Headset-lessss...

JABRABT500.gif

One day I left work and I knew that I left my I forgot my headset in the office and I was too lazy to turn around. I have been using a headset while driving for the past 5-6 years, so I have gotten used to it and I really like it since my hands are on the gear and steering wheel, it makes it especially easy when driving a manual.

The one time I left it in the office I was getting annoyed picking up the phone while driving. So the whole time I was driving I didn’t want to make phone calls or pick up the phone. It was driving me nuts that people were calling when I was driving, it was a funny feeling, I didn’t know I was going to get that annoyed, I would have turned around and picked up the headset if it was the case. The next day when I came into the office and found my headset I was happy I did, when I was driving it felt normal again if I wanted to talk on the phone. I have come to the point that I can’t talk the phone while driving without a headset.

Long Days...

This has been a very hectic week, I wish there were more hours in the day so I could get some more sleep. And at the end of night this glass of lemonade with some good music just puts a smile on my face! It also helps that the lemonade tastes damn good!

My X-Box 360 Elite...

DSC03201.jpg

So my X-Box 360 went on the fry and started scratching my discs, and so I went to Rihab with my X-Box 360 in tow. I went from shop to shop and none of them said they can fix the X-Box 360 or they don’t know what the problem is. What they are used to is an X-Box 360 getting the red ring of death so they don’t even bother fixing it.

DSC03200.jpg

So I decided to purchase an X-Box 360 Elite since they had a couple around, the prices ranged from 340 KD to 250 KD. I picked mine up from Kuwait Toys Center for 250 KD, and 3 games for another 50 KD.

I went home and started putting the machine together, it was really simple and same as usual. Its just all black as well as the 120 HD being dark grey. I had to install the 20 GB Hard Drive onto my X-Box 360 Elite to use all my saves, profiles, and downloads since the transfer kit didn’t come with this console. The only difference is the HDMI and the 120 GB Hard Drive, it was just a little quieter as well.

I picked up 3 games:

  • TMNT
  • Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun
  • Armored Core 4

After I got back and plugged everything together, the new X-Box 360 Elite just said my “scratched” version of Gears of War is too messed up to work, which really drove me nuts! I really wanted to get online with the game but I couldn’t, so I have to buy a new version of the game!

Upgrade.. maybe...

Thermaltake.jpg

When it comes to computer I always have in mind to upgrade it once every 1.5 years, now it seems I have reached that point. My main PC is acting up, its really slow on the start up, I have to wait over a minute for it to get things together.

Issues:

  • Slow Startup
  • Needs a clean start
  • Some programs eat up the amount of Ram
  • 2.5 year old Graphics card

Since its my main PC I usually like it being the heavy hitter, so it needs to pack a punch.

Currently:

  • 3.6 Ghz Pentium D
  • 2 GB Ram
  • nVidia 6800 GT 128 MB Ram
  • 6 year old sound card

I’m thinking about getting a new motherboard, chip, 4 GB of ram, and nVidia 8800 GTX, and a few other flares to go with it. I just haven’t looked at all the combinations yet and what is the best but cost-effective solution yet. I’m thinking about changing the case, but I have had the same case for the past 7 years for this main PC, so I’m looking at the Thermaltake case. I’m also thinking about two 750 GB HDs and running them in Raid 1 format so that everything will be safe guarded on this PC. Lots of things bouncing in my mind right now!

Nailing It (Literally)...

nail.jpg

I haven’t changed my tire by myself in a while, but last night I was happy to see that it was as simple as before. I walk out of my house to find the Landcruiser leaning onto one side. My back right tire was flat, so I undid the spare cover and proceeded to replace the tire. I went to the Mishref Coop Garage and they patched up the tire and pulled this large broken nail out of the tire. I’m assuming its from some where in Shuweikh, and I’m happy that the tires held out without any issues.

Saturday Milcha...

DSC03232.jpg

This was an event I was looking forward to going to and its always nice going to them. This time I had to stay the whole time since the milcha is for a good friend and lots of people I know were there. I have to say that it was nice seeing some old faces and saying hello, I also made promises to go to the shalaih since I haven’t been going for a while and I will be going with my cousin. I will pick him up and head over this coming weekend. For some reason I still can’t eat food at a milcha I was too busy saying hello to people and walking around, this one was good and it wasn’t too packed but this isn’t the only milcha for this week. My feet were killing me at the end of the night and I was wanted to pass out from exhaustion.

