing to the sky.
As I am taking pictures there are some guys that notice and they did the funniest things, I just couldn’t help but laugh. I don’t understand why they just chill there every Ramadan, and it causes traffic every time.
Time has shifted with the new holiday, so now its Friday & Saturday for the weekend. I’m just very happy now that I get two full days for the weekend, the amount of work during the week hasn’t let up so having two days to recoup gives me a chance to come in fresh to work.
Changes from the Weekend Shift:
- My Day for the guys to meet up has shifted from Wednesday to Thursday.
- All Dewaneyas from Saturday have now shifted to Wednesday which is an interesting shift, they are all going to Wednesday.
- I get to sleep in two days, I still don’t believe it.
- I get to ride two full days, not just one. I just need it to cool off a little more.
It has been a while but this is the first step, I went to the gym right after work to start my work out. I knew it was going to be interesting since I haven’t done much in a while. I realized that I have really put on weight and I just want to do some cardio and stretching.
The first thing I did was to go straight to the elyptical machine and my goal was 30 minutes which I managed to complete and then 10 minutes on the rowing machine, and a few sets on machines for my legs. As soon as I was done and about to head home my legs felt really light. I haven’t felt this good in a while, it felt nice to be tired. As soon as I went home, I took a shower and it felt good. And the gym was packed full of people this is the most I have seen the gym packed, I have never seen it this packed before.
The problem I had was that I ate a lot for futoor, it was a rediculous amount and I knew I ate too much. I will regulate my eating a little bit, but at I didn’t eat much at night, just a glass of liban and one tamur.
This is one of the places that was developed just towards the end of my college years, it a really nice posh street with lots of cafes and restaurants with a great view. They are trying to replicate the idea of Rodeo Drive in Northern California and I think its is great. Its really expensive to rent there and a lot of shops don’t survive but there are a lot of good restaurants there. There is every kind of shop you could look for from furniture, clothes, accessories, electronics, and more. The best part is the scenery, of course you can spend the whole day there and on Sundays they close it off to have a sort of farmer’s market for artists. And if you get tired from that there is a movie theater right across the street.
During any holiday trip there is always a couple of songs which I really like and get repeated during that vacation. Its a list of four to five songs which really gets me going while driving and riding since I was doing a lot of that while I was in the states.

While I was in the states I always pick up a few games from Electronics Boutique/Gamestop. The best part is that the prices of the games drop over time. I haven’t bought that many games in Kuwait since all the games cost $78 (22KD) and they don’t drop in price. In the states I always ask for used games and check if they work before buying them so it comes out to be reasonably priced. The best part is trading in the games that I wasn’t really playing then I get credit to buy other games and so you don’t spend that much. In Kuwait that doesn’t work since people aren’t used to the concept of buying used games, and if they want cheap they go to the copied games.
The first game I want to play and finish is the Transformers, then I start the other games since the consume more time.

My friend Nate knows me too well and so he gave me something and told me not to open it until I get to Kuwait. He is the same guy that sent me Awesomo from South Park. And to my surprise it turned out to be a Transformers Movie figure, and I love it! He knows that I’m a huge Transformers fan, and I love everything about them. I want to see the movie again and again, can’t get enough of it. So he got me the Bumblebee unleashed figure. I wanted to rip into the container to get him out and place him on the shelf, and Bumblebee is the main reason why I like the new Camaros.
This is Grimlock, I have had this truck for over 5 years now. I bought it used off of Ebay from an old lady in Texas, she used the truck on her farm to haul the hay and other items. The first thing I did after receiving the truck was to change the sound system since the stock system was horrible and I tinted the windows. I worked at IT company part-time to originally pay for the truck and to pay for all the modifications that I made. So it was a working progress and it was a lot of work, this is the result of a project during my college years. And I really love my Truck since it has a been through a lot with me, and I still have it in the states, I refuse to sell it since its so unique. I don’t think there is a stock piece in that machine. The engine has been changed since I blew the original, its got a dual battery system, a supercharger, an 11 inch lift with 38 inch tires, a fantastic Audio and Video system, and Road Armor bumpers from and back. Some of the modifications I have made by working on it myself at a friend’s garage, and some I had to have professionally done since I don’t have the skills or equipment to do it. The best part is staying in the garage as the modifications are made. This machine is road legal in California but it wouldn’t be in Kuwait. The best part is when all the other cars moving out of the way when I’m flying down the road. And I have to have my Orange Gatorade as I drive down the road.
I always used to haul my motorcycles on the back or on a trailer with this truck to the track or when I go down to San Diego for a long trip. The best part was taking this truck on long trips, so comfortable and we would play video games on the drive down or watch movies. Then we would deploy the motorcycles at our destination if we took them.

I’m the type of guys that really likes to drive and ride to where I’m going to. So I had this road trip planned from the beginning of the vacation.
I had it planned out to be in LA for a few days to visit some family and relax for a bit. Then I just rented a car and drove up from LA to the Bay Area which is about 368 miles and mostly on Highway 5. There are three ways to go, Highway 1 which is the coastal drive and very scenic, highway 101 which is close to all the cities, and Highway 5 which is the superhighway. I was looking to enjoy the big sweeping highway so I decided to take Highway 5 up.
 
I packed the car with my bags, and I burned my mp3 CD since the car’s stereo could read Mp3s CDs. I had a bite to eat before leaving, and I had a few bottles of water in the car. The best thing was the amazing weather, sunny and cool which couldn’t be better for a drive. I just put the windows down and opened the sunroof with the music blaring as I was driving. As soon as I was on the open stretch on the 5 after the Grapevine I put the car into its paces and took off. There are long stretches of road where you can look for cops. A suprise I had was the discovery of a built-in radar detector, and it was the Valentine 1 which is an amazing radar detector.

I made it up north on two tanks, one in the beginning and one towards the end. It took about 3 hours and 50 minutes which isn’t too bad and I wasn’t going to fast. The fastest I have ever done it was in 3 hours a couple of years ago. One of the most enjoyable roads for me is the 152 which connects between the 5 and the 101. It is a curvy elevated highway with great sweeping curves next to a resevoir, just right to test the traction of a car. As soon as I got my friends apartment I found people already on the BBQ, and a lot of people were there. It was a fun drive and a great night, I was jumping and hugging people left and right. As soon as that was done, we all got down to business I showed them who was still the King of Halo!
