The Pizza Night...

dsc04017.jpg

I had a nice day relaxing at my brothers house, and when I was heading home I got this hungry feeling. After thinking for a bit as I was driving I saw the Papa Jones delivery car next to me so I thought why not and I ordered the pizza just as I was arriving home. The person on the phone said it would take 30 minutes, but they took 45 minutes and I was counting each minute that was passing by, I got hungrier since I knew I was going to get a good pizza.

As I was making my second call to complain my BBQ Chicken Pizza arrived, so I took my pizza and headed to the basement to watch Justice League Unlimited and eat. As soon as I was done I felt good and continued watching the episode of Justice League.

Then I went back upstairs to watch some anime, a diverse bunch if I wouldn’t say:

  • 2 Episodes of Naruto
  • 1 Episode of Claymore
  • 1 Episode of Death Note

Flat Top Tire Incident...

skid_marks.jpg

I was on my way home on Thursday driving down the Fahaheel Expressway passing over the 5th Ring Road heading south. Bayan was on my right, and I was in the left lane cruising at around 100 kph to 120 kph. I wasn’t in any hurry just flowing with traffic, I was just thinking of the tasks I had in mind to do for the rest of the day.

A Lexus ES 350 came out the Exit about 100 meters in front of us. The vehicle continued in its daiagnol path with complete disregard for all traffic. The car was now in the left lane, and 200 meters in front of the car was a car flashing its lights on the left lane stopping. The ES 300 decided to slam the brakes full on when the road was completely empty. The car in front of me hit the brakes and so I hit the brakes, and my tires locked up.

All you could see was white smoke, and I was getting closer to the vehicle in front of me. My car wasn’t stopping fast enough so I knew that I was going to hit him, a guy in an Isuzu Trooper. I just came to the conclusion that I wasn’t going to hit him, I tried turning my tires but it didn’t do any good. The guy in front of me saw what was happening and let go of his brakes and broke right hard when he had an opening. With that he helped me a lot, he gave me maneuvering room, so I let go of the brakes to get traction again and I broke left when I felt I had traction and managed to get away and slow down. Traffic behind us was slowing down a lot since all you could see was white smoke. There was no reason to break the whole time, and we passed the car parked in the emergency lane. This whole mess was due to an over reaction from the Lexus ES, and as I expected the driver was a woman. She showed complete disregard when cutting across lanes and ignoring all the vehicles on the road. I don’t care if someone is doing that, and they are going faster then traffic and finding openings, but when she is going slower and runs almost two vehicles out of their lanes since she is turning without looking that drives me nuts. The problem is that she thinks that nothing was her fault and that drives me nuts.

After that incident my steering wheel was vibrating as if the alignment was completely off but it turned out the because of the hard breaking parts of my tires have become flat. The only solution was to replace all four tires with new tires since three tires were damaged.

Shifting Data!...

movingdata.jpg

There is a lot of clutter on my hard drives from all the images, pictures, tv series, anime, and all sorts of other files. So I sat down and started moving files to my network area storage. What I am doing is moving files into the NAS (Network Area Storage) to keep it safe and empty out the Hard Drives on my main PCs and saving new files in the back up as well.

What I’m moving:

  • Music
  • Movies
  • TV Series
  • Anime
  • Pictures
  • Images

As of right now I have only moved 78 GBs and I have about 200 – 300 GBs to go through decide what to move from it. It does take some time but when everything is organized it does feel like a job well done.

Pure Exhaustion...

welldone.jpg

Today was just one hell of day, one thing after another kept coming up. I thought today was going to be a very easy day after work and then I would just go to the beach house with some friends to enjoy the ocean tomorrow morning. Well I was completely wrong and I left home at 7:30am and came back at 9:00pm, things just kept popping up.

Things that happened:

  • 7:30am – 1:30pm
    • Work took a little longer then expected so I was there an hour later
  • 1:30pm – 2:00pm
    • Went to Muhallab to check for seats for Harry Potter, and there were no good seats there or any other cinema at a decent time.
  • 2:00pm – 3:30pm
    • Went to lunch with the family
  • 4:00pm – 4:30pm
    • Went to a funeral to give my condolences
  • 4:30pm -5:30pm
    • Working with contractors and checking over their work at a site where we are setting up something new, there was a lot of comments and a lot of work. I had to leave and come back. Coordination is difficult and they are always arguing
  • 5:30pm – 6:30pm
    • Went to visit my brother to check out something he was doing, it was nice being there for a bit.
  • 6:30pm – 7:15pm
    • Changed all four tires because of stupid incident earlier in the day 3 of tires were basically useless and my steering wheel was vibrating like crazy so the only solution was to change with the same brand or go for something new. The ones I had were bad so I went with something new.
  • 7:15pm – 7:45pm
    • I was back at the site arguing with contractors about work that was being done and looking at plans
  • 7:45pm – 8:20pm
    • I found out my aunt was traveling for the summer so I had to go to her house before she leaves Kuwait. It was nice passing by!
  • 8:20pm – 8:40pm
    • Drove home and I was deciding if I should go to the beach house or not, but when I came to the realization that I was about to fall asleep at the wheel I decided to go home.
  • 8:40pm – 9:00pm
    • Just showered, and I just passed out
Emptying Inbox...

golfbucket.jpeg

My current cell phone has a finite amount of memory allocated for messages and so it said “Memory Almost Full at 95%”, and so the Inbox was a bit slow when I was accessing it so I decided to completely empty it after thinking about it for about 30 seconds. I was just trying to remember if there was anything important in the messages, and I decided that if I tried looking for an important message then it would take more time then I had. So I decided to delete all the messages, and I have going with this trend for a while.