Mass Issues!!!...

beachrunner.jpg

I wanted to be scientific about it, but there is no wording around it! I have put on a rediculous amount of weight and its annoying now! I previously didn’t care since I was just about things like normal, but like before when it affects my riding its when I do something about it.

My Problem:

  • My Portions (I eat for two as some people have mentioned)
  • Rice (Just too much of it)
  • Ice Cream (Just a little!)
  • Not enough excercise at all
  • Soda

My Solution (Crossing my fingers here):

  • Cut out rice
  • No more soda, only water or juice
  • No Junk Food
  • Excercise at least twice a week (swimming or gym)
  • No Ice Cream

My weight is currently 101 Kgs and I want to bring it down. I have nicked named myself the Michelin Man, and I want to get back in shape and lose the weight. My aim is to drop to at least 85 Kgs and aiming for 80 Kgs in the long term. I’m being optimistic and I’m going to push myself to see what I can do.

A bit of load...

workin.jpg

This is going to be a rough week, a lot of social commitments, and a lot of work. Today I didn’t have enough time to get some rest at home only a bit before going back again. Work + Work Event + Social Commitments = no spare time.

I’m already exhausted and its only the beginning of the week. And work is hectic these days, with a lot of things on my plate as well as things I have to tie up.

Nice Swim...

mypool1.jpgAfter a long ride I decided to change into my swimming trunks and jump right into the pool, I saw no reason not even shower, I was hot and I need to cool off quick. I took my laptop with me to the pool.

As soon I got there I put my laptop in the shade, lowered the screen brightness, and then I put some lounge music on at full blast which isn’t too loud really. I have to listen to music when I’m at a pool, it just feels nicer! I jumped right in and it was an amazing feeling. Its like being wrapped up in a cold blanket which is nice, I started swimming laps back and forth, at one point I was just floating in the water listening to the music.

mypool2.jpg

I came to the conclusion that this is completely opposite to riding, when I’m riding everything is going by at 1 million kph and I have to think of everything that could happen, all the possibilities, anticipate people’s mistakes and what could go wrong and counter it automatically and feel engine at the same time while my adrenaline is off the chart, its amazing, but in the pool I’m completely relaxed with my brain floating off to different and just thinking about different things and one thought pulling another. Just an amazing feeling floating and a few times I bumped my head to side because I forgot that I was floating. A very nice day and then I swam 15 laps more after relaxing in the pool. When 45 minutes was up I went straight up and took a shower, and I felt all fuzzy for the rest of the day. I think I will be swimming more often.

Wednesday Crashing!...

MyXBox360.jpg

I had a few things planned to watch but the highlight of the night is 24, that is what I was looking forward to all week long. I downloaded the MKV 720P version of episodes 23 and 24 on Tuesday to watch on Wednesday night. When I started burning the episodes to DVD the programs said it would take 5 hours for both episodes, which is a lot longer then usual, usually its 2 hours to convert and burn to DVD.

So when I started the converting and burning process Wednesday morning after it finished downloading I started the process and left for work. When I came back it said the file fragmented at the end and so the burning process got canceled and I had to start up again. The whole system was acting extra slow, so I found that a bit strange. I restarted the system and tried it again, and it said that the file was fragmented and so I had to find another solution. I know my DVD player plays DIVX files so I tried burning the episodes straight to DVD on another PC while the main computer continues with the converting and burning.

Then my main PC crashed, and I tried sharing my media to the X-Box 360 through the network but it wouldn’t play any of my files since they were MKV files. I was going nuts, then I tried one last thing which was burning each episode as a DVD on its own and cross my fingers. Then the X-Box 360 wasn’t playing my games, it wouldn’t play Ghost Recon, or Gears of War, and then I noticed it scratched my disk. I then tried I game I don’t like it and the damn thing scratched my other disk as well. So my X-Box 360 went out the window since only Microsoft in the US can fix an X-Box 360 which starts scratching disks.

So two things weren’t out that night, but I was keeping my fingers crossed and later in the night I managed to burn 24 Episode 23 on one disc and Episode 24 on another disc. I was very that worked out but now my X-Box 360 is out of commission.
