J’s Bakery...

So other day when I had that very deilicious Brownie I was curious to where it came from after a few days. When my sister in law came over she gave me this little piece of paper with details about how to get in contact with them.

It turns out its a Girl with a few people making these different Bakery items at home, and you can pick it up from them or have your driver pick it up. I tried their cup cakes and it was pretty good.

Here is whats on the little piece of paper. Sorry about the bad picture but I took it with my phone!

Security Conference 2nd Day...

Im sitting on a couch far away from people. So I could switch on my laptop and blog a little bit, before my battery dies out (Should get MacBook!). This is a pretty good conference, but a few people didnt show up from yesterday. There are about 40 today instead of 50. The one thing that some of these managers have said that is important to Kuwait is the matter of accountability. The reason some of these people dont make a decision regarding a crisis is because that person will be blamed if it was handled in the best way possible or the higher ups didnt agree with this persons decision. Its basically the higher ups leaving that person hanging to take all the blame, and thats the problem we have in Kuwait. There is no support for peoples decisions they just want to assign blame. And nobody has any preparations because they just react to terrible situations.

I can understand the frustration of some of these people, because at the end of the day they get left out to dry. So I can understand their frustrations and how come they arent impowered to make a decision. They were talking about examples of people going to court because of decisions they have made in the oil companies or in governmental agencies. Well hopefully somebody learns from this conference.

Conference...

This security management seminar is the first I have seen to have a give and take type discussion. A lot of people from KOC and KPC. And other agencies related oil and security. These individuals are do have there own opinions but the problem I keep here from them is that they can’t do anything about their security problem until the higher ups (sul6aat al 3ulya) get involved or are interested they can’t do much about it. And they don’t know what are their responsibilities and the responsibilities of the government, and they tend to put everything on the government because it rids them of responsibility. They give up before even taking a step!

What’s good is that they are involved in a group exercise related to their respective companies, and its the first conference where I see this kind of exercise! Well it wasn’t a bad conference but I still have to go tomorrow.

Sorry for the grainy pictures but I took the pictures with my phone!

I took some pictures of the buffet as people mentioned it earlier. This wasnt a bad buffet either.

Crappy Conference...

I’ve got to be at this crappy conference for two days 8am to 4pm. Its about oil and other matters, but Im really not looking forward to it. I have been to a lot of conferences in Kuwait and very few have been good. I think I can only remember 2 that have been good out the of the 17 that I have been to!

I really hope they have wireless where Im going or else Im going to be bored out of my mind.

Battle Cars!...

That is what I have decided to call Kuwait highways when I am going home! People think that they own the road and do as they please! Yesterday was a bunch of long meetings that drained the life out of me!

So I was driving home, and I got on Malik Fahad Highway and I am just about to pass under the fifth ring road. So then I am driving on the left lane and letting all the cars that want exit to the fifth ring road pass me on the right. Then there was this Maroon Pre-1990 Lincoln Mercury, and this guy decided he want to cut in front me when my car was halfway next to his, I honked and he looked at me and continued turning. So I had two options either to hit the guy or slam on the breaks. Since the landcruiser isnt fast enough to take off I hit the breaks and he went forward. I flashed him and he raised a hand at me. I was too tired to pull something crazy to quell my anger! So I let him go even though he was in front of me.

Revenge is so sweet! And I didnt even do anything. Another guy decides to cut left in a white camry, so now the Mercury was in exactly the same position as me. And both of them seemed to be men in there 40s. So they came extremely close to hitting each other. So one guy tried to scare the other. At one point they both decided to scare each other, and they hit side to side! I burst out laughing while hitting my breaks and putting my flashers on. They both got their fenders crushed in and the door were bent slightly. I just couldnt believe my luck that these two idiots decided to do what they did! I felt like I was in a scene of Police Academy 3! lol! So then I took the emergency lane and overtook both of them and took off! Now that was an interesting moment! hehehehe!

Side Swiped!!...

I was driving to work early this morning. I had a few things I wanted to take care of before my meeting, and I slept early because I was so tired. Basically I passed out around 10pm I was so tired, but I woke up refreshed!!

I got the road driving normally, I was on King Malik Fahad Highway on my way to work, and I was on the exit to take the Fifth Ring Road. That exit is like a long curved bridge where you can see the temperature tower on your left. On that exit I was taking my time and when I see this 1988 Chevrolet Caprice with an old guy driving it. I didnt know what exactly he wanted to do, but was eyeing because he seemed to be acting wierd or he really doesnt know how to drive. Suddenly he decided to right and cut across three lanes to get to the exit which he still had ample time to get on. I dont know if it was his binoculars for glasses or something else that made him react that way, but he was lucky no car was in the way, well except for ME! I was all the way on the right. I thought he might stop, but suddenly I could tell his car wasnt going to stop. So I dropped the Landcruiser one gear down, no cars were close behind me, I had to go into the dirt on the right and quick, but he still wasnt stopping. So I gave the breaks all that I had and I gave the clutch one hell of a hiccup, and I managed to avoid him, BARELY!