Even with my emails I just delete company or promotional emails, and I keep the rest. There is enough space these days that it just isn’t worth going through and deleting emails. If I don’t want something then I just delete it right away, and the first thing I delete are forwards.

Laptop Dissection...

dsc01952.jpg

I went to Bin Khaldoon street to pay a bill I owed, and I when I’m there I can’t just walk-in and walk-out, I always tend to walk around and check a few places out. I can’t help taking a look around and seeing what is in the market. What is funny, in Kuwait they go on trends with electronics, for the longest time you couldn’t find anything except D-Link, then Belkin, then Linksys. When it came to Hard Drives for a while it was Maxtor, and now its Western Digital.

dsc01948.jpg

So when I was walking around I walked into the store where I bought my work laptop over a year ago now and I ask him for some ram for the laptop to upgrade it. I bought 1 GB 667 Mhz Kingston ram for my Dell Latitude D820 since it only had 1 GB and I decided at that point to upgrade it to 2 GB since the cost of one stick is 28 KD.

dsc01949.jpg

I downloaded the service manual and began the dissection of my laptop while following the instructions. After I finished up and I was hoping I didn’t screw anything up, it said that what I did was wrong and I it isn’t being recognized. Going into the system Bios it showed the ram was there, so then I decided to take a leap of faith and flash the Bios from A01 to A04. I was crossing my fingers and then things were working fine and it felt that the programs were running lighter when I was booting them up. I felt like a mad scientist since I had to open up the laptop in two spots and I had different size screwdrivers all over the place.

Mall of the Emirates...

dsc03864.jpg

I have been there a couple of times at this point and I have to say that it is one the best malls I have been to. It is not because of the size of the mall but the diversity, and organization of the mall. They did a really good job of bunching up shops of similar interests within the same area to make easier for the shopper to find what they want, compare prices, and find different brans of the same product. This is the case for every type of product, and there is a very large entertainment center, skiing, a few food courts, a cinema, and everything else you could want in a mall.

dsc03865.jpg

The Avenues could be comparable in size but the it is no comparison when it comes to the quality and diversity of the stores. The Mall of the Emirates targets every possible consumer, there is something for everyone, The Avenues currently only targets women, and there wasn’t much organization in place of the shops.

dsc03866.jpg

Every time I go to the Dubai I always go to the Mall of the Emirates when I have time since its always fun to walk around there.

Day of Rampage!...

sledgehammer.jpg

I have never gotten as pissed as I have the other day! I think I blew a couple of veins, and I wiped the floor with a couple of people. The worst kind of people are those who lie and those are just pure scum bags. People screw up and I don’t mind that, people make mistakes and you can fix that.

My problem is with these kinds of people:

  • Those who lie
  • Those who stab you in the back

The other day I went off on someone that I don’t think was expecting me to go off, I’m usually really cool about everything and even when I get worked up I’m aggressive but level headed, but this time I let the flood gates open and didn’t care until I made sure this guy knew that I’m stopping just short of killing him,. When I really go off is when someone messes around with my work, I don’t care if that person is high up or below I will push them out of the way if they don’t get out of the way. I take responsibility for my work, and I have pride in my work and if someone is screwing it up and its coming to me then I will be extremely pissed off. That is one situation where I wiped the floor with a guy who is supposed to be respected, I basically told him he is useless and shouldn’t even be in this profession, and told him to not open his trap again, or I will be shutting it for him permanently.

The other person was trying to squeeze a deal to somebody else because I know that he was getting some cash under the table, and it was clear as day but after working on it the deal came my way. I was honest about the whole thing, the whole way, and if we didn’t get it then I didn’t mind since I knew we put full effort and I knew I’m going to do a good job but this idiot was still trying to get us to go through someone else. At that point I got pissed since I knew there was some dirty work happening under the table and so I decided to tell him that since he is an intelligent person he shouldn’t be asking stupid questions.

I really get pissed with dishonest people, both when dealing with them internally and externally.

Power Supply Fix...

ocz_sxs.jpg

Problem:

I came back home to find my PC not working, and after messing around with it for a bit I knew it was the power supply that shorted out.

Solution:

I called Professional Computers in Hawally at 2611661/0 to see if they can fix it and they said they could most probably fix it. When they took a look at it they couldn’t replace since it was a special size because of the specific size of the case. The opened it up and fixed it, which took a whole day. They fixed it for only 5 KD, I think they only charged me for the part and not for the labor. That is why I will be going back to them for other business they do a good job, most of the time.

Borders Dubai Again...

dsc03883.jpg

I was really looking forward to visiting Borders in Mall of the Emirates, it was on my list of places to go to on this trip. I got this feeling of anticipation as I was getting closer to the store inside the mall, as soon as I got close I just wanted to run in and stay there but I knew I couldn’t, I would go later since a few of the guys had somethings to do.

dsc03884.jpg

When I walked in the first thing I did was to look for any changes in the books and positions in the wall from the last time I was there. I have to say that I was impressed they really were updating the books and details every week which is very good. You get to see a different selection and that they are paying attention the stock and items they have, with different recommendations and also trying to improve the layout for you to see more interesting books easily. I couldn’t help wanting to read a book for a longest time or just sit there but I had a few things I had to do. I picked up a few magazines and a couple of books this time around, and I still wanted to stay there for a little while longer, but I had to leave.