It looked like he hit me, but I was just really really close. And it seem he didnt know that he did anything wrong! I backed off and then I pulled to the left quick and took off. He got back in the lane as if nothing happened! Everyone around him was keeping at least 10m away from him. I was happy I got out of that one with only a shock instead of crash. I really dont know whats wrong with the guy, but I didnt want to find out! Damn what a way to start the morning!

Robo for Service...

I woke up really early this morning to beat the morning traffic as well as avoid the scorching heat because I was taking Robo in for a his first service at 1100Km. I also had two more carbon fiber pieces to be fitted to the back, as well as a little bit of tweaking to be done. I havent had a chance to ride since that last time out. And I like riding when its sunny, but not hot as hell! So I went to fill up gas, because it was empty from my last ride and off I went to Shuweikh. The weather wasnt bad, and I was enjoying myself. Since the first two songs that came on my mp3 player were Will Smith -“Just Cruisin”, and Biggi ft. Bone Thugs – ” Notorious Thugs”. I was really enjoying myself, and said this is the way to start off a working day. Even though it was 7:30am.

tristar.jpg

I got there with no complications dropped off the bike at TriStar Motorcycle Garages in Shuweikh. Which needs a cosmetic redo. Because this garage doesnt fit the look of the bikes they sell! It will take them about two days to finish everything and Im in no real hurry so I didnt mind. I told them to take their time and do what ever they need to do. I dont want to drop the bike off again! So off I went home, changed and now Im at work. And I got here at 8:30am! Did all that and still got here on time!

TriStar Outing...

This was a very interesting event! I mentioned the other week that there was a motorcycle meet and everyone was welcome to join. Well it was fun and an interesting way meet. We all met up at Tri Star motorcycle opposite Khaleejeya Complex. i got there by 8:40pm. I felt nice and hot. There were about 6 motorcycles parked up front so I parked next to them and kept saying hello to people, and being introduced for the first time. There were different types of bikes in this meet, not just BMWs and Ducatis, but really an interesting meet. It seemed like it was people of the same mentallity but just with different bikes.

I saw Jafar Behbehani and Salem from TriStar Motorcycles, and they were joining us on this adventure. And they were introducing me to people left and right to the point that I was forgeting the person’s name just after saying hello to the third person from the last name that I could remember. Basically mean I could only remember the names of the last three people I was introduced to! hehehe!

We moved out at around 9:20pm after waiting for Mr. Sury who graciously invited all of us to Pizza Hut in Bnaider for dinner. He was even nice enough to pay for gas for everyone that was filling up. Now this man seemed interesting to me, and I was wondering what he did for a living. But I could only go through so many people and ask question. When we left we all went to Mansooriya Gas Station to fill up our tanks, but I already filled up when I was leaving since my tank was empty in the first place. So we were about twelve bikes and two cars. We formed a one glob of motorcycles going in two by two form. I was taking it easy since I was new to the group and I was trying not to figure out who is a good rider and who isnt so I stayed all the way in the back and taking my time. The one thing that annoyed the hell out of me is I forgot to charge my damn MP3 player, but I was thinking it was going to be interesting just riding with this group in Kuwait.

The other funny part was how I was probably the youngest guy there, and I wasn’t the one being a bit of an idiot. In a group that size there is always a person is bound to make mistakes or do something idiotic. And there was that one guy, but he wasnt too bad, and they had a talk with him that straightened things out. This group was an international group about 6 kuwaitis, one french guy, one Bosnian, one Ukranian, one Indian, and another guy I didnt have a chance to talk to who wasnt Kuwaiti. The youngest guy there other then myself was 29, but most of everyone was in there 30s or above.

Late Dip...

S_DSC00127.jpg

Since today has been a lazy day I thought I should do something physical other then typing on a keyboard and moving a mouse! I did a few other things while moving about the house, but I really didnt do much! hehehe! I decided to go for a dip in the pool which was nice and cool and the weather was perfectly warm. I dont like slowly getting into the pool since I would probably feel colder, Im the type to jump right in and get it over with! And it felt good! I did about 10 laps in the pool at a consistent rate, about 14m per lap. It took me about 11 mins and boy I was tired! I started just floating around the pool, and trying not to think. After about 45 mins I remember we had an old boombox which I went to garage and found, so I started playing some music while swimming and that just felt great! After about 1.5hours of swimming in the pool I know I will get a good nights sleep!!
